VERSE OF THE WEEK: All About Jesus // John 10:28-30
"Jesus: The Good Shepherd"
The Lord Jesus is the good Shepherd of the sheep and He knows all the needs of His little flock. He protects them from danger, He finds them when they're lost, He understands their deepest concerns, and He provides for all their needs.

At His first advent, Jesus made it clear, through His words and His works, that He was their promised Messiah and the Son of the most high God. But He was misunderstood by the crowds and rejected by the religious leaders. They would not hear His voice, they rejected Old Testament truth, and altered many prophetic teachings with their private, esoteric interpretations.

Christ's disciples, however, had hearts that were open to the gospel. They heard His voice, they trusted His Word, and their faith expanded to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. "You are the Messiah the Son of the Living God," was their confession, and they believed that God had sent Him into the world to save His people from their sin, "and I give eternal life to them," was Christ's promise to those who believe, "and they will never perish; and no one will sn**ch them out of My hand."

He was their good Shepherd, and He is our good Shepherd Who has the words of eternal life within Himself... and none can pluck us out of His hands, and no-one can pluck us out of the hand His Father. He is the great Shepherd of the sheep Whose blood has sealed the eternal covenant, even Jesus Christ our Lord. He is the chief Shepherd Who has promised us the unfading crown of glory at His coming, and He is our faithful Shepherd, Who has promised never to leave us nor forsake us.

Eye has not seen and ear has not heard the glories that await those that trust Him, in the rich, well-watered heavenly home, to which we all are travelling. Salvation through faith in Christ is the great gift of life. Through faith in Him, we received abundant life and life eternal. It is a heavenly life, that has been generously bestowed on all who trust their heavenly Shepherd. He gently leads each little lamb through the difficult places of life and provides the necessary respite for all His people, on their weary, earthly journey.

He guards each one against every enemy and each danger that lies in wait to steal or harm or destroy. And, as if all this were not sufficient, He made a promise that should rejoice the heart of all His children, and calm every questioning soul, "no one will ever sn**ch them out of My hand," were His comforting words... nor can they be removed out of the hand of God the Father Almighty.

Nothing in heaven or earth can grab the sinner saved-by-grace from the protection of His holy hand. No-one in the earthly realm or spiritual sphere can steal our eternal joy... and nothing in the created universe has the power to remove the child of God from the hand of His Lord and Saviour. And may we never forget that His promises are all 'yes' and 'amen' in Jesus Christ our Lord.

As we consider the beauty of all that Christ has done for us, His gift of eternal salvation and the eternal security we find in Him, our rejoicing heart travels to Romans 12, where Paul calms each doubting heart, with that memorable truth, "Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress separate us? Will persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword separate us from our heavenly Shepherd?" And the answer comes from the Word of truth as a resounding NO!

For nothing can separate us from the love of God - neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, is able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord - for we are ONE with HIM. He is ours and we are HIS. Hallelujah!!!

VERSE OF THE WEEK: All About Jesus // John 14:6
"No Other Way but Jesus"
John 14:6 means Jesus is our only access to God and salvation. There is no other way to be saved. Our good works cannot save us neither can our positions in the church or among men can save us. This scripture is a non-negotiable requirement to be saved.

Jesus is not one of the ways, but the ONLY way to the cross where His blood was shed so that we can be saved. For without the shedding of His blood, there would be no remission of sin. (Hebrews 9:22)Jesus is the truth because there is no old or new generational truth, truth is truth. He is rooted in the eternal God which acts upon us.

The context of John 14 informs us about how Christ spoke comforting and words of assurance to His disciples. He does not want us to be pained or troubled but to believe in Him as the mediator between us and God. For every believer's joy is to be with Him in heaven.

Hence, He went to prepare a mansion for us which is our everlasting dwelling place with Him. Jesus made Himself clear, your atheist friends does not have a place in heaven, you must believe. Jesus is every sinner’s way to heaven.

He is our advocate and comforter, who is ever with us. God’s gift, the Holy Spirit is lavished upon His chosen and not to the world. He abides with every believer forever. Whosoever does not know God or believe in Him cannot see Him or encounter the Holy Spirit. Jesus, who is also the Holy Spirit, dwells with those who love Him and obey His words.

Jesus informed His disciples all He had said might not make sense to them now until He has been crucified and resurrected. He promised to send them the Holy Spirit who will bring all He had said to their remembrance.

A life without Christ is a life full of crisis. You cannot follow His leading and miss out in life and the life to come, for He has not called the seed of Jacob to seek Him in vain (Isaiah 45:19). Anytime you are ready to come to Him, He is always available to receive you.

