▪️المُخْتَصَرُ فِي التَّفْسِيرِ
﴿إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ سَوَاۤءٌ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَأَنذَرۡتَهُمۡ أَمۡ لَمۡ تُنذِرۡهُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ٦ خَتَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ وَعَلَىٰ سَمۡعِهِمۡۖ وَعَلَىٰۤ أَبۡصَـٰرِهِمۡ غِشَـٰوَةࣱۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِیمࣱ ٧ وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن یَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَبِٱلۡیَوۡمِ ٱلۡـَٔاخِرِ وَمَا هُم بِمُؤۡمِنِینَ ٨ یُخَـٰدِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَمَا یَخۡدَعُونَ إِلَّاۤ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَمَا یَشۡعُرُونَ ٩ فِی قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضࣱ فَزَادَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مَرَضࣰاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمُۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡذِبُونَ ١٠ وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ لَا تُفۡسِدُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَا نَحۡنُ مُصۡلِحُونَ ١١ أَلَاۤ إِنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدُونَ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا یَشۡعُرُونَ ١٢ وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ ءَامِنُوا۟ كَمَاۤ ءَامَنَ ٱلنَّاسُ قَالُوۤا۟ أَنُؤۡمِنُ كَمَاۤ ءَامَنَ ٱلسُّفَهَاۤءُۗ أَلَاۤ إِنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلسُّفَهَاۤءُ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا یَعۡلَمُونَ ١٣ وَإِذَا لَقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ قَالُوۤا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَوۡا۟ إِلَىٰ شَیَـٰطِینِهِمۡ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا مَعَكُمۡ إِنَّمَا نَحۡنُ مُسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ١٤ ٱللَّهُ یَسۡتَهۡزِئُ بِهِمۡ وَیَمُدُّهُمۡ فِی طُغۡیَـٰنِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ١٥ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱشۡتَرَوُا۟ ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةَ بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ فَمَا رَبِحَت تِّجَـٰرَتُهُمۡ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهۡتَدِینَ ١٦﴾ [البقرة: ٦-١٦]
6️⃣
وَلَمَّا بَيَّنَ اللهُ صِفَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الْمُتَّقِينَ
And when Allah clarified the qualities of the pious believers,
الَّذِينَ صَلُحَ ظَاهِرُهُمْ وَبَاطِنُهُمْ،
those whose outward and inward states are righteous,
ذَكَرَ صِفَاتِ الْكَافِرِينَ
He mentioned the qualities of the disbelievers
الَّذِينَ فَسَدَ ظَاهِرُهُمْ وَبَاطِنُهُمْ،
those whose outward and inward states are corrupt,
فَقَالَ:
and He said:
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مُسْتَمِرُّونَ عَلَى ضَلَالِهِمْ وَعِنَادِهِمْ،
Indeed, those who disbelieve persist in their misguidance and stubbornness,
فَإِنْذَارُكَ لَهُمْ وَعَدَمُهُ سَوَاءٌ.
so your warning to them or lack thereof is the same.
7️⃣
لِأَنَّ اللهَ طَبَعَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ
Because Allah has sealed their hearts
فَأَغْلَقَهَا عَلَى مَا فِيهَا مِنْ بَاطِلٍ،
and closed them upon the falsehood within them,
وَطَبَعَ عَلَى سَمْعِهِمْ
and He has sealed their hearing,
فَلَا يَسْمَعُونَ الحَقَّ سَمَاعَ قَبُولٍ وَانْقِيَادٍ،
so they do not hear the truth with acceptance and submission,
وَجَعَلَ عَلَى أَبْصَارِهِمْ غِطَاءً
and He placed over their eyes a covering,
فَلَا يُبْصِرُونَ الحَقَّ مَعَ وُضُوحِهِ،
so they do not see the truth despite its clarity,
وَلَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ.
and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment.
