***A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew…
Glory to You, oh Lord***
Jesus came to His native place and taught the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get such wisdom and mighty deeds? Is He not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother named Mary and His brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? Are not His sisters all with us? Where did this Man get all this?” And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house.” And He did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.

Praise to You, oh Lord Jesus Christ***
REFLECTION:
GOD SEES
Sis. Jeng Casumbal, BEM-sower
Once there was a rich man who came to visit a cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the upper part of a beam near the ceiling. He was puzzled and asked the man, “Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam when no one would even notice or see it?” And the workman replied, “Because God sees.”
Have you ever been in a situation where you did something good, yet no one noticed nor appreciated it? In today’s Gospel, Jesus Himself experienced this. He was even looked down, questioned and doubted by His own people. But this did not stop Him from fulfilling His Divine Mission. He continued to teach, to heal, to serve, to love.
Kapatid, God sees you. He sees the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you does. No act of kindness you’ve done, no amount of service you’ve offered, is too small for God to notice and smile over. “So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up.” (Gal. 6:9) And let us all desire for God to one day tell us, “Great job, my good and faithful servant!”
PRAYER:
Lord, may I desire to please only You in everything I say and do. Amen.
