📖 PROSPERITY GOSPEL

Did Jesus and His apostles promise that following Christ would lead to earthly wealth and material success? Or did they teach something greater?

Jesus said:

«"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth... but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven." (Matthew 6:19–21)»

The apostles preached contentment, sacrifice, faithful service, and the hope of eternal life—not the pursuit of earthly riches (1 Timothy 6:6–10; 2 Corinthians 11:23–28).

This post is not intended to attack any person or denomination. Our purpose is to encourage every Christian to compare every teaching with the Word of God, just as the Bereans did.

📖 ENTERTAINMENT OR WORSHIP?

The New Testament teaches that the church's worship is centered on God, not on entertaining people.

Jesus declared:

«"The true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23–24)»

The apostles, guided by the Holy Spirit, instructed the early church to let the Word of Christ dwell richly among them, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in their hearts to the Lord (Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:19).

When we read the New Testament, we find the early church devoted themselves to:
• The apostles' doctrine (Acts 2:42)
• Prayer (Acts 2:42)
• The Lord's Supper (Acts 20:7)
• Congregational singing (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16)
• Reverent worship that glorifies God rather than entertaining an audience.

This invites an important question:

Are our worship assemblies patterned after the teaching of Christ and His apostles, or have they been shaped by the expectations of modern culture?

Our purpose is not to criticize individuals but to encourage everyone to return to the pattern revealed in the New Testament.

📖 MODERN APOSTLES

One of the important questions every Christian should ask is this:

Does the New Testament teach that there are apostles today with the same authority as the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus Christ?

The apostles of Christ were not self-appointed. They were personally chosen by the Lord (Luke 6:13), witnessed His resurrection (Acts 1:21–22), and were guided by the Holy Spirit to reveal God's complete message for the church (John 16:13; Acts 2:1–4).

The New Testament describes the apostles as part of the foundation of Christ's church:

«"Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone." (Ephesians 2:20)»

Their inspired teaching was delivered once for all to the saints (Jude 3), and the early church continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine (Acts 2:42). The role of the church today is not to seek new apostles with equal authority, but to remain faithful to the apostolic teaching that has already been revealed through the Holy Spirit and preserved in the Scriptures.

📖 NEW REVELATIONS

Throughout history, many have claimed to receive new revelations, new prophecies, or new doctrines directly from God. But what does the New Testament teach?

The apostles of Jesus Christ were guided by the Holy Spirit into all truth (John 16:13). Through them, God revealed His will for the church, and they faithfully recorded that inspired message in the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21).

The Bible declares:

«"Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." — Jude 3»

Notice that Jude speaks of "the faith" as having been once for all delivered. The gospel entrusted to the apostles was complete, and Paul warned that even if an angel from heaven preached a different gospel, it was not to be accepted (Galatians 1:8–9).

The New Testament church devoted itself to the apostles' doctrine (Acts 2:42), not to continually seeking new revelations. Every teaching was to be tested against the Word of God (Acts 17:11; 1 John 4:1).

Are we holding fast to the doctrine delivered through Christ's apostles, or are we accepting teachings that go beyond what has been revealed in Scripture?

📖 BUILDING TEMPLES OR BUILDING PEOPLE?

One of the greatest questions the church must ask today is not "How impressive is our building?" but "How faithfully are we making disciples of Jesus Christ?"

The New Testament never records the apostles making magnificent buildings their mission. Instead, they devoted themselves to preaching the gospel, establishing congregations, strengthening believers, and equipping Christians to serve the Lord.

Paul reminded the church:

> "For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building."
— 1 Corinthians 3:9

Peter also wrote:

> "You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house..."
— 1 Peter 2:5

The church that Jesus purchased with His own blood is not a physical structure of stone and concrete—it is a spiritual family made up of redeemed people (Acts 20:28).

The New Testament church, guided by the Holy Spirit through the apostles, focused on:

Teaching the apostles' doctrine (Acts 2:42)

Preaching the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15–16)

Making disciples (Matthew 28:19–20)

Strengthening the saints (Ephesians 4:11–16)

Caring for one another in love (Galatians 6:2)

Glorifying God rather than seeking human recognition (1 Corinthians 10:31)

There is nothing inherently wrong with having a place to assemble. The early Christians met in various locations according to their circumstances (Acts 2:46; Romans 16:5). However, the New Testament consistently places the emphasis on building faithful Christians rather than exalting physical structures.

Our prayer is that every congregation will be known, not because of the size of its building, but because of its faithfulness to Christ, its love for the truth, and its commitment to making disciples.

📖 DIVISION IN CHRISTIANITY

Jesus did not pray for a divided religious world. On the night before His crucifixion, He prayed that all who believe in Him "may all be one" (John 17:20–21). Likewise, the apostle Paul pleaded with the church:

> "Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."
— 1 Corinthians 1:10

Yet today, Christianity is marked by countless denominations, conflicting doctrines, and differing practices. This naturally raises an important question:

Is this the unity Christ prayed for and the apostles taught?

The New Testament church was established upon the teaching of Christ and His apostles, who were guided by the Holy Spirit into all truth (John 16:13). They taught:

One body (Ephesians 4:4)

One Spirit (Ephesians 4:4)

One hope (Ephesians 4:4)

One Lord (Ephesians 4:5)

One faith (Ephesians 4:5)

One baptism (Ephesians 4:5)

One God and Father of all (Ephesians 4:6)

The unity described in Scripture was not based on compromise, but on a common submission to the truth revealed by Christ through His apostles. Paul urged Christians to continue steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine (Acts 2:42) and warned against causing divisions through teachings contrary to what had been received (Romans 16:17).

