π π’π§ ππ¨π¦ππ₯π¨π§ - Today, July 10, we commemorate a significant milestone in the history of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente. One hundred twenty years ago, Fr. Jose Magbanua began his missionary work in the Province of Romblon, first bringing the mission of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente to the towns of Odiongan, San Andres, and Looc. Through his unwavering faith, courage, and dedication, he planted the seeds of a Church that continues to flourish today.
His mission in Odiongan, the largest municipality in Romblon, became the foundation for the remarkable growth of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente in the province. Today, Odiongan remains one of the strongest centers of the IFI, where it is the predominant religious denomination. The municipalities of Looc and San Andres likewise continue to have large and vibrant IFI communities, reflecting the lasting impact of Fr. Magbanua's pioneering mission.
As we commemorate this historic milestone, we give thanks to God for Fr. Jose Magbanua's enduring legacy and for the generations of faithful who have continued his mission. May his example of steadfast faith, courageous leadership, and selfless service inspire us to remain committed to the mission of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente and to faithfully serve God and His people for generations to come.
