The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated every October 7. It is a day when the Church honors the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title Our Lady of the Rosary and invites the faithful to rediscover the Rosary as a prayer centered on Jesus Christ.

The Rosary is not simply the repetition of prayers. Through its mysteries, we contemplate the important moments in the life of Christโ€”His Incarnation, ministry, Passion, Death, and Resurrectionโ€”together with Mary, who always leads us closer to her Son.

The feast has its historical roots in the Church's thanksgiving for the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, which was attributed by Pope St. Pius V to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary through the prayers of the Rosary. The devotion was later extended to the universal Church.

The Rosary teaches us that prayer does not always have to be complicated. Sometimes, we simply need to become quiet, place ourselves in God's presence, and allow the mysteries of Christ to speak to our hearts.

Mary shows us how to pray because she was a woman who listened, pondered, trusted, and responded to God. In the Joyful Mysteries, we see her openness to God's plan. In the Sorrowful Mysteries, we see her faithfulness even in suffering. In the Glorious Mysteries, we see the hope that comes from Christ's victory. In the Luminous Mysteries, we contemplate the mission and ministry of Jesus.

The Rosary therefore invites us to ask ourselves:
Do I only pray when I need something, or do I truly desire to know and follow Jesus?

Every bead can become an opportunity to surrender a worry, pray for another person, seek forgiveness, or give thanks. As we pray the Rosary, we slowly learn to see our own lives through the eyes of faith.

On this Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, may we not merely say the Rosary, but live its mysteries: to welcome Christ, listen to Him, serve others, remain faithful in suffering, and rejoice in the hope of the Resurrection.

The Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels is celebrated by the Catholic Church every October 2. It is a day when we remember with gratitude that God, in His loving providence, gives each of us a guardian angel to accompany, protect, guide, and help us on our journey toward Him.

Guardian angels are spiritual beings created by God and entrusted with the care and protection of human beings. The Church teaches that their presence is a sign of God's personal love and providence.

Jesus Himself reminds us of the dignity and care given to God's little ones:

Our guardian angel does not replace our freedom or make our decisions for us. Rather, the angel guides us toward what is good, protects us from danger, and encourages us to remain faithful to God.

There are moments when we feel aloneโ€”when we are facing difficulties, making important decisions, or struggling with temptation. Yet the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels reminds us that God's presence accompanies us even when we cannot see Him.

Our guardian angel is a quiet reminder that heaven is concerned with our journey. The angel leads us toward truth, goodness, and holiness, while gently directing our hearts back to God.

For students and young people, this feast can be a reminder to choose what is right even when no one is watching. Our guardian angel accompanies us not only in moments of danger but also in the ordinary choices of everyday life: how we treat others, how we speak, how we respond to difficulties, and how faithfully we live our responsibilities.

With hearts united in faith and prayer, the St. Augustine's Academy of Patnongon, Inc. community solemnly opened the Month of the Holy Rosary on October 1, 2026, through a meaningful Rosary Catechesis and Community Rosary held at the school gymnasium.

Before the Community Rosary, Mr. Jerrald D. Estaris, M.Ed. led a catechesis on the Holy Rosary, helping the students, faculty, and staff deepen their understanding of this beloved Marian devotion and its place in the life of the Church. Through the catechesis, the community was reminded that praying the Rosary is not merely the repetition of prayers, but an invitation to contemplate the life, passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ with Mary, His Mother.

Following the catechesis, the SAAPI community gathered in prayer, united as one family of faith. With Mary, our Mother, we entrusted to the Lord our personal intentions, our families, our school community, our nation, and the whole world.

Beginning October 2, 2026, the Block Rosary will commence. The image of the Blessed Virgin Mary will visit the different classrooms and offices of SAAPI, inviting each member of the community to pause from their daily activities and gather in prayer.

May this month-long Marian devotion deepen our love for Christ, strengthen our communion as an Augustinian Catholic community, and inspire us to live our faith through prayer, learning, and service.

We humbly ask for your prayers for our Grades 7, 8, 9, and 11 students as they gather for their Recollection on October 10, 2026.

