FEAST OF SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA
Today, the Church joyfully celebrates the Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua, the beloved Franciscan saint known as the powerful preacher of God's Word, the patron of the poor, and the faithful intercessor for those seeking what has been lost.
Many know him as the saint we turn to when we lose our keys, wallets, or treasured possessions. But beyond finding lost things, Saint Anthony helps us rediscover something even more important: our way back to God when we have lost hope, peace, faith, purpose, or the joy of the Gospel.
Reflection:
How often do we search tirelessly for the things of this world while neglecting the treasures of the soul? Saint Anthony reminds us that the greatest loss is not material, it is losing sight of Christ amid the distractions, worries, and busyness of life.
A brilliant preacher and humble servant, he taught that true wisdom is found not merely in knowledge, but in living the Gospel with sincerity and love. His life invites us to be compassionate toward the poor, attentive to God's Word, and courageous in witnessing our faith.
Perhaps today, the Lord is asking us: What have you lost? Have you lost your peace? Your trust in prayer? Your zeal for serving? Your desire to forgive? Through the intercession of Saint Anthony, may we find again what truly matters and allow God to restore what is broken within us.
Prayer to Saint Anthony of Padua
Glorious Saint Anthony, faithful servant of God and compassionate friend of those in need, I come before you seeking your prayers and intercession.
You who helped countless people recover what was lost, assist me in finding not only what I seek materially, but also the grace to rediscover faith when I doubt, hope when I despair, and love when my heart grows weary.
Teach me to treasure God's Word, to care for the poor and forgotten, and to live with humility and generosity. Lead me always closer to Jesus, that I may seek first the Kingdom of God above all else.
Saint Anthony of Padua, pray for us. Amen.