Are our beliefs and practices producing the unity taught by Christ and His apostles, or have human traditions and differing doctrines divided what God intended to be one?

📖 INFANT BAPTISM

Baptism is one of the most important subjects in the New Testament because it is directly connected with faith, repentance, and obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, every Christian should ask a simple question:

What did the apostles, guided by the Holy Spirit, teach and practice?

When we examine the New Testament, every recorded example of baptism follows the same pattern:

The gospel was preached.

People heard the message.

They believed in Jesus Christ.

They repented of their sins.

They confessed their faith.

They were then baptized into Christ.

On the Day of Pentecost, Peter commanded:

> "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins..."
— Acts 2:38

Repentance is a personal response to the gospel. Likewise, Jesus declared:

> "He who believes and is baptized will be saved."
— Mark 16:16

Belief always precedes baptism.

The Ethiopian eu**ch first heard the gospel, believed it, confessed his faith, and then was baptized (Acts 8:35–39). Throughout the book of Acts, baptism consistently followed a person's own faith and response to God's Word.

The New Testament does not record an example of an infant being baptized, nor do the apostles instruct the church to baptize infants. Rather, baptism is presented as the response of those who are able to hear, believe, repent, and obey the gospel.

This post is not intended to criticize individuals or families. Many sincere Christians practice infant baptism because of long-held religious traditions. Our purpose is simply to encourage everyone to compare every practice with the teaching of Christ and His apostles.

📖 CHURCH LEADERSHIP

The church belongs to Jesus Christ. He purchased it with His own blood (Acts 20:28), and He alone is the Head of the church (Ephesians 1:22–23). Therefore, the leadership of the church must follow the pattern revealed by Christ through His apostles, who were guided into all truth by the Holy Spirit (John 16:13).

One of the questions we should ask is:

Does the leadership structure of our congregation reflect the New Testament pattern?

The New Testament presents church leadership as servant leadership, not a system of religious hierarchy or personal authority.

Jesus taught His disciples:

> "Whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you shall be slave of all."
— Mark 10:43–44

The apostles established congregations with a plurality of qualified elders (also called overseers or shepherds) in each local church (Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5). These men were to meet the qualifications given in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9, shepherding the flock willingly and by example—not by domination (1 Peter 5:1–3).

The New Testament also identifies deacons as servants who meet biblical qualifications and assist in the work of the congregation (1 Timothy 3:8–13). Every Christian is called to serve according to the gifts God has given (1 Peter 4:10).

What we do not find in the New Testament is a pattern of one man exercising supreme authority over the universal church or creating positions beyond what the apostles taught. Christ remains the only Head of His church, and every leader is accountable to His Word.

📖 WHO SHOULD LEAD THE CHURCH?

The question is not, "What is popular today?" or "What do modern churches practice?" The question is:

What pattern did Christ and His apostles establish for the church?

The New Testament teaches that every Christian—both men and women—is precious to God and has an important place in the body of Christ (Galatians 3:28). Women served faithfully in the early church through prayer, hospitality, teaching other women and children, acts of service, encouragement, and many other ministries (Acts 18:26; Titus 2:3–5; Romans 16:1–6).

At the same time, the apostles, writing under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, gave specific instructions regarding the leadership and teaching roles within the assembled church.

Paul wrote:

"I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet."
— 1 Timothy 2:12

When describing the qualifications for elders (overseers), the Holy Spirit instructed that an elder must be:

"...the husband of one wife..."
— 1 Timothy 3:2; Titus 1:6

These qualifications were not presented as cultural preferences but as part of the apostolic instruction for organizing the local church.

This does not mean women are less valuable, less spiritual, or less capable. The New Testament honors the faithful service of many godly women. Rather, it teaches that God has given different responsibilities within the church, just as different members of the body have different functions (1 Corinthians 12:12–27).

The New Testament church sought to follow God's revealed order rather than reshape it according to the customs of society. Our responsibility today is the same: to respect the pattern revealed through Christ's apostles.

Are our church practices shaped by the teachings of Christ and His apostles, or by changing cultural expectations?

📖 GOD'S DESIGN FOR MARRIAGE AND MINISTRY

In every generation, the church faces the challenge of deciding whether it will follow the changing values of society or the unchanging Word of God.

The New Testament church did not shape its doctrine according to culture. The apostles, guided by the Holy Spirit, faithfully proclaimed what Christ commanded, even when His teachings were unpopular.

From the beginning, God's design for marriage was clearly revealed:

"Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'?"
Matthew 19:4–6

The apostles continued this teaching, presenting marriage as the covenant union between one man and one woman, reflecting Christ's relationship with His church (Ephesians 5:22–33).

The New Testament also teaches that those who serve as elders or overseers must meet the qualifications revealed by the Holy Spirit, including being "the husband of one wife" (1 Timothy 3:2; Titus 1:6). These qualifications were not left to changing human opinion but were given as part of the pattern for Christ's church.

At the same time, the gospel calls every person—regardless of background or past sins—to repentance, forgiveness, and new life in Christ.

Paul reminded the Corinthian Christians:

"And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."
1 Corinthians 6:11

The church is not called to condemn people. It is called to proclaim the gospel that invites all people to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ (Luke 24:46–47; Acts 2:38).

This post is not intended to promote hatred, disrespect, or mistreatment toward anyone. Every person is created in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and love. At the same time, love does not require changing the teachings of Christ or His apostles.

Our prayer is that every believer will examine every doctrine and practice in light of Scripture.
