Highlights during the 87th Annual Patronal Fiesta in honor of St. Vincent Ferrer in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras, 25 April 2026.

Theme: "San Vicente Ferrer: Modelo sang katilingban nga nagahugpong, nagapanglakaton, kag nagapakigbahin sa misyon sang Simbahan."

This year's celebration was marked by a Novenario Masses, celebrated by the faithful coming from the different Barangays in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras. Highlighting it's devotional activities in fiesta celebration was the Fluvial Procession, the Solemn Foot Procession and the Miraculous Sadsad kay San Vicente Ferrer on its 4th year.

The solemn celebration of the Vespers take place in the afternoon of April 24, 2026, with Rev. Fr. Dennis Galon, as main celebrant and homilist, in the presence of Rev. Fr. Randy Doromal, Rev. Fr. Ricky Soriano, and Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Gentizon, both we're priests from Nueva Valencia, Guimaras, together with Rev. Fr. Francisco Nicolasora and Rev. Fr. Hazel Acidella, PACEM.

Highlighting this year's Fiesta Celebration, 25th April 2026, the Solemn Concelebrated Mass was presided over by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Higinio Velarde, PA, main celebrant and homilist. Together with him was Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Gentizon, Rev. Fr. Ricky Soriano, Rev. Fr. Jesus Cabalum, Rev. Fr. Renante Salabe, and Rev. Redan Tabat, Deacon.

The Parish of St. Vincent Ferrer, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras, is under the shepherding leadership of Rev. Fr. Amador G. Encanto.

🌍WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS🙏

On this 63rd Anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, Pope Leo XIV invites the whole Church – and especially young people – to rediscover vocation as a deeply interior experience, rooted in a personal encounter with God.

At the heart of his message is a powerful and evocative image: Jesus as the “beautiful shepherd,” the one who attracts and transforms the lives of those who follow him. “Life is truly beautiful if we follow Him,” the Pope affirms, emphasizing that vocation is not an imposition, but “a plan of love and happiness.”

The Holy Father strongly highlights the urgency of returning to interiority, as the privileged place where every calling is born and matures:
“The care of interior life: this is where vocational ministry must begin again.”

In a world often marked by noise and distraction, Pope Leo XIV encourages the creation of spaces of silence, prayer, and listening, in order to recognize the voice of God calling each person to a unique path of holiness and service:
“God dwells in our hearts: vocation is an intimate dialogue with Him.”

The message also emphasizes that every vocation grows over time, as a journey of maturation marked by trust and accompaniment:
“Vocation is not a static achievement, but a dynamic process of growth.”

Finally, the Pope invites communities, families, and Church realities to become fertile environments, capable of welcoming and accompanying the gift of vocations, so that they may bear fruit for the Church and the world.

June 27 | FEAST OF OUR MOTHER OF PERPETUAL HELP

Today is the traditional feast of the Mother of Perpetual help, which, according to legend, the original image was painted by St. Luke the Evangelist.

The image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help is associated with a 15th-century Byzantine icon of the Madonna and Child. Traced back to 1495, this icon was stolen from a Cretan monastery by a wine merchant a few years after its creation. Eventually, the icon was brought to the Church of Saint Matthew in Rome. For 300 years, it resided at the church, and even survived the church’s destruction by Napoleon’s army in 1798.

88 years later, Pope Pius IX gave the icon to the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, or popularly called today as Redemptorists, at the Church of Saint Alphonsus Liguori, where it remains today. The same Pontiff granted a Pontifical decree of Canonical Coronation along with its present title on May 5, 1866. The Latin Patriarch of Constantinople, Cardinal Ruggero Luigi Emidio Antici Mattei executed the rite of coronation on June 23, 1867.

The Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title, Our Mother of Perpetual Help," has been venerated across many cultures and thus bears several titles in different languages, such as "Mother of Perpetual Succour," "Unsere Liebe Frau von der immerwährenden Hilfe," "Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro," "Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours," "Mater del Perpetuo Succursu, and "Ina ng Laging Saklolo."

In the Philippines, Our Mother of Perpetual Help is widely-venerated. Almost all Catholic churches and chapels in the Philippines have a replica of the icon, often enshrined in a side altar. Copies of the icon can also be found in countless houses, businesses, and even public utility vehicles.

Every Wednesday, many congregations hold services where they publicly recite the rosary and the icon's associated novena, along with a priest delivering Benediction and celebrating a votive Mass in its honor. Devotees today still use the same Novena booklet first published by Irish Redemptorists, who introduced the icon and its devotion to the Philippines in the early 1900s. The Filipino Diaspora continue keeping the Wednesday Novena, holding novena services in their respective parishes overseas.

PRAYER :
O Mother of Perpetual Help, grant that I may ever invoke your most powerful name, which is the safeguard of the living and the salvation of the dying.

O Purest Mary, O Sweetest Mary, let thy name henceforth be ever on my lips.

Delay not, O Blessed Lady, to help me whenever I call on you, for, in all my needs, in all my temptations I shall never cease to call on you, ever repeating thy sacred name, Mary, Mary.
O what consolation, what sweetness, what confidence, what emotion fill my soul when I pronounce your sacred name, or even only think of you.

I thank God for having given you, for my good, so sweet, so powerful, so lovely a name.

But I will not be content with merely pronouncing your name: let my love for you prompt me ever to hail you, Mother of Perpetual Help.

June 27, 2025 | SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – also the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests – is celebrated on the Friday after the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. This suggests to us that the Eucharist (Corpus Christi) is none other than the Heart of Jesus himself, of the One who “takes care of us” with his “heart”.

On 20 October 1672, Father Giovanni Eudes, a priest from Normandy, celebrated this feast for the first time. But there had already been several German mystics that had begun cultivating devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Middle Ages: Mechtild of Magdeburg (1212-1283), Mechtilde of Hackeborn (1240/1-1298) and Gertrude of Helfta (1256-1302) – and the Dominican, Blessed Henry Suso (1295 – 1366).

But to popularize the devotion, the revelations of our Lord to the Visitation nun of the convent of Paray-le-Monial, Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690), contributed greatly. Margaret Mary had entered the French convent in Saône-et-Loire in 1671. She already had the reputation of being a mystic when on 27 December 1673 she received the first vision of Jesus who invited her to take John’s place, the only apostle who physically rested his head on Jesus’s chest, among those present at the Last Supper. “My Divine Heart is so passionately in love with humanity that it can no longer contain within itself the flames of its ardent love. It must pour them out. I have chosen you for this great plan,” Jesus told her. The following year, Margaret had two other visions. In the first, Jesus’s heart was on a throne enveloped in flames brighter than the sun and more transparent than crystal, surrounded by a crown of thorns. In the other, she saw Christ shining in glory. Flames of fire were coming out of every part of his chest to the point that it looked like a furnace. Jesus spoke to her and asked her to receive Communion every first Friday for nine consecutive months and to prostrate herself on the ground for an hour the night between Thursday and Friday. This is how the practice of the nine first Fridays originated and the Holy Hour of Adoration. Then in a fourth vision, Christ asked for the institution of a feast to honour his Heart and to make reparation through prayer for offenses received.

Pope Pius IX made it an obligatory feast throughout the universal Church in 1856. In 1995, Saint John Paul II instituted the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests on this same day so that the priesthood might be protected in the hands of Jesus, rather in his heart, so it could be open to everyone.
