At that time, Jesus said to the Jews: No one can come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me draw him, and I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the Prophets, "And they all shall be taught of God." Everyone who has listened to the Father, and has learned, comes to Me; not that anyone has seen the Father except Him Who is from God, He has seen the Father. Amen, amen, I say to you, he who believes in Me has life everlasting. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the desert, and have died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that if anyone eat of it he will not die. I am the living bread that has come down from heaven. If anyone eat of this bread he shall live forever; and the bread that I will give is My flesh for the life of the world.

COMMUNIQUร‰ FROM THE GENERAL HOUSE

During this Octave of Pentecost, Father Davide Pagliarani, Superior General of the Society of Saint Pius X, has the joy of announcing the names of the priests of the Society who have been chosen to receive episcopal consecration on July 1st at ร‰cรดne.

In a spirit of respect toward the supreme authority of the universal Church, the dossiers of these priests were presented to the Holy Father, together with certain explanations necessary for a proper understanding of this step, within the very particular and exceptional context of these episcopal consecrations.

The four priests are:

Father Pascal Schreiber, of Swiss nationality;
Father Michael Goldade, of American nationality;
Father Michel Poinsinet de Sivry, of French nationality;
Father Marc Hanappier, of French nationality.

The Superior General reaffirms that the choice and consecration of these elects do not proceed from any desire to claim a power of jurisdiction or to establish a parallel authority within the Church. In no way do they constitute a denial of, refusal of, or challenge to the supreme, full, and immediate power of jurisdiction of the Vicar of Christ over the universal Church.

The ceremony of July 1st will have no other purpose than to ensure the continued administration of the sacraments of Holy Orders and Confirmation, together with those sacramentals reserved to bishops, according to the traditional rite of the Holy Roman Church and the immemorial Faith.

The episcopacy to be received by these priests is therefore conceived solely as a service rendered to souls and to the Church amid this unprecedented crisis of the Faith.

Our determination to serve the holy Catholic Church remains unwavering, in the consciousness of the imperative duty faithfully and integrally to hand on what we ourselves have received โ€” namely, what the Church has always believed, taught, and practised.

Dear faithful and friends,

As we prepare for the episcopal consecrations, scheduled for 1 July in ร‰cรดne, we wish, exceptionally, to make available to you an editorial that the Superior General addressed to the members of the Society on 7 March.

This text does not revisit the question of the consecrations themselves, but is devoted to recalling the spirit in which they must be prepared for and lived: a spirit of faith, charity, supernatural trust, and love of the Church. For it is not enough to enlighten one's understanding if one does not dispose one's heart at the same time.

Therefore, a few weeks before this ceremony, which is so important for the whole Church, we felt it was right to share these reflections with the faithful and friends of the Society, so that all may unite more deeply in this preparation, through prayer, sacrifice, and inner peace.

Notably, it includes a call to maintain, in the present circumstances, a profoundly supernatural perspective, a spirit of gentleness and strength, and a charity animated by a genuine concern for the good of souls and the Church.

Wishing you a good reading, we thank you for keeping these intentions in your prayers, under the watchful gaze of Our Lady Mediatrix of All Graces.

Father Foucauld le Roux
Secretary General

1 Jn. 4:16

Dear confreres and members of the Society,

It is with great pleasure that, following the public announcement of the consecrations and a series of explanations, I can finally address you in a more personal manner. I would like to share with you some advice to help us in our moral and spiritual preparation as members of the Society. It is this preparation that will enable us, in turn, to accompany the faithful during this time.

There is no shortage of apologetical arguments. It is a matter of preserving the Faith, and all the means necessary to transmit it. It is a question of bringing the Faith to life in people's souls. While the state of necessity could already be invoked in 1988, this state of necessity is, unfortunately, even more evident in 2026. This explains why the Society's decision is met with an understanding that extends far beyond its borders.

There is a positive aspect to this situation. The announcement on 2 February left no one in the Catholic Church indifferent. Almost everyone feels concern and the need to express their approval or disapproval. This is providential, because sometimes words, opinions, and simple statements are no longer enough. They must be accompanied by meaningful actions that Divine Providence can use to shake consciences โ€” and even the Church herself. I firmly believe that Divine Providence is at work in the current debate.

As for us, we must be able to take a step back from this debate, while remaining fully involved in it. The decision to proceed with the episcopal consecrations must first be guided by supernatural prudence. This prudence concerns not only those who make this decision, but also those who welcome and follow it. In other words, the stakes are so high that each member of the Society must be able, each at his own level, to understand and take personal responsibility for this decision before God.

