Faith, fellowship, and leadership highlight CK-Tarlac ABSC 2026
By: Ariel G. Ordonio
Tarlac Archdiocese

SAN JOSE, TARLAC — Embodying a vibrant spirit of devotion and camaraderie, the Crusaders Kabataan–Tarlac Archdiocese (CK-TA) successfully staged the annual Archdiocesan Bible Study and Camporal (ABSC) 2026 at the Burgos Chapter from May 16 to 20.

The five-day spiritual gathering commenced with participant registration, followed by an orientation on camp guidelines led by CK-TA President Jave Gene De Aquino, who emphasized discipline throughout the event.

Designed to enrich the faith and theological understanding of the youth, the camp featured a series of doctrinal discussions. A distinguished lineup of spiritual leaders spearheaded the formation sessions, including Rev. Fr. Alexien Rufino, Rev. Fr. Jeshrael Magliba, Rev. Fr. Benedick Rapadas, Rev. Fr. Allan Jay Palulan, and Rev. Fr. Leevan Cliff Calano.

Beyond the spiritual sessions, delegates showcased their knowledge and collaborative skills through the Battle of the Brains and Case Presentation competitions.

Furthermore, to balance intellectual rigor with fellowship and recreation, the camp featured a Socialization Night highlighted by a Pajama Party and the CK-TA Got Talent, where delegates showcased their diverse talents and creativity.

Moreover, Laurence Duldulao of the 3rd District secured the Archdiocesan Top 1 spot, making history by achieving the distinction for the third consecutive year.

As the camp concluded and delegates prepared to return to their respective communities, the prevailing sentiment was one of renewed purpose and inspiration. ABSC 2026 successfully reinforced the foundation of faith among Tarlac’s youth, demonstrating that faith and fellowship remain powerful guiding forces for the next generation of Church leaders. Equipped with deeper biblical understanding and stronger bonds of camaraderie, the Crusaders Kabataan are poised to bring the message of the Gospel back to their local communities.

Mapalawak ang Isip ng mga Kabataan Patungkol sa Katotohanan
ni: Ashnaira Nicole Salcedo
Tarlac Archdiocese

CMR-Tarlac hones local writers through Journalism Workshop
By: Ariel G. Ordonio
Tarlac Archdiocese

TARLAC PROVINCE — To elevate local journalism and strengthen the writing skills of its communicators, the Communication and Media Relations of Tarlac (CMR-Tarlac) spearheaded a journalism seminar and workshop at Burgos Chapter in San Jose on May 19.

The capacity-building activity was designed to enhance the technical and creative abilities of aspiring writers across the archdiocese. The session was led by Tarlac Literary Editor June Figuerao Jr., who guided participants on the proper and effective writing of literary articles.

Figuerao shared practical insights on crafting compelling narratives, engaging readers, and mastering the fundamentals of literary writing.

To ensure comprehensive media coverage of the event, representatives from the archdiocese’s six districts were officially tasked with producing daily news articles documenting updates and key developments during the Archdiocesan Bible Study and Camporal (ABSC) 2026.

By investing in the skills of its local communicators, CMR-Tarlac aims to foster a more informed, engaged, and connected archdiocese.

In the quiet yet powerful moments of Jesus Christ’s passion, not all disciples fled. While fear scattered many, a few remained and stood in silent courage at the foot of the Cross. Among them were two often-overlooked yet deeply faithful women: Saint Salome and Saint Mary of Cleophas, also known as Maria Cleofe.

Saint Salome is traditionally recognized as one of the women who followed Jesus during His ministry. She is often identified as the mother of James and John, two of Christ’s apostles. Though she once boldly asked for a place of honor for her sons in Christ’s kingdom according to Matthew 20:20–21, her presence at the Crucifixion reveals a deeper transformation: from ambition to humility, from seeking glory to embracing sacrifice. Saint Salome stood near the Cross (Mark 15:40), witnessed Christ’s suffering and remained.

Similarly, Saint Mary of Cleophas holds a quiet yet significant place in the Gospel accounts. She is mentioned in John 19:25 as one of the women standing by Jesus during His crucifixion: “Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother… and Mary the wife of Clopas.” She is often believed to be a relative of Jesus’ mother, Mary, who represents faith rooted in family, loyalty, and devotion. And despite the danger and grief surrounding that moment, she did not turn away; she also stayed.

What makes these women remarkable is not grand speeches nor dramatic actions, but their steadfast presence and unwavering faith. In a time of fear and despair they chose to stay and believe.

Their faith did not end at the Cross. According to the Gospels (Mark 16:1), they were also among the women who went to the tomb on Easter morning, and brought spices to anoint Jesus’ body. Instead of finding death, they encountered the first signs of the Resurrection—becoming, in a way, among the earliest witnesses to hope renewed.

Today, Saints Salome and Mary of Cleophas remind us that faith is not always loud or visible. Sometimes, it is simply about staying; standing firm in love, even when it is difficult, even when it hurts.

In their quiet courage, they teach us that true discipleship is not measured by recognition, but by faithfulness.
