July 19, 2026, the St. Michael the Archangel Parish joyfully celebrated its 5th Parish BEC Fiesta in Brgy. San Miguel, Palompon, Leyte. The highlight of the celebration was the Holy Eucharist presided by Rev. Fr. Danilo Zamora, Vicar Forane of the Vicariate of Palompon, together with Rev. Fr. Martin Cubi, BEC Priest In-charge, and Rev. Fr. Ramon Fian Jr. The liturgy was marked by vibrant participation from the parishioners, reflecting the spirit of unity and shared faith that BECs embody.

BEC Fiesta was more than a commemoration—it was a reaffirmation of the parish’s commitment to journey together as a community of faith. The presence of the clergy, led by Fr. Zamora, highlighted the importance of pastoral accompaniment in strengthening BECs.

His homily invited the faithful to see BECs not merely as structures but as living communities of disciples, rooted in Christ and sent forth to witness His love in everyday life.

This celebration reminds us that the vitality of the Church springs from the small communities where faith is shared, struggles are carried together, and mission is lived out in concrete acts of service.

The fiesta became a visible sign of hope: that in unity and simplicity, the parish can continue to grow as a synodal Church, faithful to its mission.

These meaningful words from 𝗥𝗲𝘃. 𝗙𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻, Spiritual Director of the Pontificio Collegio Filipino, echoed throughout our first session of 𝗨𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗱: 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 – 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 as we reflected on the 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀 and its call for a priesthood rooted in communion, service, and accompaniment.

As we journey together as a Synodal Church, we are reminded that Christ is present whenever His people gather in communion, participation, and mission. May this promise inspire us to listen deeply, walk humbly with one another, and discern God's will together for the life of the Church.

May our gathering be a space of encounter, dialogue, and shared mission, where every voice is valued and every step is guided by the Holy Spirit.

Growing as Wheat: A Synodal Journey of Conversion

God patiently calls us to conversion, giving us time to choose goodness and grow in faith. As a synodal Church, we are invited to walk together, accompany one another with mercy, and be guided by the Holy Spirit.

May we become fruitful disciples, reflecting God’s compassion, justice, and love in our communities.

Maaram po ba kita? 🙏♥️💒⛪️

𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪, 𝗞𝗔-𝗦𝗬𝗡𝗢𝗗?

Participation is one of the three pillars of Synodality.

In a Synodal Church, participation is more than simply being present or attending activities. It means that every baptized person is invited to share their gifts, talents, experiences, and voice in the life and mission of the Church.

As Filipinos, we already live out this spirit through values we know by heart:
Bayanihan – helping one another for the common good
Pakikibahagi – sharing our time, talents, and resources
Pakikisangkot – taking responsibility for our communities
Pagkakaisa – working together toward a common purpose

Every voice matters. Every gift is valued. Every baptized person has a place and a mission.

July 19, 2026: After the vibrant parade, the celebration of the 5th Parish BEC Fiesta continued with an opening prayer, animation led by the youth, whose energy and creativity brought life to the gathering. Their presentation reflected the dynamism of young parishioners as vital contributors to the mission of the Church.
This was followed by the welcome message of Rev. Fr. Ramon Fian Jr., (Parish Priest of the St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Brgy. San Miguel, Palompon, Leyte) who warmly greeted the faithful and emphasized the importance of unity and participation in the life of the parish. His words set a pastoral tone of encouragement and inclusivity.
The highlight of the session was the talk of Ms. Myra Victoria Pasayloon, Archdiocesan BEC Lay Coordinator, who expounded on the fiesta’s theme: “Usa ka hugpong sa katawhan nga nagdungan paglakaw padong sa sinodo nga simbahan” (A community of people journeying together toward a synodal Church). Her reflection invited everyone to deepen their commitment to synodality, stressing the values of listening, discernment, and shared mission.
Together, these moments enriched the fiesta’s program, weaving joy, pastoral guidance, and synodal reflection into a meaningful celebration of faith and community.

July 19, 2026, the program of the 5th Parish BEC Fiesta of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Brgy. San Miguel, Palompon, Leyte began with a joyous parade. From the parish church, the faithful, together with parish leaders marched in unity and festivity toward the Brgy. San Miguel Social Center.
The parade embodied the spirit of communion and celebration, as colorful banners, lively music, and the vibrant participation of the community reflected the theme of journeying together as one people of God.
This opening event set the tone for the day’s program, highlighting the joy of shared faith and the strength of the parish’s Basic Ecclesial Communities.The parade was more than a festive start—it was a symbolic walk of solidarity, reminding everyone that the fiesta is not only a cultural gathering but also a pastoral expression of synodality and mission. Others unable to participate due to the distance of their barangay but they were present during the Holy Eucharist.♥️🙏💒🎉🎈

The 3rd Basic Ecclesial Communities Assembly of the Vicariate of Tacloban will be held on July 18, 2026, with the theme “Sulong, Padayon and Duyog.” This gathering brings together parish leaders and faithful and clergy of the Vicariate of Tacloban to celebrate communion, strengthen mission, and affirm the journey of BECs in advancing, persevering, and walking together in faith.

On July 18, 2026, the St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Brgy. San Miguel, Palompon, Leyte will joyfully present the program for its 5th Parish Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) Fiesta.
With the theme “Usa ka hugpong sa katawhan nga nagdungan paglakaw padong sa sinodo nga simbahan” (A community of people journeying together toward a synodal Church), the celebration highlights the spirit of communion, participation, and mission.
The program will be formally introduced to the faithful, outlining the flow of activities that embody the parish’s commitment to strengthening BECs as living cells of the Church.
This presentation serves not only as a guide for the fiesta’s events but also as a pastoral invitation for every parishioner to walk together in faith, unity, and service.
Through this program, the parish underscores its mission of fostering synodality—where each member of the community is encouraged to listen, discern, and act together as one body of Christ. The presentation becomes a moment of anticipation and shared responsibility, preparing hearts and minds for a celebration rooted in faith and solidarity.
