Jan. 18. Feast of the Sto. Nino. Simple & Humble.

Excerpt from Matthew 18:1-5,10: "Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me."

To let go of our pride and self-reliance and hold on to Jesus. Be a blessing!

O maluwalhating Apostol, San Hudas Tadeo,

LET US PRAY,
God of every good gift, from the beginning of creation you have filled the world with abundant blessings. For everything You have given, may we never cease to thank you. Help us be a blessing to meet the needs of our brothers and sisters. Inspire our hearts to use our gifts you have given, great and small, to bring Your peace and love to the world. As we share ourselves and all that we have, teach us to receive Your gifts gracefully, nurture them responsibly, share them generously, and return them to You with increase, so that we may rejoice in the riches stored for us in heaven.

We pray this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

ORDINARY TIME IN TWO PARTS

The Catholic liturgical calendar divides Ordinary Time into two parts. The first part begins after the Christmas season, following the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, and continues until Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent. This period focuses on the early ministry of Jesus and his teachings.

The second part of Ordinary Time starts after Pentecost, following the Easter season, and continues until the beginning of Advent. During this time, the Church reflects on the mission of Christ and the growth of the Church, encouraging the faithful to live out the teachings of Jesus in daily life.

FIRST SEASON OF ORDINARY TIME BEGINS

The Church now enters the first season of Ordinary Time, a period that may seem โ€œordinary,โ€ but is deeply sacred. It is a time to reflect on the life and teachings of Jesus, to strengthen our faith, and to grow in virtue through the everyday moments of life. Unlike the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, or Easter, Ordinary Time focuses on steady, faithful living, allowing Christโ€™s presence to shape our thoughts, words, and actions in the ordinary rhythm of each day. It is a call to live holiness not only in extraordinary moments, but in the simple, faithful choices we make daily.
