Education is important. But, let us contemplate for a momentโ€” is it really our ultimate purpose? Is this why we are here on earth, why we were born? Is it simply to finish a degree and get a job to provide for our family? Or perhaps you are meant for moreโ€” for Godโ€™s glory.

You see, death is inevitable. We will all die. Our bodies will decay. But the question remains:

Reading the Bible has been the least common thing to be done in our time, even by the modern Christian. Some say they read the Bible, only to find out that what they mean is that they see verses popping out on TikTok. Or maybe a verse in a Facebook post, maybe a verse on someoneโ€™s bio. Some so that they see verses, download an app that pops up verses on the screen. The longest time one would hear of Godโ€™s word could even be only on a Sunday service. Yet then we ask ourselves, โ€œWhy canโ€™t I hear God?โ€, or โ€œWhy do I feel sorrowful?โ€

Bible reading has been more of a searching for an inspirational quote than what it really ought to beโ€”a necessity. People quoting and having โ€œlife versesโ€ but not even knowing what the verses really mean. Verses have been finger-picked according to one's own preferences totally distorting its point. Is this how we ought to approach Godโ€™s word?

People literally bled, were killed, and some were burned alive so that you could read your Bible. Yet only to be left on the corner of your room as a design, an app never to be downloaded on your devices. Did they die in vain? To the reader, I hope to encourage you to read your Bible and that you may see its value.

Iโ€™d like to give 3 simple reasons why you should read the Bible(there are many other reasons), to atleast give a glance of why we ought to.
1. ๐—œ๐˜ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—š๐—ผ๐—ฑโ€™๐˜€ ๐—ช๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ (2Tim 3:16โ€”All Scripture is breathed out by Godโ€ฆ)
The same word that God commanded to create the universe is the same word that is in our Bibles (Gen.1โ€”God saidโ€ฆand it was so). The same power in creation, the same in the written word. The same breath that brought life to man (Gen2:7), is the same breath in the word that too brings life to one.

It is the same word by which He talks to us. Some of us desire to hear God's voice, waiting for a calm voice whispered in your ear, but I tell you the Bible is Godโ€™s Word. If you desire to hear him, then take up and read.

(John 8:31-32, Prov. 2:1-5, 2Tim 2:15)
I say โ€œNecessaryโ€ because Bible reading is the ordinary means by which God brings us to faith in Christ.โ€”โ€œSo faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christโ€[Romans 10:17]. Earlier in the text Paul mentions how can they believe if they donโ€™t hear the word(Romans 10:14). The Word is also necessary for our growth in holiness: โ€œSanctify them in the truth; your word is truthโ€ (John 17:17). Just as bread sustains the body, so the Word sustains the soul: โ€œMan shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of Godโ€ (Matt. 4:4,Duet.8:3)

Bible reading is not merely a suggestion or a helpful habit; it is a command given by God to His people. Jesus Himself said, โ€œIf you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you freeโ€ (John 8:31โ€“32). Likewise, Joshua was instructed, โ€œThis Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in itโ€ (Josh. 1:8). Paul exhorts believers to โ€œrightly handle the word of truthโ€ (2 Tim. 2:15). These passages remind us that reading, meditating, and obeying Scripture is not optionalโ€”it is the very means by which God shapes His people. To neglect His Word is to disobey His revealed will, but to delight in it is both obedience and joy?

Of all the many promises that God gives to those that seek him in His word, Iโ€™d give a couple few in the psalms of what the word of God does. It could be the answer to your troubles now, to the struggles that entangle you.

Scripture declares that it revives the soul, makes wise the simple, rejoices the heart, and enlightens the eyes (Ps. 19:7โ€“9). It keeps oneโ€™s way pure (Ps. 119:9) and grants great peace to those who love Godโ€™s law, so that nothing can make them stumble (Ps. 119:165). Yet these promises are not mechanical rewards for the mere act of reading; they are blessings given by God through His Word as it points us to Christ.

But it is not actually just reading so that you can gain these promises, but that you may see Christ. We read because of the great and wonderful work of Jesus Christ that sinners may be saved. And this is eternal life, that they know youโ€ฆ(John 17:3). We read so that we would know more of God and how we ought to live in light of what he says. We can not please God if we do not know what He wants. And on the other side, it is a great insult to neglect His word.

To end, Iโ€™d like to quote from J.I.Packer

Praise God for this great privilege to share the Gospel with our fellow students at the State University of Northern Negros (SUNN). This one-week activity was indeed a great blessing for usโ€”to be ambassadors of Christ and to share His Word. We dedicate these activities to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord. To Him be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time, now, and forever. Amen.

The final day of the SMO-SUNN booth was marked not by mere conclusion, but by meaningful communion. What began as an outreach initiative ended in a warm and Christ-centered fellowshipโ€”an evening set apart to glorify God through His Word and through the unity of His people.

The gathering was anchored on the reading of Godโ€™s Word, followed by the singing of Godโ€™s Word, allowing Scripture to dwell richly among everyone present. This was then complemented by the preaching of Godโ€™s Word, on John 3:16โ€“21.

Beyond the preaching, the fellowship continued through a discussion of the Word, creating a space for reflection, clarity, and shared insight. A Question and Answer portion followed, where honest questions were raised and thoughtfully engaged, emphasizing that faith seeks understanding and that Godโ€™s truth welcomes sincere inquiry.

As a tangible expression of generosity and encouragement, books, stickers, and bookmarks were distributedโ€”small yet meaningful reminders of the truths shared and the Word that continues to speak even after the event ended.

None of this would have been possible without the faithful service of the SMO team, whose unity, diligence, and love reflected what it truly means to be Godโ€™s laborers. Their collective effort testified that the work accomplished was not merely human organization, but the fruit of God working through willing servants.

Gratitude is also extended to the sponsors, donors and gospel partners who generously provided the books, coffee, materials and delivering of the gospel. Their support played a vital role in making the booth and the fellowship both welcoming and impactful.

As the SMO booth officially came to a close, it did so with hearts fullโ€”thankful for what God has done and hopeful for the seeds that have been planted.

Soli Deo Gloria.

Come and experience Godโ€™s amazing love together!

โ€œFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.โ€
