Oct 7 - NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER & PUBLIC REPENTANCE

CIRCULAR LETTER
October 6, 2025

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has called on the faithful
throughout the nation to observe October 7, 2025, the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, as a National Day of Prayer and Public Repentance. This invitation comes as our country continues to face grave challenges brought about by natural calamities and the persistent moral crisis of corruption that undermines our people’s welfare and the integrity of our nation.

As the shepherds of the local Church, we heed this call with faith and urgency. We turn to the
powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother and Queen of the Holy Rosary, that she may lead us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ, and help us renew our hearts in repentance and conversion.

In this regard, I ask all parishes, schools, chapels, families, and church organizations within the Diocese of San Pablo to:

1. Join the entire nation in prayer on October 7, 2025, offering the Holy Rosary, the
celebration of the Eucharist, and other suitable acts of penance for the healing of our land;

2. Recite the enclosed “Prayer for the Nation” beginning October 7, 2025, and on all Sundays thereafter up to the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, on November 23, 2025.

Let this period be a time of sincere reflection, repentance, and renewal, both in our personal
lives and as a community of faith. Amid the darkness of sin and corruption, may our collective prayer shine forth as a witness of hope and trust in the mercy of God.

May Our Lady of the Holy Rosary intercede for us and lead our nation toward true conversion and peace.

Yours in Christ,

+ MARCELINO ANTONIO MARALIT, JR, DD
Bishop of San Pablo

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis on Easter Monday at 7:35 AM (Rome time).

We invite all priests, religious, and lay faithful to join us in praying for the eternal repose of his soul.

Let us thank the Lord for his life, his humble witness, and his loving service to the Church.

“Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace!”

Instructions Regarding the Demise of Pope Francis:

1. All churches in the diocese are to toll their bells for 1 minute at 5:45 PM.

2. Priests are instructed to use this formulary for the Eucharistic Prayer at Mass:

[Eucharistic Prayer 2]
Remember, Lord, your Church,
spread throughout the world,
and bring her to the fullness of charity,
together with Marcelino Antonio our Bishop
and all the clergy.

Remember your servant FRANCIS
whom you have called
from this world to yourself.
Grant that he who was united with your Son in a death like his,
may also be one with him in his Resurrection.

Pope Francis died on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta.

The Holy Father, this afternoon, after a morning spent alternating between respiratory physiotherapy and prayer in the chapel, experienced an isolated episode of bronchospasm. This caused an episode of vomiting, which led to him inhaling some and a sudden worsening of his respiratory condition.

The Holy Father was promptly subjected to bronchial aspiration (to clear his airways) and was put on non-invasive mechanical ventilation, which improved his oxygen levels.

He has remained alert and aware at all times, cooperating with therapeutic treatments.

The prognosis, therefore, remains guarded.

In the morning, he received the Eucharist.

This statement, provided by the Holy See Press Office on Friday evening, came as the Pope continues to be treated for bilateral pneumonia in Rome’s Gemelli Hospital. He was admitted on Friday, 14 February, following an infection of the respiratory tract.

About 24 to 48 hours will be needed to be able to assess the Pope's clinical condition following the isolated bronchospasm episode.
