๐๐ (November 17, 1937 โ April 23, 2026) was offered at the Queen of Apostles Sanctuary of the Daughters of St. Paul in Pasay City.
Presiding over the Eucharistic celebration was Fr. Mario Subrejuanite, SSP, Provincial Superior of the Society of St. Paul, Philippine-Australia Province, joined by concelebrating priests from the Society of St. Paul and Fr. Jomar Valdevieso, Oeconomus of the Diocese of Antique.
Representing the diocese closest to Sr. Mary Timothyโs heart, Fr. Jomar delivered the homily with deep gratitude and affection. He recalled not only her missionary work across countries, but more intimately, her enduring love for Antiqueโher homeland. He expressed the dioceseโs profound gratitude for the many ways she extended help, particularly her tireless efforts in advocating for the construction of a diocesan hospital and her support in establishing a local congregation serving orphans and schools.
โShe never forgot her people,โ was the sentiment that resonated throughout his reflectionโan echo of a woman who carried her roots even as her mission brought her far beyond them.
Born in Patnongon, Antique, Sr. Mary Timothy entered the Daughters of St. Paul at just fourteen years old, already driven by a deep desire to proclaim the Gospel. Her vocation would take her to Taiwan, where she immersed herself in the mission, learning the Chinese language and serving in various capacitiesโfrom apostolate work to leadership roles as superior, formator, and coordinator.
Her journey later led her to Rome, where she deepened her formation in missiology and spirituality at the Pontifical Urban University. There, and in her subsequent work with the International Secretariat for the Apostolate, she became a bridgeโconnecting needs with generosity, missions with support, and people with purpose. Through her efforts, countless apostolic initiatives around the world, especially in poorer and emerging communities, found life and sustenance.
Yet beyond her accomplishments, Sr. Mary Timothy was remembered for her spirit: simple, warm, courageous, and quietly joyful. Even in illness, as her strength waned and mobility became difficult, she remained a source of lightโoften seen moving about in her wheelchair with a smile that uplifted others.
In the end, hers was a life fully givenโacross cultures, across continents, and always for the Gospel.
Following the Mass, her remains were laid to rest at the Lipa Catholic Cemetery, as sisters, friends, and relatives gathered not only in mourning, but in thanksgivingโfor a missionary who lived with fire in her heart and left a legacy that continues to bless many.
