Happy Birthday, Saint Faustina!🕊️

Today we celebrate the earthly birthday of the humble nun who became the 𝐀𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐲. Thank you for your "yes" to God and for sharing Jesus' message: “𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨, 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙈𝙮 𝙈𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙮. 𝙄𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙙𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙈𝙮 𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙮, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡

DIARY 464: During a meditation on humility, an old doubt returned: that a soul as miserable as mine could not carry out the task which the Lord was
demanding [of me]. Just as I was analyzing this doubt, the priest who was
conducting the retreat interrupted his train of thought and spoke about the very thing I was having doubts about; namely, that 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙪𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙨 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨; that we can see that this is an undeniable truth when we look at the men He chose to be His apostles; or again, when we look at the history of the Church and see what great works were done by souls that were the least capable of accomplishing them; for it is just in this way that God’s works are revealed for what they are, the works of God. When my doubt had completely disappeared, the priest resumed his conference on humility.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁: 👀🌟

𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙪𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙨 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨.. (𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟒𝟔𝟒)

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
There is a quiet logic in how God chooses to work. He does not reach first for the talented, the powerful, or the self-sufficient — He reaches for the weak, the simple, the humble and meek, the ones who could never claim the credit for what follows. The apostles were fishermen, tax collectors, ordinary men with no standing to change the world — and yet they did, because it was never their strength doing the work.

This is not God settling for less. The weakness of the instrument becomes the proof that the hand at work is God's own.

Faustina understood this in her own life — an unschooled young nun with no influence, chosen to carry a message to the whole world. If she had been brilliant or powerful, the mission might have looked like her own doing. Instead, her smallness became the very evidence that it was all grace.

This entry is an invitation to stop measuring ourselves by capability, and to offer God our weakness and misery instead — because it may be exactly what He is looking for.

𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿:
Lord,
Thank You for the gifts that's freely given
You do not need my strength — only my surrender.

It's never been about deserving or earning.
It's never been about performance,
Perfection or striving for acceptance.
Your grace is more than enough.

Take what is weak and small in me,
and let it become the space
where Your power is revealed.

Use me, not because I am capable,
but because You are.

Amen.

Looking for your daily dose of fascinating history? Meet 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐰, one of Jesus’ original 12 apostles whose feast day is celebrated today, August 24! 📜✨

Known for his honesty, Jesus famously called him a man "in whom there is no guile." But his story takes a wild, dramatic turn after the Gospels:

🌍 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀: He traveled across India, Persia, and Armenia spreading the faith. Because of this, he’s celebrated as a patron saint of the Armenian Church!

🗡️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲: Tradition says he was martyred in Armenia by being flayed alive.

🎨 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗰𝗼𝗻: Because of his brutal martyrdom, he became a Renaissance art sensation. In Michelangelo’s famous The Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel, Bartholomew is shown holding his own flayed skin. Plot twist: Michelangelo actually painted his own face on that empty skin! 🤯
Today, he is the patron saint of leatherworkers, bookbinders, and butchers.

St. Bartholomew, pray for us!

Dahil sa bawat tahanang ating pinupuntahan, may pusong may hinihintay na sagot mula sa Diyos.

Baka ang panalangin niyang matagal nang hinihintay ay kailangan lang marinig ng isang pusong handang makinig. 🙏✨

Today the Church celebrates one of the most powerful witnesses to God's mercy in all of Scripture — Saint Mary Magdalene! Here are some fascinating facts you may not know about her:

𝟭. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀.
Luke's Gospel tells us Jesus delivered Mary from seven demons (𝙇𝙪𝙠𝙚 𝟴:𝟮). Far from being a footnote, this deliverance transformed her into one of Christ's most devoted followers — proof that no one is beyond the reach of God's grace.

𝟮. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀' 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆.
Mary wasn't just a follower — she was a patron. Alongside other women, she helped provide for Jesus and the Twelve out of her own resources (𝙇𝙪𝙠𝙚 𝟴:𝟭-𝟯).

𝟯. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀.
When most of the apostles fled, Mary Magdalene stayed. She was present at the crucifixion, watching alongside the other faithful women who refused to abandon Jesus in His darkest hour (𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝟭𝟵:𝟮𝟱).

𝟰. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻!
Mary Magdalene was the first person to see the Risen Christ and the first to proclaim the Good News to the other disciples (𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝟮𝟬:𝟭𝟭-𝟭𝟴). This is why St. Thomas Aquinas gave her the beautiful title "𝘼𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙨."

