If a fellow believer hurts you,

GO AND TELL HIM-----
Work it out between the two of you.

If he listens, you've made a friend.

If he won't listen,

Take one or two others along so that the presence of witnesses will keep things honest...

AND TRY AGAIN.

If he still won't listen..

TELL THE CHURCH.

If he won't listen to the church,

YOU'LL HAVE TO START FROM THE SCRATCH..

CONFRONT HIM with the need for repentance,
AND OFFER AGAIN..

GOD'S FORGIVING LOVE.

IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM
Reference: Matthew 8:23-27

Jesus got in the boat and His disciples with Him.

The next thing they knew, they were in a severe storm.

Waves were crashing into the boat,
and HE WAS SOUND ASLEEP!

They roused Him, pleading...
"Master, save us! We're going down!"

Jesus reprimanded them----
"Why are you such cowards, such faith-hearts?"

Then He stood up
And told the wind to be silent, the sea to quiet down---
"SILENCE!"

The sea became smooth as glass.

The men rubbed their eyes, astonished.
"What's going on here? Wind and sea stand up and take notice at His command!"

Jesus performed a miracle in calming the storm..
And yet, they don't respond positively.

WE, LIKE THEM...

REACT NEGATIVELY!

What makes it difficult for you to trust God?

What makes it difficult for you to accept God's work in your life?

The story reminds us that..
We should not fear anything.
We should not faint.
We should look at the things how God sees them.
We should think of those things like the mind of Christ.

We should learn from Jesus' stand.
HAVE A FIRM FAITH.
ACT WITH FAITH.
And,
COMMAND SILENCE.

Yes, SILENCE!

SILENCE OVER YOUR FLESH----

You have to command your flesh to..
Silent your minds from worry and anxiety.
Silent your hearts from fears or doubts.
Silent your lips from murmurs or complaints.
Silent your hands from complacency and mediocrity.
Silent your feet from waywardness and infidelity.

COMMAND THOSE WINDS AND WAVES..
That oppression and heaviness to come out of your ways..
That poverty and bankruptcy to come out of your finances..
That darkness and wickedness to come out of your lives..

TAKE A FIRM STAND AND SILENCE THE ENEMY!

FROM FLOUNDERING TO FLOURISHING
Reference: Haggai 2:10-19

With the people's hearts now fully attentive to God,
Haggai shifted the direction of their work---
from selfish ambition to selfless abandon,
from focusing on their temporal needs to their eternal needs.

Building the Temple in the midst of the devastated city created a visible sense of God's restorative presence.

And in the course of abandoning themselves to that work, the people went from floundering to flourishing (1:5-6 to 2:18-19).

As such, Haggai's message is a stunning illustration of God's provision when we put His interests before our own (Matthew 6:25-34), which should be a stirring admonition for us today, living in a culture driven by self-interest.

Anyone who claims to live in God's light and hates a brother or sister is still in the dark. It's the person who loves brother and sister who dwells in God's light and doesn't block the light from others.

But whoever hates is still in the dark, doesn't know which end is up, blinded by the darkness.

If we claim that we experience a shared life with Him and continue to stumble around in the dark, we're obviously lying ...

If we claim that we experience a shared life with Him and continue to stumble around in the dark, we're obviously lying through our teeth--- WE'RE NOT LIVING WHAT WE CLAIM.

But if we walk in the light, God Himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God's Son, purges all our sin.
