King of Kings

Surrendering to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords doesn't remove your freedom but, rather, is how to finally find it.

May 28, 2026

Revelation 19:11-16

Scripture declares Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This isnโ€™t merely a titleโ€”itโ€™s the reality of who He is. The same Jesus who entered Jerusalem humbly on a donkey will one day return in power and glory. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11).

When Christ returns, He wonโ€™t come alone. Believers and angels will accompany Him on that great day. If you have placed your faith in Jesus, you share in His victory and will reign with Him (2 Timothy 2:12). This is the fulfillment of Godโ€™s promise that His people will participate in His kingdom.

One day Jesus will rule on this earth in perfect righteousness. But even now, He comes to reign in the heart of every believer. Salvation is just the beginning of all the blessings the Lord has in store for us.

Who rules your life? Who guides your decisions and directs your path? The Creator has a plan and purpose for your life, and He longs to reveal them to you as you walk with Him in trust and surrender.

When we submit to Christโ€™s loving authority, we discover freedomโ€”not restriction. Then we can experience the joy of living, as God intended for His children.

Bible in One Year: Nehemiah 4-7

Revelation 19:11-16

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.

12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.

13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.

15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.

16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, ``KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Philippians 2:10-11

10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

2 Timothy 2:12
12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us;

Will You Be Bored in Heaven? - Daily Hope with Rick Warren - May 27, 2026

โ€œIf you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you wonโ€™t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?โ€ Luke 16:10-11 (NLT)

If you think youโ€™re going to be bored in heaven, think again.

Youโ€™re not going to sit around on a cloud doing nothing in heaven. God wired you and knows what youโ€™re interested in. All your hobbies, skills, and talents come from him. He shaped you with your spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences. God didnโ€™t make you extraordinarily unique just for earth. Heโ€™s going to use your shape in eternity.

You will have work in heaven. But hereโ€™s the difference between work in heaven and work on earth: In heaven, youโ€™re guaranteed to enjoy your work. You wonโ€™t experience any heartache or stress over your work. It will be meaningful, enjoyable, and fulfilling all the time. Youโ€™ll have your dream job forever!

I donโ€™t know what your specific roles or responsibilities will be in heaven. But I do know that they will be based on how faithful you are with the roles and responsibilities God has given you on earth.

God is watching you, and heโ€™s testing you. Life is a temporary assignment, and God wants to see how responsible, faithful, and trustworthy you are with the responsibilities you have now.

What are you doing with what youโ€™ve been given? If you make the most of what youโ€™ve been given, then God is going to give you more in heaven. Youโ€™ll make it into heaven because of Godโ€™s grace, but your rewards and responsibilities once you get there will be based on how faithfully you served God on earth.

The Bible explains: โ€œIf you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you wonโ€™t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?โ€ (Luke 16:10-11 NLT).

God is watching to see how you manage your finances, your time, your relationships, your health, and your opportunities.

The way you manage your money is a test of your faithfulness, and itโ€™s going to help determine what you do in heaven. If God canโ€™t trust you with worldly wealthโ€”youโ€™re always in debt, you canโ€™t afford to tithe, and youโ€™re not generousโ€”then what do you think heโ€™s going to trust you with in eternity?

God is watching how you handle your responsibilities tooโ€”not because he wants to make you feel guilty but because he wants you to enjoy all the wonderful things heaven has to offer.

When you choose faithfulness in everything God has entrusted to you on earth, then you will be entrusted with much more in heaven.

Getting Back Up: Hope For What Is Ahead - Living Free - May 27, 2026

Scripture

But now, this is what the LORD saysโ€” he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: โ€œDo not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.

Isaiah 43:1-5 NIV

Thoughts for the Day

Change is not always easy, but God never asks us to walk through it alone. He does not promise that we will avoid deep waters, rivers of difficulty, or fires of oppression. But He does promise His presence. Resilience is not built on the idea that life will always be easy. It is built on the confidence that God is with us when life is not easy.

When life knocks us down, fear can try to convince us that we are alone, forgotten, or unable to recover. But God says, โ€œI have called you by name; you are mine.โ€ That truth gives strength to weary hearts. We may still face the waters, but we do not face them alone. The presence of God gives us courage to keep moving forward, even when the way ahead feels uncertain.

Hope grows when we remember who is walking with us. Our circumstances may be painful, confusing, or unresolved, but Godโ€™s presence gives us a foundation that trouble cannot destroy. He knows the path ahead, even when we cannot see it. The same God who has carried us before is able to carry us again. Resilience is strengthened when we stop measuring our future by our fear and begin trusting it to Godโ€™s faithful hands.

Consider this โ€ฆ

When you look at your current circumstances, do you focus more on the difficulty or on Godโ€™s presence with you in the difficulty? The Lordโ€™s presence can steady your heart even before your situation changes. You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. You are not beyond Godโ€™s reach. He is able to make a way through what feels impossible.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that I belong to You. When I pass through deep waters, remind me that You are with me. When I feel overwhelmed, help me trust Your presence more than my fear. Give me hope for what is ahead.

