"Fix your eyes on Jesus, not on the storms."

In today’s Gospel, the disciples were in the middle of a storm. The waves were crashing, the wind was strong, and they were afraid. Then Jesus came walking on the water. Peter said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” And Jesus said, “Come.”

For a moment, Peter walked on water. Why? Because his eyes were fixed on Jesus. But the moment he looked at the storm instead of Jesus, he started to sink. Mt 14:30.

Life is full of “storms” — problems, anxiety, comparison, social media, money, pride, even good things that distract us. The wind is real. But the wind is not the whole story. Jesus is still there, walking toward us in the storm, saying “Take courage, it is I. Do not be afraid,” Mt 14:27.

“Fix your eyes on Jesus, not on the distractions.” Faith doesn’t mean the storm stops. It means we keep our eyes on the One who walks over the storm.

When we get distracted, we sink. When we cry out like Peter, “Lord, save me!” — Jesus immediately reaches out His hand, Mt 14:31.

So today, ask yourself: Where are my eyes focused: on the problem or on the Person? On the fear or on the Faithful One? Fix your eyes on Jesus. He will not let you drown.

You can't walk on water and stare at the waves at the same time.

God is not asking how strong our faith is. He is asking how faithful we are in the midst of the strong winds against us.
