10 TYPES OF PEOPLE WHO SHOULD NOT BE APPOINTED CHURCH OFFICERS--If you want a healthy, growing, drama-free ministry.
BEFORE YOU APPOINT THAT CHURCH OFFICER — READ THIS!
Not everyone who smiles, prays loud, or shows up early is fit for church leadership. Some people may love God sincerely but ARE NOT YET READY to carry the weight of spiritual responsibility.
1. THE UNFAITHFUL & INCONSISTENT
If they cannot be trusted with small things, they cannot be trusted with bigger kingdom assignments.
“Moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” — 1 Cor. 4:2
You cannot promote inconsistency and expect stability!
2. THE EASILY OFFENDED / OVERLY SENSITIVE
Offence is a weight leadership cannot carry. Leadership requires thick skin and a tender heart.
“Great peace have they which love Thy law: nothing shall offend them.” — Ps. 119:165
Offended leaders create offended members.
3. THE GOSSIPS & TALEBEARERS
If their tongue creates fire, don’t let their hands hold office.
“A talebearer revealeth secrets.” — Prov. 11:13
A gossiping worker is a satanic gift to destroy unity!
4. THOSE WHO DON’T SUBMIT TO AUTHORITY
If they resist order, they cannot enforce order.
“Obey them that have the rule over you…” — Heb. 13:17
Rebellion in leadership produces rebellion in membership.
5. THE UNTEACHABLE (KNOW-IT-ALLS)
When someone believes they know more than scripture, pastor, and experience combined — RUN.
“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes.” — Prov. 12:15
You cannot disciple someone who refuses correction.
6. THE PRAYERLESS & SPIRITUALLY DRY
Church leadership is spiritual warfare — not decoration.
“Men ought always to pray and not to faint.” — Luke 18:1
A prayerless leader will produce a powerless church!
7. THE MONEY-LOVERS / COVETOUS
If their heart is not free from greed, your church finances are not safe.
“The love of money is the root of all evil.” — 1 Tim. 6:10
Don’t hand church money to someone who cannot handle personal money.
8. THE BACKBITERS & CRITICS OF THE PASTOR
If they tear down the shepherd, they will scatter the sheep.
“Touch not mine anointed…” — Ps. 105:15
Promotion should never be given to those who pull down leadership.
9. THOSE WITH POOR CHARACTER / NO INTEGRITY
Gifted but not godly? That is a spiritual disaster waiting to happen.
“By their fruits ye shall know them.” — Matt. 7:20
Character is heavier than charisma.
10. THE UNFAITHFUL IN GIVING / TITHING
If they can’t honour God with finances, they shouldn’t manage His house.
“Bring ye all the tithes…” — Mal. 3:10
Don’t place non-givers over givers — it kills church growth.
Let’s grow the church together!