8️⃣
وَلَمَّا بَيَّنَ اللهُ صِفَاتِ الْكَافِرِينَ
And when Allah clarified the qualities of the disbelievers
الَّذِينَ فَسَدَ ظَاهِرُهُمْ وَبَاطِنُهُمْ،
those whose outer and inner states are corrupt,
بَيَّنَ صِفَاتِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ
He clarified the qualities of the hypocrites,
الَّذِينَ فَسَدَ بَاطِنُهُمْ وَصَلُحَ ظَاهِرُهُمْ فِيمَا يَبْدُو لِلنَّاسِ،
those whose inner state is corrupt while their outward appearance seems righteous to people,
فَقَالَ:
and He said:
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ طَائِفَةٌ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ مُؤْمِنُونَ،
And among the people is a group who claim that they are believers,
يَقُولُونَ ذَلِكَ بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ
they say this with their tongues
خَوْفًا عَلَى دِمَائِهِمْ وَأَمْوَالِهِمْ،
out of fear for their lives and their wealth,
وَهُمْ فِي الْبَاطِنِ كَافِرُونَ.
while inwardly they are disbelievers.
9️⃣
يُخَادِعُونَ اللهَ وَالْمُؤْمِنِينَ
They attempt to deceive Allah and the believers
بِإِظْهَارِ الإِيمَانِ وَإِبْطَانِ الْكُفْرِ،
by showing outward faith while concealing disbelief,
وَهُمْ فِي الحَقِيقَةِ يُخَادِعُونَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ فَقَطْ،
but in reality, they are only deceiving themselves,
وَلَكِنَّهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ بِذَلِكَ،
yet they do not realize it,
لِأَنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى يَعْلَمُ السِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى،
because Allah the Exalted knows the secrets and what is even more hidden,
وَقَدْ أَطْلَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى صِفَاتِهِمْ وَأَحْوَالِهِمْ.
and He has informed the believers of their characteristics and conditions.

وَالسَّبَبُ أَنَّ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ شَكًّا،
And the reason is that in their hearts is doubt,
فَزَادَهُمُ اللهُ شَكًّا إِلَى شَكِّهِمْ،
so Allah increased them in doubt upon their doubt,
وَالْجَزَاءُ مِنْ جِنْسِ الْعَمَلِ،
and the recompense is of the same nature as the deed,
وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ فِي الدَّرْكِ الْأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ،
and for them is a painful punishment in the lowest depths of the Fire,
بِسَبَبِ كَذِبِهِمْ عَلَى اللهِ وَعَلَى النَّاسِ،
because of their lying against Allah and against people,
وَتَكْذِيبِهِمْ بِمَا جَاءَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ.
and their denial of what Muhammad ﷺ brought.
1️⃣1️⃣
وَإِذَا نُهُوا عَنِ الإِفْسَادِ فِي الأَرْضِ
And when they are forbidden from corruption in the land
بِالْكُفْرِ وَالذُّنُوبِ وَغَيْرِهَا،
through disbelief, sins, and other forms,
أَنْكَرُوا وَزَعَمُوا أَنَّهُمْ هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الصَّلَاحِ وَالإِصْلَاحِ.
they deny it and claim that they are the people of righteousness and reform.
1️⃣2️⃣
وَالْحَقِيقَةُ أَنَّهُمْ هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الإِفْسَادِ،
And the reality is that they are the ones who spread corruption,
وَلَكِنَّهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ بِذَلِكَ،
but they do not realize it,
وَلَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَنَّ فِعْلَهُمْ عَيْنُ الْفَسَادِ.
and they do not perceive that their actions are the very essence of corruption.
1️⃣3️⃣
وَإِذَا أُمِرُوا بِالإِيمَانِ
And when they are commanded to believe
كَمَا آمَنَ أَصْحَابُ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ،
as the companions of Muhammad ﷺ believed,
أَجَابُوا عَلَى سَبِيلِ الاسْتِنْكَارِ وَالاسْتِهْزَاءِ
they respond with rejection and mockery
بِقَوْلِهِمْ: أَنُؤْمِنُ كَإِيمَانِ خِفَافِ الْعُقُولِ؟!
by saying: Should we believe like these weak-minded people?!
