Corpus Christi Sunday

Today, on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, we are reminded that every grace and blessing we receive from God is never meant to be kept for ourselves alone.

The Eucharist is not only a gift to be received but a mission to be lived. When we truly encounter Christ in the Holy Eucharist, His presence should also be felt by those around us through our words, our actions, our service, and our love.

As Bishop Tonette reminds us:

“Anumang biyaya at pagpapala na ating tinanggap mula sa Diyos ay hindi para sarilinin kundi upang ibahagi. Ang tunay na pakikipag-isa kay Kristo ay dapat ding maranasan ng ating kapwa sa pamamagitan ng ating buhay.”

May the Body and Blood of Christ strengthen us to become living witnesses of His love, so that others may encounter Him through us.

In this age of social media, one careless post, one false accusation, or one emotional comment can easily destroy a person’s name, dignity, and peace. Not everything we feel is automatically true.

As Christians and as responsible citizens, we must learn to pause, verify facts, reflect, and think before speaking or posting. Maturity is not about winning arguments online. True maturity is knowing how to separate emotions from truth, opinions from facts, and anger from wisdom.

Social media should not become a place of hatred, fake news, pride, and personal attacks. Instead, may it become a platform for truth, respect, understanding, and responsible communication. 🙏📱

P E N T E C O S T S U N D A Y

Today, the Church celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit — the birthday of the Church itself. As Bishop Tonette shared in his homily, when the Holy Spirit came down upon the Apostles in tongues of fire, their fear disappeared and they began to preach and proclaim the Good News with courage and conviction.

The Holy Spirit does not create division but unity. He gives us the gift of understanding so that despite our differences, we may become one in Christ. He purifies our hearts from pride, hatred, selfishness, and all the things that hinder us from truly serving the Lord.

Just like the Apostles, many of us still carry fears, doubts, wounds, and uncertainties. Yet Pentecost reminds us that when the Holy Spirit moves, hearts change, courage is born, and faith becomes alive again.

“Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20:22)

Come, Holy Spirit. Fill our hearts with Your love, purify us, strengthen us, and lead us into unity and truth. 🔥🕊️

Why do Catholics pray before statues? 🤔

Many people misunderstand this practice and think Catholics worship statues. But the Catholic Church clearly teaches that worship belongs to God alone.

Statues are simply visual reminders — like family pictures that help us remember and reflect on people we love. In the same way, sacred images help Catholics focus their hearts and minds on God, Jesus, Mama Mary, and the saints who lived holy lives.

Catholics do not pray to statues or believe they have powers. Rather, they pray in their presence as an aid for devotion and reflection. When Catholics ask saints or Mary for intercession, they are asking them to pray with them and for them before God.

The Church also teaches the difference between:
🙏 Worship (adoration) — for God alone
🙏 Honor or veneration — given to saints because of God’s grace working in their lives

Even the Bible speaks about honoring faithful servants of God (Philippians 2:29), and Scripture itself contains sacred images used in worship settings, like the cherubim in the Temple and Ark of the Covenant.

Sacred images have been part of Christianity since the early Church. They helped teach the faith, especially during times when many people could not read.

At the end of the day, Catholic prayer is always centered on God. Statues are not idols — they are reminders of faith, holiness, and the “great cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1) who inspire believers to follow Christ faithfully.

Now you know 😊🙏

Corruption does not only destroy money, projects, or governments. It slowly destroys the minds of people, the conscience of followers, and the future of the nation itself.

One of the saddest realities today is that some people already defend wrongdoings as if truth no longer matters. Loyalty is good, but blind fanaticism that ignores justice, honesty, and accountability is dangerous.

A nation becomes weaker when corruption is normalized, celebrated, or excused. Let us pray not only for good leaders, but also for wise citizens who still choose truth over propaganda, conscience over pride, and love for country over political fanaticism. 🇵🇭🙏

ASCENSION SUNDAY

The Ascension of the Lord reminds us that our life here on earth is not permanent. Jesus returned to the Father, but before He ascended, He gave us a mission — to become witnesses of truth, faith, love, and hope.

Today, many are focused only on earthly ambitions, fame, power, wealth, and recognition. But the Gospel reminds us: “Go, make disciples.” Our true success is not measured by what we own, but by how we live, how we love, and how we lead others closer to God.

May we never forget that while our feet walk on earth, our hearts must always look toward heaven. 🙏✨
