Today, the community of Palatiw celebrates the feast of Saint Augustine of Hippoโa theologian, philosopher, and Doctor of the Church whose life was shaped by a lifelong search for truth, meaning, and purpose.
Born in Tagaste in 354, Augustineโs journey was not one of immediate certainty. As a young man, he pursued education, philosophy, and worldly ambitions while wrestling with profound questions about life and fulfillment. His gradual conversion, culminating in his baptism in 387, eventually led him to a life of service as a priest and Bishop of Hippo.
His story remains deeply relevant to the youth. Augustine was once a young seeker, a person who questioned, struggled, learned, and searched for direction. His life reminds us that asking questions and seeking meaning can be part of our journey toward faith.
This fiesta is especially meaningful as the ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ด๐๐๐๐ถ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐๐ต ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ ๐๐๐ผ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ of the renewed presence and revival of youth in our Church community. For two years, young people have gathered, served, learned, and grown together in faith.
As we celebrate our patron saint, may we also celebrate the youth who continue to make our Church a living community.
May Saint Augustine inspire us to seek truth with courage, grow through our questions, and place our gifts at the service of God and others.
โOur heart is restless until it rests in you.โ