وَالحَقُّ أَنَّهُمْ هُمْ السُّفَهَاءُ،
But the truth is that they are the foolish ones,
وَلَكِنَّهُمْ يَجْهَلُونَ ذَلِكَ.
but they are ignorant of that.
1️⃣4️⃣
وَإِذَا الْتَقَوْا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالُوا: صَدَّقْنَا بِمَا تُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ،
And when they meet the believers, they say: We believe in what you believe in,
يَقُولُونَ ذَلِكَ خَوْفًا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ،
they say this out of fear of the believers,
وَإِذَا انْصَرَفُوا عَنِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِلَى رُءُسَائِهِمْ مُنْفَرِدِينَ بِهِمْ،
but when they withdraw from the believers to their leaders, alone with them,
قَالُوا مُؤَكِّدِينَ ثَبَاتَهُمْ عَلَى مُتَابَعَتِهِمْ: إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ عَلَى طَرِيقَتِكُمْ،
they say, confirming their loyalty: Indeed, we are with you upon your path,
وَلَكِنَّا نُوَافِقُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ظَاهِرًا
but we only agree with the believers outwardly
سُخْرِيَّةً بِهِمْ وَاسْتِهْزَاءً.
as mockery and ridicule.
1️⃣5️⃣
اللهُ يَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ
Allah mocks them
فِي مُقَابَلَةِ اسْتِهْزَائِهِمْ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ،
in response to their mockery of the believers,
جَزَاءً لَهُمْ مِنْ جِنْسِ عَمَلِهِمْ،
as a recompense similar to their own actions,
وَلِهَذَا أَجْرَى لَهُمْ أَحْكَامَ المُسْلِمِينَ فِي الدُّنْيَا،
and thus He allowed worldly rules of Muslims to apply to them,
وَأَمَّا فِي الْآخِرَةِ فَيُجَازِيهِمْ عَلَى كُفْرِهِمْ وَنِفَاقِهِمْ،
but in the Hereafter He will punish them for their disbelief and hypocrisy,
وَكَذَلِكَ يُمْلِي لَهُمْ
and He also gives them respite
لِيَتَمَادَوْا فِي ضَلَالِهِمْ وَطُغْيَانِهِمْ،
so that they may continue in their misguidance and transgression,
فَيَبْقَوْا حَائِرِينَ مُتَرَدِّدِينَ.
remaining confused and wavering.
1️⃣6️⃣
أُولَئِكَ هُمُ السُّفَهَاءُ
They are the foolish ones
لِأَنَّهُمْ اسْتَبْدَلُوا الْكُفْرَ بِالإِيمَانِ،
because they exchanged belief for disbelief,
فَمَا رَبِحَتْ تِجَارَتُهُمْ،
so their "trade" did not profit,
لِخَسَارَتِهِمُ الإِيمَانَ بِاللهِ،
as they lost faith in Allah,
وَمَا كَانُوا مُهْتَدِينَ إِلَى الحَقِّ.
and they were never guided to the truth.

مِنْ فَوَائِدِ الآيَاتِ:
•أَنَّ مَنْ طَبَعَ اللهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ بِسَبَبِ عِنَادِهِمْ وَتَكْذِيبِهِمْ
That those whose hearts Allah has sealed because of their stubbornness and denial
لَا تَنْفَعُ مَعَهُمُ الآيَاتُ وَإِنْ عَظُمَتْ.
are not benefited by the signs, even if they are great.
•أَنَّ إِمْهَالَ اللهِ تَعَالَى لِلظَّالِمِينَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ
That Allah’s delaying of the wrongdoers and deniers
لَمْ يَكُنْ عَنْ غَفْلَةٍ أَوْ عَجْزٍ عَنْهُمْ،
is not due to heedlessness or inability concerning them,
بَلْ لِيَزْدَادُوا إِثْمًا،
but so that they may increase in sin,
فَتَكُونَ عُقُوبَتُهُمْ أَعْظَمَ.
thus making their punishment greater.
