When you look at the news or feel the weight of your own struggles, itโs easy to feel entirely overwhelmed. The world feels deeply fractured right now, and cynicism can seem like the only realistic response.
But when Saint Faustina wrote, "I hope against all hope in the ocean of Your mercy," she was reminding us that hope isn't a feelingโit's a choice. To hope "against all hope" means looking at a dark situation and deciding that the darkness doesn't get the final say.
Our global anxieties and personal fears are heavy, but they are just drops of ink thrown into a vast, limitless ocean of divine love. When human optimism runs out, God's mercy takes over.

Merciful Father, the world feels heavy right now, and my own strength is small.
When I am tempted to give up or grow cynical, help me to hope against all hope.
I drop all my worries, and the heartaches of this world, into the deep ocean of Your mercy.
Breathe your peace into every heart that is anxious, exhausted, or losing heart today.
Jesus, I trust in You.
Amen.