𝟱. 𝗣𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁.
In 2016, Pope Francis raised her liturgical memorial to the level of a Feast — placing her on equal liturgical footing with the apostles, in recognition of her unique role in the Resurrection narrative.

𝟲. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻" 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱.
For centuries in Western tradition, Mary Magdalene was popularly conflated with the unnamed sinful woman who anoints Jesus' feet in 𝙇𝙪𝙠𝙚 𝟳. However, Scripture never actually identifies her this way — a distinction many modern scholars and Church commentators emphasize today.

Her story reminds us: God doesn't call the perfect — He calls the willing, and transforms them into powerful witnesses of His love. 💛

𝐒𝐭. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐞, 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐬!

✨ Happy Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel! ✨
Today, July 16, Catholics around the world celebrate the beautiful feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Whether you wear the Brown Scapular daily or are just curious about the history behind it, here is a quick look at how this beloved Marian devotion came to be, along with a few fascinating facts!

🏔️ A Quick History: From the Holy Land to the World
Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s story begins in the late 12th century on **Mount Carmel** in Israel. A group of devout Christian hermits, deeply inspired by the fiery Old Testament prophet Elijah, gathered there to live lives of quiet prayer and contemplation. They built a small chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, eventually calling themselves the "Brothers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel" (the Carmelites).

Due to regional conflicts, many of the hermits eventually had to flee to Europe. According to holy tradition, on **July 16, 1251**, the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Simon Stock, the head of the Carmelite Order, in Cambridge, England. She handed him the Brown Scapular (a sacramental consisting of two small pieces of brown wool worn over the shoulders) and promised her special maternal protection and spiritual care to all who wore it faithfully.

As shown in traditional depictions like the statue below, she is typically shown holding the Child Jesus while holding out the Brown Scapular to the faithful.

🎉 4 Fun Facts You Might Not Know!

🌱 What's in a Name? "Carmel" comes from the Hebrew word *Karm-El*, which beautifully translates to "Garden of God" or "vineyard of God". Mount Carmel in the Holy Land is famous for its lush, green landscape.

🧥 It Started as a Practical Apron! The scapular wasn't always the tiny necklace-like square we see today. Originally, it was a large, practical protective apron worn by medieval monks during manual labor to keep their religious habits clean. Over time, it was adapted into a smaller, symbolic devotional piece for laypeople.

🌎 A Beloved Global Patroness: Our Lady of Mount Carmel is deeply revered worldwide! She is the official patron saint of Chile (known there as *La Virgen del Carmen*), Bolivia, and is widely loved by sailors and fishermen.

⏳ The Sabbatine Privilege: There is a beautiful historical promise associated with the scapular called the Sabbatine Privilege. It holds that Our Lady will personally intercede to help release faithful scapular-wearers from Purgatory on the first Saturday after their death (Saturday being the day the Church traditionally dedicates to Mary).

✨ Meet St. Kateri Tekakwitha, the "Lily of the Mohawks"! ✨

🌿 First Indigenous Saint: Canonized in 2012, she is the first Native American woman to be recognized as a saint in the Catholic Church.

🌎 Patron of the Earth: She is the patron saint of the environment, ecology, and Indigenous peoples. Her deep connection to nature inspires us to care for Creation today!

🪶 The Deathbed Miracle: Scarred and partially blinded by smallpox as a child, eyewitnesses recorded that upon her death at age 24, her facial scars completely vanished, leaving her skin beautifully clear.

💥 The Canonization Miracle: In 2006, a young boy named Jake Finkbonner was dying from an aggressive, flesh-eating bacterial infection. After his family prayed for her intercession and placed a relic of her next to him, the infection stopped instantly without explanation, leading directly to her sainthood.
💡 "I am not my own; I have given myself to Jesus. He must be my only love."

Today is Sunday—the Lord's Day. Let us set aside time to worship God, receive His Word, and be nourished by the Holy Eucharist.

The saints continually reminded us that the Holy Mass is the heart of the Christian life. said, "It would be easier for the world to survive without the sun than to do without the Holy Mass." taught that the Mass is the greatest treasure on earth because it is where we encounter Jesus in the Eucharist.

May we never take this precious gift for granted. Let us come to Mass with faith, humility, and gratitude, offering our hearts to God and allowing His grace to transform our lives.

"Keep holy the Lord's Day." May your Sunday be blessed. 🙏⛪❤️