In Jesus' name. . .

The Exalted Lord

One day you'll see Christ exalted in glory, and you will join all heaven in worshipping the Lamb of God.

May 27, 2026

Revelation 1:9-18

The book of Revelation contains some of the richest descriptions of our Lord that Scripture offers. We love imagining Him as the baby in the manger and recognize the importance of His death and resurrection, but the story doesnโ€™t end there.

John was given a dramatic vision of the exalted Lord as He is now, in heaven. The apostle had shared intimate friendship with Christ on earth, but the sight of his Lord in this glorified state overwhelmed himโ€”he fell at Jesusโ€™ feet as though dead (Rev. 1:17).

Jesus is portrayed as the Lord of His church, which is represented by the seven lampstands surrounding Him. He protectively watches over them and calls them to faithfulness.

A few chapters later, Jesus is revealed as the Lamb of God. He is the One who sacrificed Himself on our behalf, His blood purchasing redemption for people from every tribe and nation, making them citizens of His kingdom. All heaven erupts into praise and worship (Revelation 5:6-13).

If you believe in Christ, these chapters describe your future. Picture yourself standing before Jesus, the exalted Lord of His church, and then joining all heaven in worshipping Him as the Lamb of God.

Bible in One Year: Nehemiah 1-3

Revelation 1:9-18

9 I, John, your brother and fellow partaker in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance which are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet,

11 saying, ``Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea."

12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands;

13 and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash.

14 His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire.

15 His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters.

16 In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength.

17 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, ``Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last,

18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

Revelation 5:6-13

6 And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.

7 And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

8 When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

9 And they sang a new song, saying, ``Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

10 ``You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth."

11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands,

12 saying with a loud voice, ``Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing."

13 And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, ``To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever."

Where Do You Want Your Rewards? - Daily Hope with Rick Warren - May 26, 2026

โ€œLove your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great.โ€ Luke 6:35 (NLT)

Heaven probably already sounds pretty good to you. But did you know there are going to be rewards in heaven?

You will be rewarded for everything you did in obedience to Jesus while on this earth.

God is watching everything in your life. You will be rewarded in heaven for your good actions, speech, and thoughts; for your character and good decisions; and for your generosity and sacrifices. Youโ€™ll be rewarded for loving your enemies and for not giving up when it was difficult to do the right thing.

You will be rewarded for bringing other people to Jesus Christ. (Is anybody going to be in heaven because of you?)

You will be rewarded for putting up with criticism for being a Christian and for being persecuted as a believer. Thatโ€™s why Jesus said, โ€œBlessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before youโ€ (Matthew 5:11-12 NIV).

God is watching it all and is going to reward it all.

These rewards have nothing to do with your salvation. The only way you get into heaven is by faith in what Jesus Christ has already done for you. You canโ€™t get into heaven by your good works. But the Bible says that when you get to heaven, you will be rewarded according to your good works.

There are all kinds of verses about this. Matthew 10:42 says, โ€œIf you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewardedโ€ (NLT). It seems like such a simple thing to give a cup of water to someone or to share a meal. But every time you do that, itโ€™s like God says, โ€œIโ€™m writing that one down. Iโ€™ve got them all recorded.โ€

You get to decide where you want your rewards. Do you want them in this life, or do you want them in the next life?

Jesus said, โ€œLove your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very greatโ€ (Luke 6:35 NLT).

If you choose this lifeโ€™s rewardsโ€”like popularity, wealth, fame, success, and comfortโ€”then you will enjoy them for only 80 years or so. But if you build up rewards in heaven, youโ€™ll get to enjoy those rewards forever.

Donโ€™t settle for the rewards this world has to offer. As a child of God, you have so much more to look forward to!

Getting Back Up: Ready For Change - Living Free - May 26, 2026

Living Free Every Dayยฎ

A ministry of LivingFree

Scripture

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV

Thoughts for the Day

Resilience begins with a willingness to let God change us. Many of us want life to improve, but we can hesitate when God begins showing us what needs to be surrendered. Change can feel uncomfortable because it often requires letting go of familiar patterns, old responses, and ways of thinking that have shaped us for years.

Paul reminds us that the old way of life must be put off and that we are to be made new in the attitude of our minds. This is more than simply changing outward behavior. It is allowing God to reshape us from the inside out. Resilience is not pretending we are strong; it is allowing God to renew us so we can stand, grow, and move forward in His strength.

Sometimes the hardest part of change is admitting that what once felt normal may no longer be healthy. We may have learned to survive by avoiding pain, controlling situations, reacting in anger, or withdrawing from others. But God does not shame us for where we have been. He invites us into something new. His grace gives us the courage to face the truth and the strength to take the next faithful step

Consider this โ€ฆ

What is one area of your life where God may be inviting you to change? Maybe it is an attitude, a habit, a fear, a relationship pattern, or a way you respond when life gets hard. Change does not usually happen all at once, but it begins when we honestly say, โ€œLord, I am willing.โ€ Today, ask God to help you take one step toward becoming the person He is calling you to be.

