Prayer for the Feast of the Stigmatization of Saint Francis of Assisi

Most High and glorious God, on the mountain of La Verna You marked Saint Francis with the sacred wounds of Your Son. In his body he bore the sign of Christ’s Passion,and in his heart he carried the fire of perfect love.

As we honor this mystery, we ask for the grace to be conformed to Christ, to embrace the Cross with patience, to love without measure, and to live in humility and peace.

May the example of Saint Francis inspire us to see suffering with eyes of compassion, to bring hope where there is despair, and to proclaim the Gospel with our lives.

Through his intercession, make us true witnesses of Your mercy,so that, like him, we may bear in our hearts the image of Jesus crucified and risen.

Amen.
