Our Beginnings
Thirty years ago a seed was sown into a cultivated heart. Nourished by His love, it flourished and grew into a single vine. It struggled for life until it was able to surpass the continuous storms of tribulation and unending burdens of the time. It lived and held on to multiply and became a fruitful vineyard, an image of Israel, God’s Vineyard. The year 1983 started it all when Sis
. Nena Wirtz, a local of Pasig City, Philippines, started attending the Ligaya ng Panginoon Charistmatic Community prayer meetings together with her father, Dr. Avelino Damian, and her brother, Bobbit. Later in the same year, Sis. Nena’s father and brother were afflicted with sickness and weren’t able to attend the prayer meetings. Nena together with Bro. Bert Beltran and Sis. Anita Prada, friends she got acquainted with in the Ligaya ng Panginoon prayer meetings, decided to hold prayer meetings and healing sessions at the Damian residence in Pasig City. It then became a regular prayer gathering every Saturday, which were at that time attended by Sis. Nena’s relatives and friends. The servants, headed by Sis. Nena and Sis. Anita, together with Msgr. Moises Andrade, who became the prayer group’s spiritual adviser at that time, submitted a petition to the Immaculate Conception Parish Priest, Msgr. Emmanuel Sobreviñas, seeking for the recognition of the prayer group as one of the mandated organizations of the parish. Since then, the prayer group started to gather increasing number of members thus transforming the group into the Catholic Charismatic Community that it is today.