However, the gravity of this decision is such that it cannot be guided by supernatural prudence alone. In order for this decision to be properly understood and explained, that is, by its highest causes, ๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ฃ ๐˜ด๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ด โ€” โ€˜in the light of eternityโ€™ โ€” it is essential to ask the Holy Ghost to grant us His wisdom. However, we must not forget that true wisdom โ€” the wisdom that must guide us in this exceptional choice โ€” is the daughter of charity. Only the virtue of charity can give us a certain connaturality with Our Blessed Lord and, consequently, enable us to perceive reality in a manner somewhat similar to God. Only on this condition can we have a proper appreciation of it.

We have already said and repeated that the reason behind the decision to proceed with episcopal consecrations is the salvation of souls. This should not be seen as mere rhetoric or a simple canonical justification. This reason of charity towards souls and the Catholic Church is what must ultimately prepare our souls, and those of the faithful, for the ceremony on 1 July.

Sometimes, when we speak of charity, some people feel that we are giving in to a form of weakness, or at least mixing a certain sentimentality with the authentic profession of the Catholic Faith. Such a sensitivity is incompatible with the spirit of Archbishop Lefebvre, with the spirit of the Society, and even more so with the spirit of Redemption. The strength of Our Blessed Lord in His Passion and on the Cross is nothing less than the measure of His charity.

It is with this same charity that, now more than ever, we must love souls and Holy Mother Church, even if its official representatives were to declare us excommunicated and schismatic once again: โ€œThese things have I spoken to you that you may not be scandalized. They will put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doth a service to God. And these things will they do to you; because they have not known the Father, nor me. But these things I have told you, so that when the hour shall come, you may remember that I told you of them.โ€ (John 16:1-4)

The ultimate proof that we are in the truth will be our ability to maintain this spirit of charity, no matter what happens, and towards everyone without distinction.

First and foremost, we must never succumb to bitterness. While we certainly have a duty to do everything possible to justify and explain the underlying reasons for the consecrations, this must be done with firmness, and never with bitterness, nor even with the slightest hint of bitter zeal. Obviously, we can become bitter because of excessive zeal, but also because we would have preferred a particular date, a particular candidate, or for things to have been done differently. Whatever the material cause of the bitterness, the remedy is always the same: ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ด ๐˜ฑ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ต โ€” โ€œcharity is patientโ€.

Towards those to whom we speak, whoever they may be, and whether they understand us or not, we must always show kindness. When there is no understanding on the other side, when there is not even a willingness to listen to what we have to say and understand our reasons, it is very easy โ€” humanly speaking โ€” to fall into resentment.

We must always remember that if Divine Providence has been merciful enough to give us a little light, to allow us to maintain the Churchโ€™s Traditions and to do what is necessary to defend them, it corresponds to an exceptional grace that we do not actually deserve. The awareness of this fact must entirely condition our attitude. If the consecrations represent a grace for the entire Society โ€” a grace for which we must thank Divine Providence โ€” this profoundly supernatural joy must not be confused with misplaced triumphalism, as if it were a human victory that we could attribute to ourselves, which would inevitably diminish its intrinsic value. ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ด ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ข๐˜จ๐˜ช๐˜ต ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฎ, ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ง๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ณ โ€” โ€œcharity dealeth not perversely, is not puffed upโ€.

Following the example of His Grace, Archbishop Lefebvre, in everything we do, we must not seek our own interests nor the survival of a personal endeavour, but rather the good of souls and the good of the Catholic Church. The Society is nothing more than a means of remaining faithful to the Church. If we are taking exceptional measures today to preserve the faith, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and the priesthood, it is because we want the whole Catholic Church โ€” and every soul without distinction โ€” to be able to benefit freely from them one day. All this belongs to the Church, and we are only its guardians. We ask nothing for ourselves. Our only reward will be to see one day Holy Mother Church reclaim her Traditions. ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ด ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฒ๐˜ถ๐˜ข๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต ๐˜ฒ๐˜ถ๐˜ข๐˜ฆ ๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ข ๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต โ€” โ€œcharity seeketh not her ownโ€.

