Do You Have Eternal Life?
The Bible has a very clear answer regarding having eternal life. First, we need to recognize and confess that we have sinned against God. "For all have sinned and no one is worthy in the sight of God" (Romans 3:23). We have all done things that are not good in God's eyes, so it is only fitting that He punish us. Since all our sins are a rebellion against the eternal God, his punishment for those who sin is also eternal. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
Jesus Christ who did not commit any sin (1 Peter 2:22), and eternal Son of God became human (John 1:1, 14) and died to pay the punishment due for our sins. According to Romans 5:8, "God showed his love for us when Christ died for us while we were still sinners." Jesus Christ died on the cross (John:19-31-42) to accept the punishment we deserve (2 Corinthians 5:21). After three days, He was resurrected (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) as evidence that He has defeated sin and death. "Because of his great compassion for us, we were born into a new life through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That new life gave us great hope” (1 Peter 1:3).
We must believe in Jesus Christ and turn from our sins (Acts 3:19). Because if we believe in him and trust in his death on the cross for the payment of our sins, our sins will be forgiven and we will be given eternal life with God in heaven. "God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). "If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord, and believe with all your heart that God raised him again, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). "Only faith in Christ and what he did on the cross is the true way to eternal life, and it is a gift from God, not from you. This is not because of your works, so no one should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9).
