Psalm Readings
Matins: Psalm 8, Psalm 15, Psalm 21, Psalm 47

Vespers: Psalm 24, Psalm 68, Psalm 148

Collect
Grant, we beseech Thee, Almighty God, that like as we do believe Thine Only-Begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to have ascended into the heavens, so may we also in heart and mind thither ascend, and with Him continually dwell; Who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end. Amen.

Old Testament Reading (TLH): Is. 57:15
For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

First Reading: Acts 1:1-11
1 The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Gradual
P: || Alleluia! Alleluia! God has gone up with a | shout, | - * The Lord with the sound | of | a | trum- | pet.

P: || Alleluia! You have ascended on | high, | - You have led captivity captive. | Al- | le- | lu- | ia! (Psalm 47:5; 68:18a)

Second Reading: Mark 16:14-20
Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!

The congregation of Magnificat Lutheran Church rejoices this Easter Sunday, celebrating the victory of our Lord over death and the growth of His Church through the Word and Sacraments.

Today, we were privileged to witness the Holy Spirit at work in our youth through Holy Baptism and the Rite of Confirmation.

The Sacrament of Holy Baptism
We welcome Juaquin into the family of God. Through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, he has been claimed as a child of the Heavenly Father and united with Christ in His death and resurrection.

"We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." — Romans 6:4

The Rite of Confirmation

We also celebrate with Samuelle and Keyana, who today made a public confession of the faith into which they were baptized. Having been instructed in the Holy Scriptures and the Small Catechism, they have stood before the altar to receive the Lord’s blessing and the invitation to the Lord's Table.

"Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life." — Revelation 2:10

The Church of the Augustana in Southeast Asia joins Magnificat Lutheran Church in praying for Juaquin, Samuelle, and Keyana. May the Lord who began this good work in them bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Today we celebrate the Epiphany of our Lord, marking the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles as represented by the Magi.

Just as the star led the wise men to the Savior, may the light of Christ guide our hearts and homes throughout the coming year.

We celebrate that the Light of the World has come for all nations!

"When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him." — Matthew 2:10-11

"And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb."

— Luke 2:21

On this first day of the new year, the eighth day after Christmas, we commemorate the Circumcision of our Lord. Today, the Creator submits to the Law He established.

We witness the first shedding of His precious blood—a foreshadowing of the Cross—proving His true humanity and His total commitment to our salvation.

As He fulfills the Old Covenant on this day, He opens the door to the New. We also celebrate the bestowal of His Holy Name: Jesus, the name at which every knee shall bow.

May we begin this year in humble obedience to His will, just as He began His earthly life in obedience for us.

"The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." — John 1:14 📖

Today, our hearts were full as we spent time with the wonderful children of St. Mary’s in Navotas. In the midst of the Christmas rush, visiting these little ones reminded us of the greatest gift of all: God’s grace come to earth in the form of a child.

It was a privilege to share gifts, laughter, and the story of Jesus’ birth with our neighbors. Seeing the joy on their faces is a beautiful reminder that Christ’s light shines brightly in every corner of our community. 🌟

We give heartfelt thanks to God for our brother Jake, who visited all the way from Gustavus Adolphus Mission, Perth. Jake has been diligently studying as a catechumen with us for the past 2 years, and it was a joy to finally give him the sacrament.

Welcome to the table, Jake!

The Church of the Augustana in Southeast Asia rejoices with David Laman on his Confirmation last Sunday, November 2, 2025.

It was especially meaningful to celebrate his public affirmation of faith on Reformation Sunday, a day we remember the core truth of our faith: Sola Fide (Faith Alone), Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone), Sola Gratia (Grace alone)

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

Joshua 1:9

Please join us in praying for David as he continues his journey of discipleship, rooted in the Word and strengthened by the Holy Spirit!

Collect
O Almighty God, Who hast knit together Thine elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical Body of Thy Son, Christ our Lord: Grant us grace so to follow Thy blessed Saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those unspeakable joys which Thou hast prepared for those who unfeignedly love Thee; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end. Amen.

First Reading: Revelation 7:2-17
Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed: of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand were sealed. After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.” Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Gradual
|| O fear the Lord, ye | His | saints:

for there is no want to | them | that | fear | Him.

|| They that seek the | Lord | -:

shall not want | an- | y | good | thing.

|| Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy |

la- | den:

and I will give you rest. | Hal- | le- | lu- | jah.

Second Reading: Matthew 5:1-12
5 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
