Day 4 — Someone Paid the Price

Read: Romans 3:25 · Reflect: Like an item redeemed from a pawnshop, we were bought back. Sin had made us belong to the enemy — but Jesus became the payment that satisfied God’s justice. He took what we deserved so we could receive what we could never earn.

Pray: Jesus, You paid with Your life what I could never pay. I trust in Your work, not mine.

Day 3 — The Gift You Didn’t Deserve

Read: Romans 3:24 · Reflect: Being justified is a gift — not a wage. A wage is earned; a gift is freely given, undeserved. The moment you say “I deserve this,” it stops being grace. Heaven was never something you worked hard enough to earn. It was handed to you.

Pray: Thank You, Lord, that I didn’t earn this and can’t lose it by failing. Teach me to simply receive.

Day 2 — Stop Trying to Prove Yourself

Read: Romans 4:4–8; Ephesians 2:8–9

You cannot earn what God freely gives. Faith is not a performance to win His approval — He is already near, and you are already His child. Rest in that instead of striving for it.

Reflect: Am I serving God out of love, or out of fear that I’m not enough?

Pray: Father, thank You that I’m accepted as Your child. Free me from trying hard to earn what You’ve already given.

Day 1 — The Standard We Can’t Meet

Read: Romans 3:20 · Reflect: Righteousness isn’t just clean words and actions — it reaches into our thoughts. Measured honestly, none of us can be sinless even for one day. Before grace can feel like good news, we have to be honest about how far we fall short.

Pray: Lord, help me stop pretending I can earn my way to You. Show me my real need for grace.

Justified / Aligned: When Righteousness Cannot Be Earned
Romans 3:21–31

The world watches Christians to see if being righteous means being sinless — and the honest answer is that no one can pull it off, not even for a single day. Righteousness isn’t just about words and actions; it includes the thoughts of the mind, and by that standard we sin daily.

The heart of the message from Romans 3 is that we cannot earn righteousness through our own works — God gives it freely through faith in Jesus Christ. Ptr. Henry compared reaching heaven on our own to jumping and trying to touch the moon — impossible no matter how high you leap. So God Himself came down and gave us His righteousness.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) — we were measured and found lacking, and the wage of sin is death, a debt no amount of wealth can pay. But being justified is a gift, not a wage — you didn’t deserve it, didn’t work for it, and can’t boast about it. Jesus was the propitiation, the payment that satisfied God’s justice; He took what we deserved so we could receive what we could never earn.

This salvation is available to everyone — Jew and Gentile alike, through one way: faith in Christ. And grace doesn’t give permission to sin; it changes how we live — moving us to give, love, and forgive one another. The closing challenge: When righteousness cannot be earned, grace must be received — so ask yourself, “What am I trusting in for my righteousness?”

Happy Birthday to one of our leaders, Joshua! 🎉

Today we celebrate you and give thanks to God for the gift of your life. Your heart for the Lord, your servant spirit, and the way you pour into our community inspire all of us. Thank you for leading with faith, humility, and joy.

May this new year be filled with God’s abundant blessings, deeper grace, and endless favor. We’re grateful to walk alongside you in ministry.

Day 5 — Grace That Changes How You Live

Read: Romans 3:31

Reflect: Grace is not a license to sin — it changes our direction. Because we’re already saved, we live well not to earn favor but as the fruit of it: giving, loving, and forgiving one another. And this good news is available to everyone, so share it.

Pray: Lord, let my life be the fruit of Your grace — full of love, generosity, and forgiveness toward others.

Closing question for the week: What am I trusting in for my righteousness — my own works, my possessions, or God?
