Theme: RESISTING THE HOLY SPIRIT
Speaker: Ptr. Jun Atanacio
Scripture: Galacia 5:16
We will consider this powerful passage and ask ourselves a vital question for our own spiritual values:
I. Stiff-neckedness
Exodus 32:8-9
They have been quick to turn away from what I commander them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of calf. They have bow down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, These are young gods, Israel who brought you out of Egypt. I have seen these people" the Lord said to Moses and they are a stiff-necked people .
"A profound symbol of spiritual rebellion"
II. We resist when we do not submit to God
2 Chronicles 30:8
Do not be stubborn as they were, but obey the Lord come to the temple in Jerusalem, which the Lord your God has made holy forever, and worship him so that he will no longer be angry with you.
"Submission is the opposite of resistance. It is acknowledging God authority"
III. We resist when we reject correction
Proverbs 29:1
Whoever remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed - without remedy.
The Holy Spirit often brings correction through God's Word, through wise counsel, or through the consequences of our actions
Bible consistently insists on the profound importance of hearing the Word of God
