Cruciform Life Church Cruciform Life Church is a Reformed church in the confessional Presbyterian tradition, holding to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

Cruciform Life means a life shaped by the cross. We believe that a believer’s life should be conformed to the cross of Christ. In his passion to know Christ, Paul said in Philippians 3:10, “…becoming like Him (Christ) in His death…” This is an expression that means, like Christ who denied Himself, Paul wanted to deny himself as well. Jesus Himself, said, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily…” (Luke 9:23) In Paul’s theology, a believer has died with Christ and Christ should be the one living in him. In his own words, Paul said, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20b)

Therefore, a person who has come to understand the Gospel should be living a cross-shaped life. Thus, our name, Cruciform Life Church.

During Lord’s Day, we were once again blessed to come together as His people and listen to the preaching of His Word.

In the morning service, we listened to the sermon entitled “The Lord Disciplines Those He Loves” (Hebrews 12:4-13). Through said sermon, we were taught that the Lord disciplines us because He loves us, and does so for our good. He disciplines us not to harm us, but to correct and strengthen us so that we may faithfully endure the life of faith, all in His Name.

"It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?" (Hebrews 12:7)

And then in the afternoon, we reflected on the sermon with the title “Living by the Word in Life’s Trials” (James 1:19-27). Specifically, the points made in it refer to the unshakeable idea that because God has brought us forth by the Word of Truth, we are thus called to receive His Word humbly, obey it actively, and live it out on a daily basis. Because God’s Word ought not only be heard, but also to be firmly put into practice, especially as we take on life's many trials.

"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." (James 1:27)

With all these, church, may we continue on trusting our loving Father in His discipline, and remain faithful to His Word. Humbly, and on bended knees, shall we receive and actively obey it, and faithfully live it out as we persevere in this life of faith in Christ our Lord.