If we must deploy all our efforts to defend the consecrations โ€” and the Society already has a whole โ€˜arsenalโ€™ at its disposal for this purpose โ€” and if a holy anger is more necessary than ever in the face of the terrible deviations that are shaking the Church, we must nevertheless show neither contempt nor irritation in our explanations to those whom we are speaking to, and especially towards the hierarchy of the Catholic Church! We must know how to remain both firm and gentle at the same time. However, this is only possible with the help of Our Blessed Lord. ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ด ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ช๐˜ณ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ณ โ€” โ€œcharity is not provoked to angerโ€.

If we come to be declared excommunicated and schismatic, this would not mean that we seek such a sanction or rejoice in it, for it would be objectively unjust. It is one thing to rejoice in receiving a new humiliation to offer to God, and it is quite another to rejoice (in a spirit of defiance) in an evil and an objective injustice that causes scandal to the whole Church.

If, on the contrary, there is a whole section of the Catholic Church that welcomes and supports the Society's decision, and if the consecrations become a providential opportunity for renewed courage and enthusiasm โ€” both within and outside the Society โ€” we can only rejoice as God Himself can rejoice. ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ด ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜จ๐˜ข๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต ๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช โ€” โ€œcharity rejoiceth in the truthโ€.

No one could summarize the programme for the four months separating us from the consecrations, and the strength that must characterize our charity, better than Saint Paul: Caritas omnia suffert, omnia credit, omnia sperat, omnia sustinet โ€” โ€œcharity beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all thingsโ€.

This is true โ€” today and in the future: ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ด ๐˜ฏ๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฒ๐˜ถ๐˜ข๐˜ฎ ๐˜ฆ๐˜น๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ต โ€” โ€œcharity never falleth awayโ€.

Now more than ever, the Immaculate Heart of Mary must be the refuge of the Society and the model for each one of us. No one had a better sense of souls and a sense of the Church than she. It was out of love for souls and love for the Church that she accepted to offer her own Son on Calvary. Her will was one with that of the Eternal and Sovereign High Priest, at the very moment when He offered Himself to the Father as a victim of expiation. It is this immeasurable charity and sorrow that made Our Lady the Co-redemptrix of the human race and gave her a unique glory in time and eternity.

And yet, despite all that this Immaculate Heart, pierced by a sword of sorrow, may have suffered, never did the slightest bitterness or resentment darken the radiance of her charity, even for an instant, and even towards those who had put her divine Son to death. Just as she did not hesitate, even for a moment, to carry out her sacrifice to the end, so her charity towards sinners never wavered. This is an unfathomable mystery of strength, gentleness and love!

It is with these sentiments and this charity that we must prepare for the ceremony on 1 July, and strive to prepare all the faithful under our care.

May God bless you!

Saint Rita was born in Italy in the late 14th century, near the little city of Cascia, of parents who though advancing in age had no children; she was the fruit of their pious prayers. At the age of twelve she resolved to consecrate herself to God by the vow of chastity, but her parents required her to marry. She obeyed; and God, who perhaps wished her to serve as an example for those having to bear with violent spouses, permitted that she be joined to a man of ferocious character, who terrified the region where he lived.

During eighteen years she succeeded so well in pacifying him that he eventually even became submissive to the laws of God. Nonetheless, his enemies killed him; and then the pious widow had to overcome her twin sons' desire for vengeance. Again she succeeded. When the two young men died not long afterwards, she was without any further bonds to keep her in the world, and she made application to a convent of Augustinian nuns at Cascia. Never had a widow been admitted there, but Saint John the Baptist, with Saint Augustine and Saint Nicholas, who had died during the 13th century in the nearby town of Tolentino, appeared to her to answer her fervent prayers. They transported her miraculously into the convent by night, despite all the locked doors. The Sisters, finding her there in the morning, could not refuse her request any longer.

Saint Rita practiced severe mortifications, eating but once a day and taking only bread and water for food. She was a model of perfect obedience; she meditated every night, from midnight until dawn, on the Passion of Our Lord, and begged to share His sufferings. On one of these nights she felt in her forehead the pain of sharp thorns, which made there an incurable wound. The festering wound isolated her from the other Sisters, and she lived thereafter almost as a hermit in the convent. The wound was cured once for a short time, when the entire group of Sisters were to go to Rome on the occasion of a universal jubilee; on their return her wound opened again.

It was discovered that Saint Rita had the gift of miracles when a young girl was cured during her mother's visit to the convent, to beg the Saint's prayers for that intention. Soon many visitors were coming even from distant regions to ask her charity. She expired peacefully in May of 1456. The wound of her forehead, until then very ugly, became brilliant at the moment of her death. The shrine of Saint Rita is still a favorite pilgrimage site in Italy.

