Pain Endured Silently
Time and time again, I’ve come to see that when pain—especially the kind endured silently and deeply at work—is offered up to God, it is never wasted. The suffering I’ve experienced, and perhaps still carry, becomes something greater when surrendered to Him. It’s no longer just my burden; it becomes a hidden offering that strengthens not only our IT Infrastructure team but reaches beyond, uplifting the entire IT community and those unseen. And even in all this, I do not take the credit. I dare not. For I know it is God who works through every trial, every sigh, every silent endurance. I simply cooperate. What unfolds is nothing short of grace—a foretaste of heaven lived out on earth. These are the consolations that sustain me. And so, with all my heart, I praise You, Almighty God, for transforming pain into purpose and burden into blessing.

Post 2: Embracing the Journey
I just watched another inspiring video from the “Pilgrims of Hope” playlist, and I felt as if a warm light was ignited within me. The pilgrims experiencing transformation, forgiveness, and love reminded me that every pilgrimage—whether a physical journey or a step of faith—is a precious chance to reconnect with God. I feel grateful for the message that our lives can be transformed when we step out with hope, courage, and trust in the divine plan. This Jubilee year is a time for all of us to become true pilgrims of hope, and I’m ready to embrace every moment of it.

Post 1: A New Call to My Faith
Today, I spent some time watching the “Pilgrims of Hope” videos from the Jubilee 2025 playlist, and I’m filled with a renewed sense of purpose. Pope Francis’s invitation to become a “pilgrim of hope” resonated deeply with me. I realized that every step on my spiritual journey is an opportunity to open my heart to God’s mercy and grace. In these challenging times, I find comfort in knowing that hope does not disappoint. I’m excited to walk this path alongside a community of faithful believers, trusting that our shared journey will lead us to renewal and joy.

A concomitant distaste for the things of this world refers to a simultaneous or accompanying feeling of aversion or dissatisfaction with worldly pleasures, possessions, or material pursuits. In a religious or philosophical context, it suggests that a person, often because of a deeper spiritual orientation or search for meaning, naturally feels a growing detachment or lack of attraction to earthly or material things. This feeling usually arises alongside a pursuit of higher, non-material values, such as spiritual fulfillment, ethical living, or an awareness of transient, worldly attachments.

And Yes, St. Augustine of Hippo exemplified this kind of distaste for worldly things, especially after his conversion to Christianity. In his early life, he was deeply involved in the pleasures and pursuits of the world, from ambition and intellectual curiosity to indulgence in sensual pleasures. However, after his conversion, he began to see these pursuits as distractions from the deeper, eternal truths he sought. His writings, particularly in Confessions, express a sense of regret and distaste for the attachments he once held dear.

St. Augustine came to believe that true happiness and fulfillment could only be found in God, not in transient, worldly pleasures. This shift gave him a concomitant distaste for material things as he grew in his spiritual life, seeking instead to dedicate himself to God and the inner life of the soul. His philosophy strongly reflects this idea, as he famously said, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.”

The Psalms can be very similar to journaling your day-to-day experiences with God. They are a deeply personal and honest expression of the psalmists' hearts, reflecting their emotions, thoughts, struggles, and joys in their relationship with God. Just as a personal journal might capture your heartaches, victories, fears, and moments of courage, the Psalms do the same for King David and other authors, and me.

Parallels Between the Psalms and Personal Journaling:

1. Emotional Honesty: The psalmists, especially David, were not afraid to express their true feelings before God. They openly shared their sorrows, anger, doubts, and frustrations, as well as their joys, gratitude, and trust. Similarly, journaling can be a place where you pour out your heart, without holding back, trusting that God hears and understands.

2. Variety of Experiences: The Psalms cover a wide range of life situations, from times of deep distress and fear (like fleeing from enemies) to moments of awe and worship (like celebrating God’s creation or deliverance). In your journal, you might write about a difficult day at work, a conflict with a loved one, a moment of peace in nature, or a time of gratitude for a blessing received. Both capture the fullness of life's experiences in relation to God.

3. Dialogue with God: Many psalms read like conversations with God, where the psalmist speaks directly to Him, asks questions, seeks help, or offers praise. Journaling can be a similar practice of dialoguing with God, bringing your thoughts and prayers to Him in written form.

4. Reflection and Growth: The Psalms often include reflections on past experiences and God’s faithfulness, which helps the psalmist find hope and strength for the present and future. In journaling, you can look back at what you've written to see how God has worked in your life, how your faith has grown, and how He has answered your prayers.

5. Seeking Guidance and Strength: Just as David often sought God's guidance, strength, and reassurance in his psalms, you can use journaling as a way to seek God's wisdom and strength for the challenges you face each day.

6. Expression of Faith: Despite the struggles and questions, the Psalms often conclude with expressions of trust in God and declarations of His goodness. Journaling can help you articulate your faith, even in the midst of uncertainty, reaffirming your trust in God's presence and promises.

Conclusion

In essence, the Psalms are like a spiritual journal that captures the ups and downs of a life lived in relationship with God. Whether you are writing about your heartaches, victories, fears, or moments of courage, your journal can be a powerful way to connect with God, reflect on His presence in your life, and grow in your faith, just as the psalmists did through their poetic prayers.
