In this chapter, Apostle Paul is speaking to the believers in Rome who are already saved by the mercy of God. He begins this chapter by reminding them of everything the Lord has doneโHis grace, forgiveness, and salvation. Because of this mercy, we believers should learn how to respond to it.
In the Old Testament, sacrifices were physical offerings placed on an altar. But here, Paul is calling for a different kind of sacrificeโone that is alive. This means a continuous, daily surrender of one's entire life to God.
Moreover, Paul also warns believers not to be "conformed to this world." This means not allowing the values, systems, and sinful patterns of this world shape how we think and live. Instead of copying, we believers are called to live differently.
As believers today, we are reminded that Christian living is not about blending in, but about being transformed. When our minds are renewed, we begin to discern Godโs will and live in a way that is pleasing to Him.
