There have been many times in my life when I strongly pursued my personal desires for wealth, recognition, and success, and even with only a few achievements, I began to develop pride and an unhealthy sense of self-importance. The Lord reminds me that I cannot truly follow Him if my heart is filled with pride, sin, and selfish ambition, and He calls me instead to surrender and entrust everything to Him. What value is there in gaining great wealth or success if my soul is being lost, and what is the purpose of achieving everything if it does not lead me closer to God and eternal life? The truth is that everything in this world will fade, but the soul will live forever, and no amount of money, fame, or achievement is worth losing what God has given for eternity.
I often feel pressured by where I am in life, especially when I feel stagnant in my work and uncertain about my growth, yet God continually reminds me that money, fame, and career success are meaningless without Him. Therefore, I choose to deny myself, let go of my selfish desires, and fully surrender my life to God, trusting Him to guide my future and lead me according to His will.
"Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?"
