And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you." โ Luke 22:19-20
On this day, Maundy Thursday, we reflect on the sacred moment of the Last Supper. Last Supper when Jesus Christ gathered with His disciples before the beginning of His suffering. In that quiet evening, He offered not only bread and wine, but His very self, giving a lasting gift of love through the Eucharist. When He said, โDo this in memory of me,โ He gave His followers a way to remember Himโnot only through ritual, but through a life shaped by love, service, and faith. ๐โจ
The room was filled with people who were close to Him, yet they were not without weakness. Among them were those who would soon struggle to stay awake in prayer, one who would deny Him, and another who would betray Him. Even knowing all this, Jesus still chose to sit with them, share the meal, and offer each one the same bread and cup. He did not withdraw His love because of their failures; instead, He showed that His mercy remains even when human hearts are imperfect.
This day reminds us that Godโs invitation is never reserved only for those who feel worthy. Through the breaking of bread, Jesus showed that His love reaches people in their weakness, fear, and uncertainty. The table of the Lord remains a place where we are welcomed as we are, called not because we are perfect, but because His grace is enough.
On this holy day, we are invited to remember that true love stays, forgives, and continues to give. ๐ค๐๏ธ
