“…He laid his hands on each of them and healed them”

Reflection:

Jesus is interested in a personal way in what you are carrying heavy right now. Imbis na grandosong pagalingin ni Hesus ang lahat sa isang iglap na kaya nya naman dahil siya ay Diyos. Ninais ni Hesus na tagpuin ang bawat isa ayun sa kanyang pangangailangan sa Diyos. For Jesus wanted a conversion of heart and mind that is not just “miracle oriented” but based on love and mercy.

Mt. 16:21-27

“Get behind me, Satan”

Peter is reprimanded and corrected about his proper place. When he attempted to talk away Jesus from the Cross. Thus he was called “satan, for he was an obstacle” in the fulfillment of the salvific mission of Jesus for humanity.

Peter wanted a political king and Christ but the plan of God is that He is the Messiah who will save the world as a “suffering servant”.

“Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.”

Reflection:
“My heart is restless until it rest in You” wika ni San Agustin. Kilalanin muna natin ang Diyos at mas makikilala natin ang ating sarili at ang halaga natin sa mundo. Kalaunan matimyas na marinig at maramdaman na “Kikilalanin din tayo ng Diyos”.

Tanging si Hesus lang sapat na - ito ang pinakamahalagang aral na dulot ni San Augustin.

Matthew 24:42-51

"Stay awake!"

Reflection:
In our world today, we are always on alert and prepared for potential events that are unexpected in our life. But the question is, are we really ready? The Gospel for today calls us to stay awake always, for we do not know when will the Lord comes. We are always called to be ready not just physically but most importantly, our spirit.

Reflection:
Nathanael's question to Jesus is an example of God's infinite wisdom and mastery over his creation. Akala natin ay hindi tanggap ng Diyos kung sino o ano tayo, pero bago pa man tayo dumating sa lupa, alam niya na at kilala niya na tayo.

Tayo ay inaanyayahan ng Ebanghelyo na maglingkod ng walang pagmamataas o pagtingin sa sarili ng higit pa sa ating kapwa. Hindi tumitingin ang Panginoon sa tagal o bilis ng panahon ng paglilingkod, siya ay pantay-pantay sa kanyang mga lingkod.

“Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb…”
“ “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.”

Reflection:

Ang mahal na Inang Maria ay iniakyat sa langit ng buhay-katawan at kaluluwa.
The Solemnity of the Assumption reminds us that we are made and destined for heaven like that of our Mother Mary. Not that we too will be assumed into heaven like her but our destiny is the same.

Mt. 18:15-20

Jesus said to his disciples:
“If your brother sins against you,
go and tell him his fault between you and him alone.”

Reflectıon:

Ang pagtatama ng kapwa ay isang gawaing kaaya-aya. It ıs called “correctio fraterna” we correct not because we wanted to highlight our goodness nor holiness but we correct our brethren for the reason of love, restoration of order and protecting his integrity as a person. Itinatama natin ang pagkakamali dahil ito ay ang syang ikabubuti at ikaliligtas ng ating kapwa.

Feast of St. Lawrence the Deacon
Jn. 12:24:26

“…unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies,
it remains just a grain of wheat;
but if it dies, it produces much fruit.”

Reflection:
“Turn me over, Im done on this side” literal na iniihaw si San Lorenzo pero pabiro pa nyang nasambit “paki lipat na sa isang bahagi naman luto na ako sa bahaging ito”. Faith without complaining that even in the face of death, he willingly embraced death for the sake of Jesus’s Church.

St. Lawrence became a martyr in 258 AD after defiantly presenting the poor of Rome to the Roman Prefect as the "true treasures of the Church". His refusal to surrender the Church's financial wealth directly triggered his ex*****on by being roasted alive on a gridiron.

19th Sunday in Ordinary Time-A
Mt. 14:22-23

But when he saw how strong the wind was, he became frightened;
and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”

Reflection:
Tumutugon ang Diyos sa pananampalataya kahit na ito ay kulang o di sapat. God responds even to an imperfect faith like that of Peter. Pagkasambit ni Pedro “Lord save me!” Agad agad tumugon at sumaklolo si Hesus. Storms in life is designed not to punish us nor intimidate us but all the more its purpose is trustful worship toward Jesus.
