Why Should You Not Envy? | Proverbs

Sama kayo ngayong Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM para sa Taglish Worship Service ng Subic Bay Community of Faith.

Speaker: Rev. Maurice Adam Rivera

Main Idea: LET GO OF ENVY

Key Truths:

Why Should You Not Envy? | Proverbs

Join us this Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 10:30 AM for our English Worship Service at Subic Bay Community of Faith.

Speaker: Rev. Maurice Adam Rivera

Envy is a common human struggle that leads to destructive emotions, beginning with comparing ourselves to others and longing to have what they possess. It blinds us from appreciating our own blessings and distracts us from our personal growth. Today, we will learn why it is very important to recognize when envy arises and to seek God's wisdom in dealing with it, so we can guard our hearts and embrace a life of joy and contentment.

Main Idea: LET GO OF ENVY

Key Truths:

ENVY DESTROYS: Envy is like a disease that slowly eats away at you from the inside. When envy takes hold, it consumes your peace of mind and can prevent you from appreciating what you have, ultimately damaging both your mental and physical well-being.

ENVY COMPROMISES YOUR FAITH: We are warned not to envy or admire violent and wicked people who prosper because of their greed and corruption. Do not envy the wicked and be tempted to compromise your integrity and faith just to acquire wealth, for real wealth is found in contentment.

TRUE SATISFACTION COMES FROM THE LORD: The antidote to envy is to continually fear the Lord. By maintaining our reverence to the Lord, we shift our focus away from comparing ourselves to others and acknowledge His greatness in our lives.

Last Friday at our prayer meeting, we learned that prayer is the power of the church. Prayer is not simply a routine or religious activity. It is where weary hearts are strengthened, anxious minds find peace, and broken spirits are restored by the presence of God.

Psalm 31:10–16 paints a powerful picture of King David’s suffering and faith. David openly expressed his anguish, exhaustion, fear, rejection, and pain before the Lord. He said, “My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction” (v.10). He felt forgotten, abandoned, and broken like shattered pottery. Yet despite the darkness surrounding him, David still chose to trust God. In verse 14, he declared, “But I trust in You, Lord; I say, ‘You are my God.’” This shows us that prayer is not only for moments of victory, but especially for seasons of weakness and suffering.

During our group discussion, one truth became very clear: our God is a God who never forsakes His people. He is a God for everyone—the God of mercy, the God of grace, the God of truth, and the God of love. Even when life feels heavy and overwhelming, His unfailing love remains constant. David’s cry reminds us that God welcomes us in our weakness. We do not have to pretend to be strong before Him. Prayer allows us to surrender every burden, fear, anxiety, burnout, and silent struggle into His hands.

The song “Blessings” reminds us of this powerful truth: “What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?” Sometimes the very trials that weaken us are the same moments God uses to draw us closer to Him in prayer. Difficult seasons often teach us dependence on God more than comfort ever could. Prayer shifts our perspective from fear to faith. Like David, we can say, “My times are in Your hands” (v.15), trusting that God is sovereign even in seasons of waiting, testing, and pain.

The love of God anchors us when everything around us feels unstable. Storms may come, but God continues to steady our hearts in the midst of them. Trials may not disappear immediately, but through prayer we experience His peace, strength, and presence.

So if you are feeling exhausted, burdened, or spiritually weary, perhaps this is God’s invitation for you to come closer to Him in prayer. Join us this Friday for our prayer meeting, and together let us experience the power, comfort, grace, and unfailing love of God as one church family.

Why Is Seeking Godly Advice Important? | Proverbs

Sama kayo ngayong Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:00 PM para sa Taglish Worship Service ng Subic Bay Community of Faith.

Speaker: Rev. Maurice Adam Rivera

Main Idea: SEEK GODLY ADVICE

Key Truths:

Why Is Seeking Godly Advice Important? | Proverbs

Join us this Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 10:30 AM for our English Worship Service at Subic Bay Community of Faith.

Speaker: Rev. Maurice Adam Rivera

In our everyday life, we often hear people giving and receiving advice. However, most of them tend to give worldly or selfish advice rather than truly helpful guidance. Godly advice, on the other hand, is advice based on what God teaches in the Bible, and it encourages us to do what is right and to trust God’s plan for our lives. Today, we return to our series in the Book of Proverbs to learn about the importance of seeking godly counsel.

Main Idea: SEEK GODLY ADVICE

Key Truths:

THE DANGERS WHEN GUIDANCE IS ABSENT: Without wise counsel or guidance, a person may make impulsive or wrong choices that can lead to regret, mistakes, or harm to themselves and others. When we try to navigate life on our own without seeking godly counsel, we risk taking the wrong path and wandering further from our true destination.

THE PATH TO THE RIGHT DIRECTION: A truly wise person recognizes the value of others' perspectives and is humble enough to seek and consider advice before making decisions. Wisdom grows not alone but with the help of others who see things through different eyes.

THE BENEFITS OF WISE COUNSEL: Learning from wise counsel and gaining guidance can save us time, money, and emotional pain. If we are surrounded by wise and godly people who can guide us with the wisdom that comes from the Word of God, it helps us understand what it means to live in accordance with the will of God.

The Unseen Mother: How God Honors What No One Applauds

Happy Mother's Day! Join us this Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 10:30 AM for our English Worship Service at Subic Bay Community of Faith.

Guest Speaker: Ms. Febe Pantoja (Church Renewal International)

Today, we take a Series Break to honor all mothers. A lot of the work that mothers do happens behind closed doors, uncelebrated and unseen by the world. But today’s message reminds us that the unseen sacrifices of a mother are never unseen by God. Looking at the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus, we will see how God values and sustains mothers through every difficult season.

Main Idea: Motherhood is a remarkable gift and privilege, not because it’s public, but because it’s personal to God. He sees, He calls, He stays, and He rewards what the world overlooks.

Key Truths:

TRUTH #1: God chooses ordinary moms for extraordinary callings. (Luke 1:26-38)

TRUTH #2: God sustains moms through seasons no one sees. (Luke 2:6-7, 22-35, 41-52)

TRUTH #3: God honors moms who stay at the foot of the cross. (John 19:25-27; Luke 1:46-55)

Conclusion: Life-changing perspectives for mothers

Motherhood is a Sacred Calling — Given by God, Not Earned by You.

Motherhood Comes with Hidden Sacrifices — and Hidden Strength.

Motherhood is a Privilege — Because You Partner with God in the Impossible.
