Today, the Church remembers Saint Joseph Calasanz, a priest who dedicated his life to educating poor and disadvantaged children. Born in 1556 in Aragon, Spain, he eventually went to Rome, where he saw the great need for education among children who had little opportunity to study.

Moved by this need, he set aside a promising career and personally established free schools for poor children. His work eventually developed into the Order of Poor Clerics Regular of the Mother of God of the Pious Schools (Piarists). Despite opposition, misunderstandings, and even the suppression of his religious community, Joseph remained patient, faithful, and trusting in God. His work was recognized only after his death.

𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍
𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝. Saint Joseph Calasanz teaches us that when we work for the good of others, especially the poor and the young, we must remain patient and faithful even in the face of setbacks. Like him, may we place our trust in God, forgive those who oppose us, and continue doing what is right with love and humility.

Feast

Today, we celebrate the feast of Saint Bartholomew, Apostle, one of the Twelve Apostles and traditionally identified with Nathanael, whom Jesus praised as “an Israelite without guile” (John 1:47).

At first, Bartholomew questioned whether anything good could come from Nazareth. Yet when he encountered Jesus, his doubts gave way to faith, and he boldly proclaimed: “𝑹𝒂𝒃𝒃𝒊, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒅! 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝑰𝒔𝒓𝒂𝒆𝒍!” (John 1:49).

Bartholomew remained faithful to Christ and, according to ancient tradition, carried the Gospel to distant lands. He ultimately gave the greatest witness of all—offering his life for the Gospel in martyrdom.

𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍
God does not ask us to have all the answers before we follow Him. He asks us to come and see, to encounter Christ, and to allow faith to transform our doubts into courageous witness.

Like Saint Bartholomew, may we live with sincerity of heart, proclaim the Gospel through our words and actions, and remain faithful to Christ even when discipleship becomes difficult.

𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑
God and loving Father, you have given us the glorious Apostle Bartholomew as our beloved Patron Saint and powerful advocate in heaven.

We offer you our prayers, animated by a spirit of confidence that through the efficacious intercession of Saint Bartholomew, we shall merit your unfailing help and protection and shall ever remain loyal and devoted to Divine will all the days of our life.

Teach us to cherish, proclaim, and practice the Gospel message of Christ, which Saint Bartholomew so eloquently preached and finally sealed with his heroic martyrdom.

As we trustingly raise our minds and hearts to you, refuse not, O Lord God, our humble petition, but unite it with that of Apostle Bartholomew and of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Apostles; so that we may obtain the grace of true repentance for our sins, of divine assistance in our spiritual and temporal needs, and of constant fidelity to all our Christian duties.

Today, we honor 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒚, 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉, whose queenship flows from her intimate union with Jesus, the King. As His Mother and the humble servant of God, Mary shares in Christ’s mission and continues to intercede for His people with a mother’s loving heart.

𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧
Mary teaches us that true queenship is not about power or privilege, but about humble service, faithful love, and complete trust in God. Like Mary, may we allow Christ to reign in our hearts and, through our lives of love and service, help His light reach others.

O Mary Immaculate Queen, look down upon this distressed and suffering world. You know our misery and our weakness. O You who are our Mother, saving us in the hour of peril, have compassion on us in these days of great and heavy trial.

Jesus has confided to you the treasure of His grace, and through you He wills to grant us pardon and mercy. In these hours of anguish, therefore, your children come to you as their hope.

We recognize your Queenship and ardently desire your triumph. We need a Mother and a Mother's Heart. You are for us the luminous dawn which dissipates our darkness and points out the way to life. In your clemency obtain for us the courage and the confidence of which we have such need.

Today, the Church remembers Saint Pius X, the Pope who dedicated his life to renewing the Church and drawing the faithful closer to Christ.

Born Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto in 1835 to a poor family in Italy, he became a priest, bishop, cardinal, and eventually Pope in 1903. Despite the high office he held, he remained deeply rooted in humility, simplicity, and pastoral service.

Pope Pius X encouraged the faithful to receive Holy Communion frequently, promoted the early reception of First Communion by children, encouraged the reading of Sacred Scripture, and worked for the renewal of the Church's liturgical life. His deep love for the Eucharist was reflected in his well-known teaching that “𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧.”

Even as Pope, he retained a special affection for children and remained close to ordinary people. His personal motto was reflected in the words found in his will:

"𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙧, 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙧, 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙞𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙧."

Holiness does not require greatness in the eyes of the world.
Saint Pius X teaches us that we can renew the world by first allowing Christ to renew our own hearts. His life reminds us to remain humble, to love the Eucharist, and to serve others faithfully wherever God has placed us.

May we, like Saint Pius X, seek to “𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩.”

Today, the Church celebrates Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, a Cistercian abbot, theologian, preacher, counselor, and Doctor of the Church who lived in the 12th century.

At a young age, Bernard entered the monastery of Citeaux, bringing with him his brothers, relatives, and friends. He later became the founding abbot of Clairvaux, where his deep prayer, wisdom, and love for God became a source of light for the Church. Though he desired the quiet life of the monastery, his gifts brought him into the wider life of the Church—as a counselor to popes, mediator of disputes, defender of the faith, and preacher.