VERSE OF THE WEEK: All About Jesus // John 8:12
"THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD"
Have you ever been in a dark room and turned your iPod or phone on? The light from your device was really bright and made the darkness go away. That’s a lot like how Jesus is in our dark world. He’s light. Where He is, darkness flees.

When we walk with Jesus, we don’t have to walk in darkness. He came to destroy the devil’s work. He came to set people free. With Jesus, we have freedom and a new life. The kind of life that Jesus brought us is a good life. It’s freedom and peace for us. It’s a life of freedom from the things that once held us back.

Jesus truly is the light of the world. He’s brought us light and life and when we put our trust in Him we can walk in that light in every area of our lives. So no matter what you’re facing, know that Jesus came to bring life and light to your situation. Choose to believe Him and walk in the light He provides.

VERSE OF THE WEEK: Faith // Ephesians 2:8
"Saved through GRACE + FAITH"
Did you ever thought that your good deeds or talents were why God loved you? We can easily believe this because our parents consistently reward us for doing good, right?

These rewards often began as early as kindergarten when mom and dad said, "you make us very happy when you make good grades." Or "if you do good on your dance recital today, we will get you a special present.

And yes, there is nothing wrong with doing the right things. And doing good always feels good. However, this can be a trap. Many call it "the performance trap." And the struggle with the performance trap is that we believe God only does good for those who do good things.

The truth is that doing good is not how we get rewards from God, and we don't go to heaven for being good! We receive the reward of heaven not from doing good, but through accepting Christ as our Savior.

The scripture says we were saved by grace through faith. Therefore, this is not by doing good…we cannot earn it; it is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:9)!

Remember, receiving Christ as our Savior is by God's gift of grace and through faith. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 NKJV that if salvation were based on our own efforts, no one could be saved: "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Ask Christ into your life today, and here's how:

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10, NKJV)

VERSE OF THE WEEK: Faith // Hebrews 11:1
"Faith: Confidence & Assurance"
What is faith? Faith is simply meant to believe in something real even though we cannot prove it yet with tangible evidence. For example, when God told Noah to build an ark because He was going to destroy the world with a flood, Noah had not seen an ark or a flood before. He did not have any clue what God was talking about. However, as the Lord gave him instructions on how to build the ark, he got some ideas on what the ark would look like, but he did not know how it would work.

In spite of his lack of understanding, he believed in God. Noah had faith in God that everything that God was telling him would come to pass. Noah could see it in his mind that the earth would be covered with water and that the ark that he was building was going to save them; however, he did not know all the details on how it was going to happen. He trusted God with His own life, although he could not comprehend it all.

In our spiritual walk, we also need to believe God with our whole heart even though we do not understand everything that He is telling us. Like Noah, God told him something that he could not understand, yet he obeyed God because he believed that God is true. When God is telling us to trust in Him in our situations, we need to trust in Him. We need to live our lives according to his will. Let us not trust in our own way, but God’s way.

If we are struggling to trust the Lord with our whole heart, then we need to ask Him to help us to trust Him with our whole heart. If we are not willing to trust Him, then we need to ask Him to change our hearts. The only way that we can experience the power and the presence of God in our lives is when we walk in faith in Him. We should not walk in fear and doubt, but we should walk in confidence in God, knowing that God is powerful and in control of everything. If God created the universe and He loves us, then we should believe and obey Him. If Noah did not believe in God, then he would not have saved his family. Let us believe in God and listen to Him because He knows what is best for us.

Write down the challenges that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Let us ask God to help us to believe in Him with our whole heart.

Father in Heaven, thank you for being my Savior and Lord. Thank you for loving me and caring for me. Please forgive me if I have not been trusting you as I should have. Please help me to trust you with my whole heart. Help me to believe in you. I need you to change my life because no one else out there that can love me that way you do. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

VERSE OF THE WEEK: Faith // Micah 7:7
"Hope & Faith"
Have you ever been so discouraged in doing good that you felt like giving up? Micah knew that no matter how difficult his circumstances, God was with him. While the prophet failed to bring about any real change in God’s people for years, Micah refused to be discouraged: “I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.” Even though Micah’s words seem to have fallen on deaf ears (7:7), he knew that what really mattered was not the people’s response but God’s faithfulness.

Even though Micah was filled by “misery” (7:1) and surrounded by people who had rejected his call to return to the Lord, he firmly put his hope in God. He did not look at the circumstances but kept his focus on the Lord’s faithfulness. Micah was demonstrating the type of faith the author of Hebrews writes about in chapter 11: “[C]onfidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (v. 1).

