Maestro Ideh Paez or Sir Ideh as he is fondly called, started his life as a musician when he was 15 years old, teaching his own classmates in preparing his own section for a school activity-based choir competition. Inspired by his member of the family who are all music enthusiasts (everyone can sing ) and a little knowledge of music inherited from his father (a church organist and cantor) he discovered his passion in music and pursued it as a career. Joseph, a scholarship was granted to him and sent to St. Scholastica's College in Manila to study Church Music, Choral Conducting and Arranging under the guidance, training and directorship of Sis. His musical talent in choral singing was honed since elementary and high school as a member of the school glee club, then joined and trained with the Metropolitan Chorus and became an active member of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) where he regularly attends seminars and workshops being held in different part of our country. As a choirmaster, Sir Ideh was given the chance and privilege to handle the STI Chorale, The Scene Steelers of the NSC, Tiples of Elizabeth Seton, Minstrels of Elizabeth Seton, Himig IUWATIKA Chorale and UCPB Chorale. He became the choirmaster of SJPChorale of Paranaque and had conducted the group since 1980. He became a music teacher, high school and elementary performing arts teacher, college professor and school administrator for more than a decade. Aside from being a choir conductor, he is also an author of Filipino books in high school and elementary level. The History

The formation of the Saint Joseph Chorale was initiated in 1972 by Rev. Fr. Leonardo Marquez, the first parish priest and Councilor Bro. Eliseo Edralin as the founder. With the help of his brother Mr. Servillano “Billy” Edralin, conductor of the AFP Band and UCCP Chorale, through his unselfish and untiring effort ( though he is a protestant ) recruitment of members were open to all who are willing to join. After series of auditions the cousins Edralin and with the guidance of Fr. Marquez, they were able to gather 50 members from Catholic and Protestant music enthusiasts. The training started for the purpose of conducting the first major fund raising project which will initiate in the reconstruction of the chapel into a parish church. Months later a musical concert was held in December 1972 entitled “The St. Joseph Chorale in an Inaugural Concert” (with a repeat performance due to a very successful performance) and followed in 1973 entitled “No Greater Love” An Easter Concert ( a singspiration cantata.) Since then, the construction started with the collaborative work of both catholic and protestant people. THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SAINT JOSEPH CHORALE

THE SAINT JOSEPH "PARISH" CHORALE

APRIL 11 1980, Rev Fr. Stephen C. Villanueva, then parish priest of Saint Joseph and Mr. Ideh S. Paez, as the choirmaster and the younger brother from one of the original members, formed the second batch by merging two groups of junior legionaries of Mary, "Regina Angelorum" and "Virgo Fidelis". Through the guidance and training, with Mrs Miriam Mendoza Parilla as the choir’s accompanist, then succeeded by his youngest brother Mr, Armando “Jhune” Mendoza, the group has carefully nurtured into the best respected parish choir. It grew, flourished and started to continue the dream of the original members and its founder by holding fund-raising concerts for the maintenance of the church facilities. Summer of 1981, the first election of officers was conducted through the guidance of the spiritual director and parish priest together with the advisers mostly members of the La Liga de San Jose. Edgar M. Viola became the first and official President. Since then, the election for the new set of officers continuously followed and conducted every year. Past Presidents:

In 1982, Rev. Steve Villanueva together with the elected officers of the group initiated the making and amendment of the Constitution and By Laws of the SJP Chorale, the first and only constitution in the parish done by the collaboration of members’ intellect and knowledge thru hard work and researches. Later on, they ventured outside the parish and participated in different choral competitions where they garnered multiple awards every year, outreach programs, street masses during Lenten seasons, guest performances, funeral masses and weddings

THE DOWNFALL AND RESURRECTION OF THE SJPC:

It was June of 2000 when the group encountered a very heartbreaking experience. They decided to leave their own parish for a while due to some personal conflicts with the newly installed parish priest of that year and baseless intrigues being thrown to them by some insecured and envious people of the parish. They were rudely driven away from their own parish causing them to follow and vacate their office for a very questionable and unreasonable cause. The controversy was brought out to the pastoral council meeting causing them to ask so many questions but the concern parish priest "denied" everything happened. He insisted making the people to believe him that the SJPC "abandoned" their duties and left the parish without his knowledge. It was very clear that he was there standing infront of the choir's office and rudely driving away the members saying " ano pa ang pwede nyong dalhin, dalhin nyo na lahat and vacate this office, ayaw ko nang makita ko pa kayo dito". Not to dismantle the group and to continue their spiritual and unselfish service to the church, they joined the Music Ministry of the Shrine of Jesus, The Way, The Truth and The Life, located at Macapagal Road near SM Mall of Asia. The SJPC stayed there for 7 years under the guidance of Msgr. They continuously perform their liturgical obligations and duties as guest choir every Saturday at 5:30 in the afternoon and join the other choir group for some other very important liturgical services. Three years later, the group tried so many times to return to their own parish but they found out that there are influential people within the parish who always block of their return. January of 2008 when the SJPC came back and returned after seven years of exile to its mother parish. In spite of the negative feedbacks and baseless intrigues from some members of the pastoral council, it was Rev Fr. Jose "Jolan" Landero the new parish priest of St. Joseph who insisted and tried all the best of his charm, knowledge, ability and effort to install again the legitimate parish choir to its churchbase. They were given the full support from the parish priest and priviledge to serve again . At present, they're now continuously perform their liturgical obligations and duties as the parish choir every 1st and 3rd Sunday at 7:00 pm, 2nd Sundays at 6:00 pm. and other important liturgical services at the Saint Joseph Parish Church of Tambo, Parañaque.
