ICYMI | Despite the bad weather and the downpour of rain, parishioners attended the afternoon Holy Mass for Ash Wednesday last February 18th, marking the beginning of the Lenten observance with the imposition of ashes.

The Ash Wednesday, a privileged feria, serves as the beginning of the 40-day observance of the Lenten season. This day is marked by fasting and abstinence as ordained in the Code of Canon Law, and is to be observed by all able-bodied Catholics on that day and on Good Friday.

ICYMI | Before sunset today and before the usual afternoon Holy Mass, the Parish, through our Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Amadeo C. Alvero, performed the Rite of Blessing and Burning of Palms to Ashes to be used for the Masses for Ash Wednesday tomorrow.

As it has been tradition in the Church, the palms blessed from last year's Palm Sunday are burned solemnly before the beginning of Lent. While there is no exact date for the burning, the Parish traditionally does it before sunset of Shrove Tuesday. The ashes obtained from these burned palms are the same ones used for the imposition of ashes in all the Masses of Ash Wednesday.

Tomorrow, the celebration of the Holy Mass in the Parish will be at 6:00 in the morning and 5:30 in the afternoon. All are enjoined to attend to this momentous ocassion as we begin the Most Sacred Lenten Season with prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
