v.21 Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness;
They lacked nothing;
Their clothes did not wear out
And their feet did not swell.
Even in their rebellion, God did not forsake the Israelites in the desert. He gave them pillar of cloud by day, and pillar of fire at night, gave them manna to eat and water for their thirst, gave them kingdoms and nations, children as the stars of heaven, subdued their enemies and given them their own land, rich land that has everything that they need to live in delight and abundance, God's goodness was great, but still, they were disobedient and rebelled against God. They cast His law behind their backs and killed God's prophets, who testified against them to turn them to God. And they worked great provocations.
So God gave them to their enemies to punish them, and they cried for help.
God delivered them and then again did evil against God. They get in trouble again because of their sins, calls God for help, and again, God delivers.
v.31 Nevertheless in Your great mercy
You did not utterly consume them nor forsake them;
For You are God, gracious and merciful.
Not just two times, nor three times, but for so many times, God was patient and merciful to the Israelites... He is still now, with us. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow! For the many times we have failed Him, His mercy and love is proven over and over again. He lets us suffer the consequences of our actions, but when we call in repentance He is surely there. So, Repent! Let us not be like the Israelites in their own cycle of rebellion. For truly God is good, and truly His love endures forever.
