THE POWERFUL PEACE OF JESUS

John 14:27 ICB
I leave you peace. My peace I give you. I do not give it to you as the world does. So don’t let your hearts be troubled. Don’t be afraid.

=> Kapatid, this world is full of troubles both from the outside and the inside of our lives. There is the constant struggle to survive in living physically and the steady quest to face tomorrow with the troubles of today. For many people, there is no peace in their life both inwardly and outwardly. But there is One who is the Source of peace. He rests peacefully in the middle of the storm, and then He commanded the storm to stop in order to show His peace. That is the LORD JESUS, kapatid, and He is telling you, "I give to you my peace." Receive Him, kapatid, and experience the powerful peace of the LORD JESUS.

You are my friends if you do what I command you.

=> Kapatid, let us understand this verse deeply. The LORD JESUS is your Friend because He loves you and He wants to save you. In fact, even if you don't love Him, He still loves you as friend. He died for You, because a true friend is willing to die for his friends. In short, the LORD JESUS considers you as His friend. But the question is this: Do you consider JESUS as your friend? Are you a friend of our LORD JESUS? The LORD says yes you are a friend of Him if you obey Him. There are many who say they are friends of the LORD but they disobey, they defy the LORD. Kapatid, be a true friend of JESUS. Obey Him in your life.

Yes, everyone who continues asking will receive. He who continues searching will find. And he who continues knocking will have the door opened for him.

=> Kapatid, asking, searching and knocking are acts of prayer. You ask, search and knock once or several times but there's no result. Do you stop? No, kapatid, continue asking, continue searching, continue knocking, continue praying. The LORD is just teaching you and me to be consistent and persistent in prayer. The LORD may delay His answer to your prayer, but He does not deny your prayer especially when your prayer is aligned to His will. Continue praying, kapatid.

PRAYER IN THE SECRET PLACE

Matthew 6:6 NKJV
But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

=> Kapatid, the LORD JESUS commands us to pray in the secret place -- in our rooms with closed doors. Why? Three things. One, the LORD wants us to pray not for a show that other people see. This is to teach us that prayer is a practice of humility, and pride is thrown outside the room. Two, the LORD wants us to be with Him in our solo presence, just the two of us. This is to teach us to be intimate with Him with no distractions from anything or anyone. Three, shut the door means not only closing the door of our room but also stopping our minds and hearts from doing all other things in order to focus on Him, to worship Him, to glorify Him, and to communicate with Him freely in the secret place. Kapatid, let us follow this command in prayer, and our FATHER will reward us.

=> Kapatid, the first message of the LORD JESUS is repentance. It means humbly changing our hearts, changing from living in sin to living in GOD and His Word, changing from a selfish and materialistic life to a selfless and spiritual life, changing from having a lazy and prideful heart to a having a vibrant and humble heart. Whether you are a believer or a nonbeliever, the first message to you is the same. Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near.

John 7:37-39 NKJV
“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. [38] He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” [39] But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

=> Kapatid, you received the HOLY SPIRIT the moment you believed and surrendered your life to the LORD JESUS. You notice this by your increasing interest in GOD's Word, in prayer, in worship, in changing your ways, in loving others, in defending the faith, in your willingness to sacrifice, etc. These are the "rivers of living water" flowing out through you because you have the Source, the HOLY SPIRIT in you. Continue living in the SPIRIT and be a means of GOD to satisfy the thirst of other people.

THE TRUE HIDDEN TREASURE

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

=> Kapatid, the field is the church, the Christian church and the treasure is JESUS our LORD who brings the Kingdom of GOD. In the past, you did not notice the church and the Treasure, like it was hidden because your focus was on the world. The Treasure has been there a long time but you did not mind it. But now, you see the Treasure, your JESUS our LORD, the One who truly loves you, the One who really cares for you, the One who forgives and cleanses you from all sin, the One who can bring you into the Kingdom of GOD where there is true peace, true joy, true hope in eternal fashion. Kapatid, go and sell all that you treasure in life and buy JESUS, the True Treasure, with your faith.

For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.

=> Kapatid, you take care of your own family because you love them. You are doing the good and right thing. In fact that is what the LORD JESUS meant when He commanded us to love ourselves. But He also commanded us to love our neighbors. He even calls them as mother, brother and sister. In short, family. So what should you do? Love, care, help and reach out to others. Share your life and love with them. Give them also your time, talent and treasure. They are your family also. Now let's do this kapatid, without neglecting our own family. Let us love our neighbors just as we love ourselves.