Prayer

Father, help me to be ready for the changes You want to make in my life. Give me courage to put off the old ways that keep me stuck and to walk in the new life You have provided through Christ. Renew my mind and shape my heart.

In Jesus' name. . .

Our God of Comfort

No mistake can diminish God's loveโ€”He meets every failure with comfort and grace.

May 26, 2026

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Consider how Godโ€™s tender care was demonstrated through Jesusโ€™ life. The Gospels repeatedly mention that the Lord was moved by compassion when He saw pain and need.

Jesus not only healed people suffering from illness but also offered something greater: new life through the forgiveness of sins. Even to His enemies, Jesus left the door open for repentance.

The Lord also had compassion on those who struggled because of their mistakes. Notice how Peterโ€™s betrayal of Christ was met with forgiveness and restoration (John 21:15-17) and Thomasโ€™s doubts were answered by Jesus Himself (John 20:27).

Today, Godโ€™s compassion is still available and personal. He knows when we hurt and offers comfort through His Spirit, who dwells within us (John 14:16-17 KJV). When our afflictions remain, He strengthens us to endure them (2 Corinthians 12:7-9). Whatโ€™s more, our mistakes in no way diminish His love for us.

No situation places us beyond Godโ€™s reach. His comfort meets us in every circumstance we faceโ€”whether illness, financial strain, or family crisis. And once weโ€™ve experienced His divine consolation, weโ€™re to become bearers of comfort to others (1:4). Since people everywhere are in desperate need of His compassion, thatโ€™s a powerful way to spread the good news of Christ.

Bible in One Year: Ezra 8-10

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

John 21:15-17

15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ``Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, ``Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, ``Tend My lambs."

16 He said to him again a second time, ``Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" He said to Him, ``Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, ``Shepherd My sheep."

17 He said to him the third time, ``Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, ``Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, ``Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, ``Tend My sheep.

John 20:27

27 Then He said to Thomas, ``Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing."

2 Corinthians 12:7-9

7 Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me--to keep me from exalting myself!

8 Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me.

9 And He has said to me, ``My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

Five Things That Wonโ€™t Be in Heaven - Daily Hope with Rick Warren - May 25, 2026

โ€œCan you understand the mysteries surrounding God All-Powerful? They are higher than the heavens and deeper than the grave. So what can you do when you know so little, and these mysteries outreach the earth and the ocean?โ€Job 11:7-9 (CEV)

When I was a little boy, we traveled to Disneyland for a family vacation. On the way there, my dad explained to me what it was going to be like. But no matter how he tried, there was no way for me to understand just how amazing that place was until I walked into the park for the first time. It far surpassed anything I had imagined it to be!

The Bible says, โ€œCan you understand the mysteries surrounding God All-Powerful? They are higher than the heavens and deeper than the grave. So what can you do when you know so little, and these mysteries outreach the earth and the ocean?โ€ (Job 11:7-9 CEV).

Heaven is a mystery that you will not fully understand until you arrive there. But the Bible does give important information about eternity, including five things that will not be in heaven.

In heaven, there will be no sickness. The Bible says, โ€œThis is how it will be when the dead are raised to life. When the body is buried . . . it is ugly and weak; when raised, it will be beautiful and strongโ€ (1 Corinthians 15:42-43 GNT). There wonโ€™t be any sickness because youโ€™re going to get a new, perfect body.

In heaven, there will be no sadness. God โ€œwill wipe every tear from their eyesโ€ (Revelation 21:4 NIV). God has kept a record of your tears and pain because he cares about you. But when you get to heaven, there will be no more broken hearts, rejection, loneliness, grief, or heartache.

In heaven, there will be no suffering. The Bible says, โ€œโ€˜Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,โ€™ nor any scorching heatโ€ (Revelation 7:16 NIV). Every one of your needs will be satisfied in heaven.

In heaven, there will be no sin. โ€œGod . . . will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single faultโ€ (Jude 1:24 NLT). Jesus Christ died on the cross and paid for all your sin so that when you see him face to face, your character will be instantly changed to be like him.

In heaven, there will be no death. โ€œThere will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone foreverโ€ (Revelation 21:4 NLT). Heaven is glorious in a lot of ways, but the best thing is that you get to be in Godโ€™s presenceโ€”forever.

The Bible says, โ€œWe donโ€™t know everything, and our prophecies are not complete. . . . Now all we can see of God is like a cloudy picture in a mirror. Later we will see him face to face. We donโ€™t know everything, but then we will, just as God completely understands usโ€ (1 Corinthians 13:9, 12 CEV).

One day itโ€™s all going to be clear. Itโ€™s all going to make sense. Youโ€™re going to be able to say, โ€œSo thatโ€™s why God allowed that in my life!โ€ Until then, God wants you to trust him.
