The Apostleship of Prayer Youth of St. Pius X started its humble beginning on May 1982 with the help and support of Sister Mely Pilande and of the late Rev. Ernesto Tobillo, Parish Priest of St. Pius X, Paco, Manila. When the seven youth apostles of St. Pius X attended the two-day seminar for the Apostleship of Prayer Youth held at the San Carlos Seminary on the 23rd and 24th of May, 1982 namely:
Bro. Dict Pilande, Bro. Noel Lobrio, Sis. Leny Laguitan, Sis. Lanie Laguitan, Sis. Lorelei Lacdao and Sis. Aleli Jonson, they began to propagate the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus by instructing the faithful on spiritual prayer and to promote apostolic spirituality. Shortly after the organization was formed, they established set of officers. Bro. Cesar Deveraturda became the first president of the APY. In his administration, he started to build a choir. The group went about its regular practice led by Bro. Noel Espenida (now he is a well known and highly respected composer and arranger and a loving husband of Sis. Lenie Laguitan, one of the founders of APY St. Pius X). As years went by after the administration of Bro. Cesar, Sis. Aleli Jonson took over as a president of APY in 1984. On the 3rd of October, 1986 (First Friday) the Image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was inaugurated with the help and support of Bro. Rene Gonzales by the members of the APY. One of the activities of the APY was the enthronement of the Sacred Heart in which the head of the household consecrated the members of the household to the Sacred Heart. Then the blessed image of the Sacred Heart was enthroned in the home to serve as a constant reminder of their consecration to the Sacred Heart. On November 20, 2012, the group changed its name from Apostleship of Prayer Youth to Apostleship of Prayer because of its growing numbers and vast composition of ages. As it expand its number through years, it still stands and continuously propagate its mission to community.
