Vidu, Adonis. The Same God Who Works All Things: Inseparable Operations in Trinitarian Theology. Grand Rapids, MI: William B. Eerdmans, 2021. Critical Review Adonis Vidu is a professor of Christian Theology at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts. Part of his formation is from a Romanian Baptist background. Me trying to reclaim narratives from Filipino Baptist perspectives. Sadly, majority of primary sources of Filipino Baptists in 1900s are written from Western thoughts. Mostly, from a manifest destiny—colonizing mindset. As a Filipino Baptist history researcher, my aim is to be objective, faithful in the narratives I have encountered along the process of my research.

If you want to understand Filipino Baptists in general, this can be a good stepping stone—barely scratching the surface, but fair enough. God bless! - JP

In the 1500s, Spain offered the Roman Catholic Christian faith to the Filipinos as a means of colonization. Likewise, after more than three centuries, American missionaries came and proclaimed Protestant Christianity—in the form of Evangelicalism, including the Baptist faith. These missionaries arrived with a colonizing mindset; hence, historically and theologically speaking, Filipino Baptists originated within a Western American evangelical context. While the above statement is valid, Indigenous narratives, experiences, and theologies require representations locally and globally.