This meaningful day of prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal will be facilitated by the seminarians of St. Peter's Seminary-Antique. May this recollection provide our students with a deeper encounter with God, allowing them to pause, reflect, listen to His voice, and strengthen their faith.

St. Michael is presented in Scripture as a powerful defender against evil. In the Book of Revelation, Michael and his angels fight against the dragon, representing Satan, and overcome him (Revelation 12:7โ€“9). His name, โ€œMichael,โ€ means โ€œWho is like God?โ€ It expresses the truth that no power can compare with God.

Michael is traditionally honored as the protector of the Church and a defender of Godโ€™s people.

St. Gabriel appears in Scripture as a messenger who brings important news from God. He appeared to the prophet Daniel to explain his visions (Daniel 8:16; 9:21โ€“27).

Most famously, Gabriel was sent to the Virgin Mary at the Annunciation. He announced that she would become the mother of Jesus, the Son of God. Gabriel said, โ€œDo not be afraid, Maryโ€ (Luke 1:30). Mary responded with faith and obedience: โ€œI am the handmaid of the Lord.โ€

St. Raphael is prominently featured in the Book of Tobit. He accompanies the young Tobias on a journey and guides him through danger. Raphael also helps Tobias in his relationship with Sarah and provides the means for Tobitโ€™s blindness to be healed.

His name, โ€œRaphael,โ€ means โ€œGod heals.โ€ At the end of the story, Raphael reveals that he was sent by God to help and protect them (Tobit 12:15โ€“18).

The three Archangels remind us of three important missions in our Christian life: to defend, to proclaim, and to heal.

Like St. Michael, we are called to stand courageously for truth and goodness. Like St. Gabriel, we are called to listen to God and share His message through our words and actions. Like St. Raphael, we are called to accompany those who are struggling and become instruments of God's healing.

As we celebrate their feast, may we remember that God can work through each of us. We may not be angels, but we can become messengers of His love, defenders of what is good, and companions to those who need hope.

Saint Lorenzo Ruiz is remembered as the first Filipino canonized saint and martyr. Born in Binondo, Manila, in 1594, he was the son of a Chinese father and a Filipino mother. He served as an altar boy, worked as a calligrapher, married Rosario, and became the father of three children. His early life was that of an ordinary Filipino layperson faithfully living his family, work, and Christian responsibilities.

In 1636, Lorenzo became involved in a situation that forced him to leave Manila after being accused of a crime. He joined a group of Dominican missionaries who were traveling to Japan. At that time, Christians in Japan were experiencing severe persecution. Lorenzo and his companions were arrested and imprisoned for about two years.

During his imprisonment, Lorenzo experienced terrible torture. He was given the opportunity to renounce Christianity and save his life, but despite his fear and suffering, he remained faithful to Christ.

He was eventually brought to Nagasaki, where he and his companions were subjected to further torture. Hanging upside down over a pit, Lorenzo faced death rather than abandon his faith. His courageous declaration summarized his faith:

โ€œI am a Catholic, and wholeheartedly do accept death for God. If I had a thousand lives, I would offer them all to Him.โ€

Lorenzo died in 1637 and was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Manila in 1981. He was canonized in 1987, becoming the first Filipino canonized martyr. His feast is celebrated on September 28.

t. Lorenzo Ruiz teaches us that holiness is not reserved for priests, religious, or extraordinary people. He was a husband, a father, a worker, and an ordinary layperson. Yet when his faith was tested, he discovered the courage to remain faithful to Christ.

We may never be asked to give our lives as Lorenzo did, but every day we encounter smaller challenges to our faith: fear, pressure from others, temptations, discouragement, and situations where doing what is right is difficult.

His life reminds us that true faith is not only something we profess with our lips; it is something we live through our choices.

As Pope John Paul II expressed during Lorenzo's beatification, โ€œTo die for the faith is a gift to some; to live the faith is a call for all.โ€

May St. Lorenzo Ruiz teach us to remain faithful in difficult moments, courageous in trials, and steadfast in our love for Christ. Like him, may we learn to say: โ€œLord, whatever happens, I choose to remain with You.โ€
