THROUGH THE BIBLE: Deuteronomy Part 5

On Whose Terms?

When that time comes, you must not do as you have been doing. Until now you have all been worshipping as you please… Do not worship the Lord your God in the way that they worship their gods, for in the worship of their gods they do all the disgusting things that the Lord hates. They even sacrifice their children in the fires on their altars.
Deuteronomy 12:8, 31 (GNT)

The Lord God shares what He values and hates in Deuteronomy 12-15. As the God of faith, hope, and love, there are ways in which He wants His people to live and worship, such as canceling debts every seventh year or taking a tenth of one’s produce to honor Him. The Lord values these ways because they reflect His nature. Correspondingly, the surrounding nations take alternative approaches to daily living and worship, which sometimes involve sacrificing one’s children or cutting oneself during mourning. To the Lord God, it is not possible to adopt practices that are inherently against His nature.

Today, because of Jesus, we are given both wisdom and power to live according to His ways. Nevertheless, let us examine ourselves (2 Corinthians 13) to ensure that our lives and worship are on God’s terms, as opposed to those of this world.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for showing us the way everlasting. Help us each day to know Your ways better and to live in them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Assignment: Deuteronomy 12, 13, 14 & 15

CRC 40th Anniversary Evangelism Event with the PWD Association

We are truly honored and blessed to share God’s love with the PWD Association of Sta. Rita.

We were deeply inspired and encouraged by Bro. Oliver Latigar’s powerful testimony, reminding us of God’s faithfulness and the beautiful ways He works through every life and every story.

It was a day filled with His love, joy, and presence surrounding us. We are grateful for every opportunity to serve, connect, and share the hope we have in Christ.

All glory belongs to God!

Love. Live. Serve Like Christ.

THROUGH THE BIBLE: Deuteronomy Part 4

Great is Thy Faithfulness
Not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart are you going in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the Lord your God is driving them out from before you, and that he may confirm the word that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
Deuteronomy 9:5 (ESV)

Near the end of their wandering in the wilderness for 40 years, the new generation of Israelites was about to enter the Promised Land and Moses reminded them it was God’s faithfulness that they would possess the Promised Land that their fathers had forfeited due to their rebellion. Yet during the whole time, while they were wandering in the wilderness, God journeyed with them and provided manna and meat to feed them.

The heart of God is always to bless us and not to harm us, to give us hope and a future. We don’t have to make God love us because He always does. We don’t need to beg for His favor because He has already given us Jesus. How will He not with Him graciously give us all things? However, the appropriation of God’s blessings is by faith and obedience. We can have faith in our Lord Jesus who has accomplished all things and fulfilled all laws for us, who is able and willing to redeem all our curses. Obedience to God’s Word and His voice is a response to His love and faithfulness. Know that His ways and thoughts are higher than ours and they are to set us up to be blessed and a blessing.

Assignment: Deuteronomy 9, 10 & 11

Prayer:
Dear Father, we praise You for Your faithfulness that is eternal and Your love that is unfailing. We thank You for giving us the best of heaven and we pray that we will respond to Your love with love and that Jesus will help us to live a life of obedience and be a blessing to the world. Amen.