St. Bernardine Albizeschi was born into a noble family in Siena. Even in his early school years, he preferred religious exercisesโ€”especially those honoring the Blessed Virgin Maryโ€”over childhood games. Known for his exceptional charity toward the poor, he dedicated himself to serving them at the Santa Maria della Scala hospital in Siena. When he decided to enter religious life, divine Providence led him to choose the Franciscan Order, where he excelled in humility, patience, and other virtues. His superiors assigned him the task of preaching; although he knew his voice was too weak and hoarse for the job, he accepted the responsibility and prayed for Godโ€™s help. As a result, his vocal handicap was miraculously cured. He traveled through towns and villages in the Name of Jesus, which he always held in his heart and on his lips. Everywhere he went, he ended local conflicts and used his words and example to restore piety and morality, which had declined. He also wrote insightful religious books. At the age of sixty-six, famous for his miracles and accomplishments, he died peacefully in the town of Lโ€™Aquila in the Abruzzi region.

The Auxiliary Bishop of Astana, Bishop Athanasius Schneider, a guest on Raymond Arroyo's program, gave an interview on May 15 to EWTN, the world's largest Catholic television network, which broadcasts in more than 160 countries and reaches more than 435 million homes.

Throughout this interview, Bishop Schneider made a very clear defense of the Society of Saint Pius X against the threats of excommunication brandished again by Rome on May 13 regarding the future episcopal consecrations of July 1.

The bishop also delivered a firm critique of the report of Study Group No. 9 of the Synod on Synodality, which he openly accuses of promoting homosexual ideology at the very heart of the official structures of the Vatican.

On several occasions, Bishop Schneider contrasted the severity displayed against Tradition with the great tolerance shown today towards progressive currents and doctrinal deviations.

The interview begins with a question about the final report of Study Group No. 9 of the Synod, recently published in the Vatican. Bishop Schneider replies: "When you read the entire text, it becomes clear that it was not written by a Catholic, nor even by a Christian. It is a propaganda text, which very carefully and cunningly uses certain traditional documents or biblical expressions, but which fundamentally aims to promote the acceptance of homosexual ideology."

Bishop Schneider asserts that this ideology constitutes "a denial of the order of creation, and even a revolt against the beautiful, divinely established order of the two sexes. There are not three sexes. This is God's commandment and God's wisdom."

The Holy See document "provides a platform and even invites people living in same-sex unions to spread their propaganda."

The interview continued, focusing on the doctrinal content of the report. Bishop Schneider explained that he had read the entire text carefully. His first observation was the complete absence of any mention of Christian conversion: "There isnโ€™t a word about repentance. How could this be a Catholic and Christian text, when the first words of the incarnate God addressed to all humanity are: โ€˜Repentโ€™? That is the message of salvation and hope."

He continues: "There is no word on repentance. There is no word on chastity. It is absent. In the text, there isnโ€™t even a word on conversion. The only meaning given to conversion concerns human relationships: a 'relational conversion.' But conversion to God is absent, even though it is the fundamental path of the Gospel of salvation."

Bishop Schneider therefore considers this text to be: "a highly ideological document, which promotes a new religion of man, clearly anthropocentric. And they even dare to declare in this document that the sources of Revelation include human experience. This is heresy."

The journalist points out that the document was presented as historic by Fr. James Martin and some progressive circles.

Bishop Schneider acknowledges that the text is not technically a magisterial document. But he immediately adds that "nevertheless, it was published by a body of the Holy See, the Secretariat of the Synod." He continues, "The majority of ordinary Catholics are unaware of the distinctions between a magisterial text, a Vatican text, and a study group document."

Therefore: "This message given to the whole world and to Catholics is that, from now on, the Holy See, the Vatican, fundamentally accepts, in fact, same-sex relationships, homosexual activity and the so-called LGBTQ agenda, which is a non-Christian global ideology."

One of the most striking passages of the interview concerns a sentence in the report claiming that the sin in homosexual relationships lies not in the relationship itself but in a lack of faith. Bishop Schneider completely rejects this: "Thatโ€™s false. Itโ€™s heresy, because a homosexual relationship is contrary to Godโ€™s commandments. It is a sin in itself."

He continued: "To claim that sin does not consist in same-sex relationships is contrary to the truth revealed by God, contrary to experience, contrary to common sense. And then to say that sin consists in a lack of faith is reminiscent of Martin Luther, who said: sola fide; have only faith and trust, and do not concern yourself with your sins or your actions. This is not Catholic at all."

