Today is The Annunciation of the Lord,
it reveals Mary as the perfect model of faith, obedience, and humility. When the angel Gabriel appeared to her, she was initially troubled but did not turn away. Instead, she listened, pondered, and ultimately responded with a courageous “Let it be done to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38).
Mary teaches us that true discipleship means surrendering to God’s will, even when we don’t fully understand His plans. She trusted in God completely, allowing Him to work through her for the salvation of the world. Her response challenges us to say “yes” to God in our own lives—whether in small daily acts of love or in major life decisions.
As we reflect on Mary’s example, we are reminded to be open to God’s grace, to listen attentively to His voice, and to respond with faith and love. Like Mary, we are called to bear Christ into the world through our words and actions.
May we learn from her example and strive to follow God’s will with the same trust and humility.