Yet beneath all his accomplishments was a life rooted in prayer and contemplation. Bernard understood that whatever good we accomplish for others must first flow from a heart that remains close to God. He was also deeply devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose example and intercession greatly influenced his spiritual life.

Today, we remember Saint Ezequiel Moreno, an Augustinian Recollect missionary, priest, and bishop who dedicated his life to serving God and His people in the Philippines, Spain, and Colombia.

Despite facing persecution, civil unrest, and serious illness, Saint Ezequiel remained a faithful shepherd. Even when he was afflicted with cancer, he endured his suffering with patience, courage, and unwavering trust in God. His life reminds us that holiness is not the absence of suffering, but the grace to remain faithful and loving in the midst of it.

As a missionary and pastor who once served in the Philippines, including as parish priest of the community that is now the 𝘿𝙞𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙖𝙣 𝙎𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙩. 𝙅𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙥𝙝 (𝘽𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙤𝙤 𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝘾𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙝), his witness continues to speak especially to those who are suffering.

𝐅𝐀𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍
𝙎𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙨. Saint Ezequiel teaches us to face trials with courage, entrusting our pain, fears, and hopes to God. Whether we are asking for healing or learning to accept God's will, we can remain faithful, knowing that Christ walks with us through every cross.

Loving God, in St. Ezekiel Moreno you have given us a model of courage in times of suffering.

I turn to you at this moment of my life for strength. Grant, through the intercession of St. Ezekiel, that I may receive your healing comfort and be restored to health of mind and body, should it be your holy will.

I also offer this prayer for those who are suffering from cancer and other life-threatening diseases, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Today, the Church remembers St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine and a woman whose life was marked by humility, generosity, perseverance, and deep faith.

Born of humble origins, Helena endured the painful separation from her husband and years away from the public eye. After her conversion to Christianity, she used her position not for personal glory, but to care for the poor, assist prisoners, and support the Christian community.

In her later years, Helena made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, where she helped establish places of Christian worship and became traditionally associated with the discovery of the True Cross of Christ. Her devotion reminds us that the Cross is not merely a symbol of suffering, but the sign of Christ's love, victory, and our hope of eternal life.

𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍
Like St. Helena, may we learn to carry our crosses with patience and hope, trusting that even through trials, God can lead us closer to Him.

May we also remember that true richness is not measured by wealth, position, or recognition, but by a heart willing to serve God and others.

Saint Clare of the Cross of Montefalco was born in Italy in 1268 and from her youth devoted herself to a life of prayer, penance, and service to God. She later became an abbess and a wise spiritual guide, known for her profound love for Christ and her deep devotion to His Passion.

Throughout her life, Clare sought to unite herself completely with Christ Crucified. During her final illness, she repeatedly told her sisters that she carried the Cross of Christ in her heart. After her death in 1308, her sisters discovered symbols of Christ’s Passion within her heart, giving a remarkable testimony to the love with which she had lived her vocation. She was canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1881.

𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧
Saint Clare reminds us that holiness is not simply about extraordinary experiences or heroic acts. It is about allowing God’s grace to transform our hearts and responding to Him with our whole life. Like Clare, we are invited to carry our crosses with courage, remain faithful in prayer, and allow the love of Christ to shape the way we live.

May our hearts, like hers, become a dwelling place for Christ.

O Saint Clare, virgin of the Cross, in whose heart the Lord engraved the mystery of His Passion, teach us to make our hearts His dwelling place. Obtain for us the grace to bear our trials with courage, to accept the cross He chooses for us, and to be renewed in prayer until we are conformed to His image. Amen.

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘 | 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 15, 2026 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲

Today, the Church joyfully celebrates the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, when we profess that, at the end of her earthly life, Mary was assumed body and soul into the glory of Heaven.

The mystery of 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒖𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒅𝒐𝒈𝒎𝒂 𝒃𝒚 𝑷𝒐𝒑𝒆 𝑷𝒊𝒖𝒔 𝑿𝑰𝑰 𝒐𝒏 𝑵𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 1, 1950, 𝒊𝒏 𝑴𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒎𝒖𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒔. Mary’s Assumption reminds us that the resurrection of the body and eternal life are not merely promises for the distant future. In Mary, we see the fulfillment of the destiny God desires for all who remain united with Christ in faith and love.

Mary is therefore our sign of hope and comfort. She has gone before us to the glory of Heaven, showing us the destination of our earthly journey. Her life also teaches us that keeping our eyes on Heaven does not mean turning away from the world. Like Mary in her Magnificat, we are called to praise God, rejoice in His mercy, and care especially for the poor, the vulnerable, and those who need our love.

𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐮𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐝.

May we follow her example by trusting God’s promises, saying yes to His will, and living each day with our hearts fixed on Christ and our hope set on Heaven.

O Mary, most pure,
O Mary, most sweet and beautiful,
O Mary, strong and thoughtful woman,
O Mary, poor and sorrowful,
O Mary, virgin and mother,
woman truly human like Eve, yet more than Eve.

You are near to God by your grace and privileges,
in your mysteries,
in your mission, and in your glory.
