The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 2111) considers PADUGO (a ritualistic blood sacrifice for appeasing spirits) as superstitious, which violates the First Commandment. It is viewed as placing faith in non-divine powers rather than God, potentially encouraging animistic beliefs rather than Christian devotion.

Key Aspects of the Catholic View on PADUGO

🔹Superstition (CCC 2111):
The Church condemns attributing power to actions or objects (like animal blood) to secure blessings, as it implies distrust in God's providence.

🔹Animism/Pagan Roots:
Padugo is regarded as rooted in pre-Christian practices aimed at appeasing spirits, which is contrary to the Catholic faith.

🔹Spiritual Danger:
Catholic perspectives often warn that such rites are not merely cultural but can constitute a "false worship," potentially opening doors to demonic influence.

🔹Proper Worship:
Catholics are encouraged to turn to prayer, the sacraments, and trust in God rather than reliance on superstitious rituals for protection or good fortune.

The practice is seen as incompatible with the Catholic faith, as it contradicts the commandment to worship God alone and trust only in Him.

1. Receiving the Holy Eucharist in a state of mortal sin

This is dangerous because the person is not in friendship with God (due to serious sin), yet still receives Jesus in Communion.

The problem is:

• The soul is spiritually separated from God
• But the person receives Christ without repentance

St. Paul warns about this in 1 Corinthians 11:27, saying that receiving unworthily is not just ineffective—it is spiritually harmful.

Why it is dangerous:
• It shows lack of reverence for the Eucharist
• It hardens the heart to sin
• It can bring spiritual harm instead of grace
• It delays true repentance (because the person thinks everything is “fine”)

2. Not receiving the Holy Eucharist for a long time (while able but unrepentant or away)

This refers to someone who stays away from Communion for a long time without returning to Confession and reconciliation.

The danger here is:

• The soul remains deprived of grace
• Sinful habits can grow stronger
• The desire to return to God can weaken over time

Why it is dangerous:
• Spiritual weakness increases
• The conscience can become dull
• The person may lose urgency to repent
• The distance from God becomes “normal” over time

3. The key balance

The Church’s teaching is not to choose between extremes, but to stay in a right relationship with God:

• If in mortal sin → go to Confession first
• If in grace → receive the Eucharist worthily and regularly

The Eucharist is meant to:

• heal the soul
• strengthen against sin
• deepen union with Christ

Both extremes are dangerous because:

• Unworthy reception disrespects the Eucharist
• Prolonged absence weakens the soul

The safe path is always:
repent → return to grace → receive Jesus worthily

First, it helps to clarify: demonic obsession is different from full possession. Obsession usually means persistent, intrusive attacks on the mind, disturbing thoughts, fears, voices, or strong compulsions, while the person still has control of their will.

Why do some people experience this?

There isn’t just one cause. It’s usually a mix of spiritual vulnerability + personal history + circumstances.

1. Spiritual “open doors”

Some people unknowingly allow entry points through things like:

- Occult practices (tarot, spirit of the glass, witchcraft)
- Consulting psychics or healers not rooted in Christ
- Curses or involvement in harmful rituals
- Habitual serious sin that weakens spiritual defenses

These don’t automatically cause obsession, but they can invite oppression.

2. Deep wounds and trauma

Emotional wounds—like rejection, abuse, abandonment—can make a person more vulnerable.
The enemy often attacks where there is pain, amplifying lies like:

- “You are worthless”
- “You will never change”
- “God has abandoned you”

So sometimes what looks purely “demonic” is actually a spiritual attack targeting a wounded heart.

3. Persistent sin or bo***ge

When someone is stuck in repeated sin (addictions, anger, unforgiveness), it can create a kind of spiritual foothold.
Not because God abandons them—but because the person becomes more open to deception and darkness.

4. Lack of spiritual protection

A weak or inconsistent prayer life, absence of the sacraments, or being spiritually isolated can leave a person more exposed.

In contrast, regular participation in:

• Confession
• Eucharist
• Prayer and Scripture

…builds real spiritual resistance.

5. God allows it (in rare cases)

This is harder to accept, but in some cases, God permits spiritual attacks for a deeper purpose—like purification or strengthening faith.

Think of Book of Job—Job suffered intensely, but it was not because he was sinful.

The hopeful part

No matter the cause, the key truth is:

Jesus has authority over all evil.

As said in Luke 10:19:

“I have given you authority… over all the power of the enemy.”

Freedom is always possible through:

• Repentance and renunciation
• Forgiveness
• Prayer (especially in the name of Jesus of Nazareth)
• Sacraments
• Community support
