1 Corinthians 13:3
"And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing."
It's cool to be a very good giver but it's far better to be a very good lover- of God. Otherwise your giving will be meaningless to God no matter how meaningful it is before men. I guess that doesn't make sense to you.
In this age of social media, we are used to seeing 'love' shown in public via cash giveaways and the likes.
Whether giving is done in private or in public, one vital factor is that someone has been helped or a need has been met. The other things may be debated afterwards.
Love goes far beyond those acts that you see philanthropists, politicians (especially aspiring ones) and brand influencers try to do, probably to get more followers, engagements and eventually more revenue for themselves in the long run.
Love is beyond any act whatsoever.
It goes beyond just any trending act of showmanship that even the evil devil himself can brilliantly orchestrate. π
Love is rooted in an immortal personality before it can be demonstrated in various acts by any mortal personality.
1 John 4:7 clearly shows us what I prefer to call the root of love. "...and everyone who loves is BORN OF GOD..."
Are you born of God?
Does it show in your lifestyle?
I mean your thoughts, your speech, your business transactions, your behaviour outside church and all?
Your answers to those questions will help you understand if truly you are a lover- of God.
Let's study 1 Corinthians 13:3 again, especially the concluding part.
"And though I bestow my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing."
Happy June!
Selah!
