“When the bridegroom is taken from them, then they will fast.”
What we choose to fast from can be as significant as how we fast. Beyond food, we might consider fasting from anger, gossip, excessive screen time, selfish behaviors, or indifference toward people experiencing poverty. Genuine fasting opens our eyes to those who experience hunger daily—not by choice—and encourages us to respond with compassion, prayer, and acts of mercy. When fasting inspires us to love more deeply, it fulfills its true purpose.

What is God inviting you to fast from today so that you may hunger more profoundly for Him and for the needs of others?

This afternoon, our student Diego Martin Sandoval will make his perpetual vows at our seminary in Quezon City. In this religious profession, Diego will commit to living the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience for life, thus becoming a full member of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus. He is scheduled to be ordained as a deacon on March 15 and is originally from Mexico.
