STAY SAFE EVERYONE!
Please be advised that the "raining dust" being experienced in parts of Cebu is reportedly volcanic ash from this morning's eruption of Mt. Kanlaon, combined with monsoon haze. Unlike ordinary dust, volcanic ash is made up of fine, abrasive rock particles that may pose health and safety risks.
To help ensure everyone's safety, please observe the following precautions on campus and while traveling:
* Wear a face mask. All are strongly encouraged to wear an N95 or surgical mask when outdoors to reduce inhalation of volcanic ash.
* Keep classrooms and offices closed. Close all windows and doors, and avoid using ventilation or air-conditioning systems that draw air from outside.
* Protect your eyes. If your eyes feel irritated or gritty, avoid rubbing them. If possible, wear eyeglasses instead of contact lenses.
* Exercise caution when traveling. Roads may become slippery due to the combination of volcanic ash and light rain. Please drive carefully and allow extra travel time.
Reports also indicate that some nearby areas have experienced a sulfur-like odor and light ashfall.
For everyone's safety, we strongly advise the following:
* Wear a face mask whenever you need to go outdoors.
* Stay indoors as much as possible.
* Limit outdoor activities to essential travel only until air quality improves.
Please continue to monitor updates from local authorities and follow official advisories. Stay safe and take the necessary precautions.

Almighty Father, we raise our hearts to You in gratitude for the wonders of creation of which we are part, for Your providence in sustaining us our needs, and for Your wisdom that guides the course of the universe.
We acknowledge our sins against You and the rest of creation. We have not been good stewards of nature. We have confused Your command to subdue the earth. The environment is made to suffer our wrong-doing, and now we reap the harvest of our abuse and indifference.
Typhoons, heavy rains, and floods occur in increasing number and intensity. We turn to You, our loving Father, and beg forgiveness for our sins. We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard earned possessions be spared from the threat of calamities, natural and man-made.
We beseech You to inspire us all to grow into responsible stewards of Your creation, and generous neighbors to those in need. Amen.
