"I say this with complete respect to the Holy Father: if there is no just war theory, you must dismiss the Swiss Guards because they are a military unit assigned to your territory to protect it from invaders and other malefactors." - Fr. Gerald Murray's response to Magnifica Humanitas declaring just war theory as outdated, 26May26

"In the present circumstances I wish especially to make an appeal both solemn and heartfelt, paternal and fraternal, to all those who until now have been linked in various ways to the movement of Archbishop Lefebvre, that they may fulfil the grave duty of remaining united to the Vicar of Christ in the unity of the Catholic Church, and of ceasing their support in any way for that movement. Everyone should be aware that formal adherence to the schism is a grave offence against God and carries the penalty of excommunication decreed by the Church’s law." - Ecclesia Dei, 5c https://epistles.online/2026/05/27/pope-john-paul-iis-heartfelt-appeal-cease-your-support-for-the-lefebvre-movement/

I had similar sentiments while reading the 42,000-word document.
For Bishop Strickland, the encyclical overshadows God with human-centered theology. He repeatedly argues that it places too much emphasis on humanity, human dignity, and social concerns in a way that risks eclipsing God, sin, redemption, and salvation.
In simpler words, the document is overly human-centered rather than primarily God-centered.

I feel it is important to address concerns regarding the recently released Encyclical Letter, “Magnifica Humanitas,” of the Holy Father Leo XIV.

𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗥 𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗
Citing Pope Francis, Pope Leo XIV now teaches that the traditional “just war” theory is now considered outdated because humanity has better ways to resolve conflicts through dialogue, diplomacy, and forgiveness. He argues that violence and warfare reveal a failure in human relationships and often bring devastating suffering to civilians.

"Today, more than ever, without prejudice to the right to self-defense in the strictest sense, it is important to reaffirm that the “just war” theory, which has all too often been used to justify any kind of war, is now outdated. Humanity possesses far more effective and capable tools for promoting human life and resolving conflicts, such as dialogue, diplomacy and forgiveness. The use of force, violence and weapons reflects a relational poverty that always has disastrous consequences for civilian populations." Magnifica Humanitas, 192

Pope Leo XIV, Magnifica Humanitas, 36: "Paul VI believed that although the Gospel was proclaimed, written and lived out in a historical and cultural context very different from our own, its message was not “outdated.” Instead, it offers a vision of the human person, relationships, authority and the common good that is still capable of guiding economic, political and cultural choices today. In other words, the Gospel remains relevant because it provides the criteria for recognizing what humanizes or dehumanizes and what liberates or oppresses in ever-changing situations." 👍

Marco Rubio’s visit to Mother Teresa's Tomb was a powerful moment where the Catholic leader stopped during his India trip to pray and honor the saint who spent her life serving the poor. On X, he said: "Mother Teresa left a tremendous legacy of compassion and service. I was honored to visit the Missionaries of Charity today to pay homage to her legacy and to see the living example of the Catholic faith in action."

Marco Rubio’s An American Son is a memoir about faith, family, immigration, and his journey back to the Catholic Church. Book link: https://amzn.to/3RHKaNX