The journalist then mentions the attempt by the Synod Secretariat to distance itself from the report by explaining that the study groups work independently.

Bishop Schneider completely dismisses this explanation: "Itโ€™s not convincing at all. This report is officially under a Vatican dicastery or body called the Synod Secretariat. It has even been officially published. Of course, they say itโ€™s a study group, but thatโ€™s just a ruse to close our eyes, while simultaneously transmitting and providing a propaganda platform for this homosexual ideology, in order to further infect the Catholic Church through the acceptance of this lifestyle."

The interview then turns to the upcoming episcopal consecrations of the Society of Saint Pius X. The journalist recalls that Cardinal Vรญctor Manuel Fernรกndez has officially declared that the consecrations planned for July 1st would constitute a schismatic act leading to excommunication.

Bishop Schneider immediately replied: "I believe they will carry out the consecration project. But I do not agree with the assertion that it would be schismatic."

The bishop then referred to the recent doctrinal declaration published by Fr. Davide Pagliarani, Superior General of the Society of Saint Pius X: "When you read it, it is entirely Catholic. It is written with such devotion to the Holy Father. They say: 'We only want to be, Holy Father, your good sons of the Roman Catholic Church.'"

He continues: "They acknowledge the Popeโ€™s full authority, his jurisdiction, his teaching, and ask him: 'Please, strengthen us in this Catholic Faith which we profess.' And what they profess is the constant doctrine of the Church. All the points they list in this declaration are nothing other than what the Church has always professed, always."

Bishop Schneider then develops a historical and canonical argument: "In the traditional view, in the long-standing view of the Church, disobedience to the Pope, even in the case of an illicit episcopal consecration, has never been considered by Church tradition as schismatic in itself. In ancient canon law, an illicit episcopal consecration against the will of the Pope was punished only by suspension, and not by excommunication. It was therefore not considered in itself to be schismatic."

The bishop emphasized the Society's stated intention: "The Society has written to Pope Leo on several occasions and explained publicly, as well as in February in Rome to Cardinal Fernรกndez, that it does not wish to establish a parallel hierarchy. It will not grant these bishops any jurisdiction, but only the possibility of administering the sacraments of Holy Orders and Confirmation, nothing more. The intention is therefore clear: there is no schismatic intent. They even wish to collaborate with the Pope and ask him to allow these ordinations. They simply want the guarantee of transmitting the eternal faith without any ambiguity or compromise."

The journalist then mentions the possibility for the Society of Saint Pius X to follow the model of the Society of St. Peter .

Bishop Schneider replied: "The problem is deeper. There are ambiguities in certain texts of the Council. There are ambiguities in the post-conciliar Magisterium. The Fraternity of Saint Peter, for its part, does not have the possibilityโ€”the Holy See forbids itโ€”of expressing criticism, even constructive criticism. It must accept all these teachings of the Council and the post-conciliar Magisterium. That is a problem."

Bishop Schneider, on the contrary, believes that the Society of Saint Pius X renders a genuine service to the Church: "There are ambiguities. We must address them. We must be honest. And that is why we must be grateful to the Society of Saint Pius X for addressing them publicly. We must have, within the Church, the freedom to discuss."

Bishop Schneider compares Rome's current attitude towards the Society of Saint Pius X with the great tolerance shown towards other situations: "At the same time, while Pope Leo and the Vatican promote the inclusiveness of the synodal path, of synodal methods, while they are generous with the German Synodal Way, generous with the Chinese Communist Party by allowing it to ordain bishops there, the contrast is immense. And these faithful of the Society of Saint Pius X, who love the Pope, who pray for the Pope, who simply want the guarantee of transmitting the faith of all time without any ambiguityโ€”I insist: without any ambiguityโ€”are being denied this, and now they are being punished."

Bishop Schneider then quotes Saint Basil during the A***n crisis: "The only crime that is punished in our time is fidelity to the faith and traditions of our fathers, while all blasphemy has free rein in the Church."

Bishop Schneider concluded by warning that a possible excommunication of the Society of Saint Pius X would be a stain on the history of the Church: "I think that if the Pope does this, if he does not grant them this permission and excommunicates them, it will remain in history as a huge error of rigidity, of pastoral rigidity, and of unilateral severity towards Tradition in the Church."

Finally, the bishop addressed a solemn appeal to Pope Leo XIV: "Holy Father , please, avoid such a wound in the Church. You can avoid it."