Hebrews chapter 11 is often called the “Hall of Faith” because it lists people who trusted God despite their circumstances. We read of Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, and others. “They did not receive the things promised” but kept their eyes focused on God and His promises (vv. 13–15). Why? “They were longing for a better country—a heavenly one” (v. 16). Notice the ending in verse 16: “Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God.” What high praise is given here to these men and women who showed faith in God even when faced with challenges!

May we, like Micah and the author of Hebrews, become ever more convinced, despite what we see around us, that “my God will hear me” (Mic. 7:7).

VERSE OF THE WEEK: Faith // 2 Cor. 5:7
"Walk by Faith, not by sight"
What does it mean to walk by faith not by sight?

We live by faith not by sight. That is what God calls us to do. To grow in our faith walk is to do it by continually walking in God's grace and believing that His word is true.

It takes great faith to be a Christian, to believe that Jesus died on the cross to purchase eternal life for you. But the joy and peace from really knowing God in your life is so worth taking that step, for we live by faith and not by sight.

Walking by faith in this life, means we are to rely completely on all that God has said in His Word. We do not make decisions by what we see or feel.

Now, I have to tell you that this is hard! I know this truth but I know that I stumble every day! I know that my feelings lie to me but I often listen to them and most times I regret the action taken on those feelings. I make much better, Godly decisions now than I have in the past but I need to stay plugged into God and listen for the Holy Spirit's direction in all that I do.

Feelings can mislead us and steal our faith more than any other influence. The major problem with our feelings is that they change constantly. One morning you may wake up feeling all motivated and ready to do all that is on your 'to-do list' or you might wake up and not feel like conquering anything on your 'to-do list'.

Feelings can also provoke you to say something that you might later regret.

So, what can you do? How can you be in more control of your life and walk by faith?

You need to read what God says in the Bible. Search out what God says about the different issues that you face in this troubling world. You need to remember that we have an enemy that we do not see. Satan likes to trip us up on our faith walk. He does not want us to grow in our faith in God and he uses our feelings to trip us up. Remember your emotions can be unreliable.

I find that I might get upset at something and in the heat of the moment believe the wrong thing. I also find that if I step away from whatever causes the upsetting emotion and turn to God for His perspective suddenly I see it for what it is and it usually is not the big deal that my feelings portrayed!

Emotions are unreliable, do not trust or believe them.

Instead, prayerfully respond with your heart. When you stay plugged into God and you are constantly prayerfully reading your Bible, then the Holy Spirit abides in you and He will fill you with God's peace. Trust that peace and not your emotions. When you have to make a decision, make sure you know God's peace in your heart, and then you will know which decision to make.

VERSE OF THE WEEK: Love // Isaiah 54:10
"God's Unfailing Love"

The prophet Isaiah was painting an amazing picture here.

Even when it seems the world is crumbling apart with darkness looming, mountains shaking, and hills be removed, the love of God will remain an unmovable foundation, and His supernatural peace will be undisturbed.

This is an incredible and eternal foundation we can build our life upon. No other foundation of the earth can compare to the one God offers us. His incredible love is truly indescribable!

In order to grasp this incredible love, we must have a real revelation of it.

It’s one thing to believe something, and another to receive and experience it in full measure. To know the love of God intimately is to know freedom. The more we pursue God with passion and hunger, we can ask the Holy Spirit to help us and empower us to know this amazing love that transcends human understanding.

Have you felt like mountains and hills have been shaking and crumbling around you? Hear the Lord saying to you today, “you are safe and secure with Me, beloved.” Dwell in His presence today, and know His peace and compassion have not been removed. God will never let you go. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. He holds your world in His hands, and no matter what may come, His love is here to stay.

“Lord, thank you for your unshakable love that is mine for the taking. Even though the world will fail me, your unfailing love will never waver. In your love, I am secure.”

VERSE OF THE WEEK: Love // 1 John 4:8
"We love because He is Love"

As believers in Jesus, we should be loving other people. Yes, even those that are unlovely. Why? Because God loves us and forgives us even when we don’t deserve it. And out of that love that we have been given, we should be loving others and leading them closer to Jesus.

Part of knowing God, and being His follower is developing love in your life. And it might take a little effort on your part. You might be used to gossiping, maybe even spreading rumors about others. But as a follower of God, you should be loving others.

That means you’re looking for ways to bless the people around you. That might mean stopping to help your neighbor bring a bag of groceries into their house. Or perhaps it’s asking the kid that sits by himself at lunch to sit at your table. Whatever it is, listen to the leading of love on the inside of you. God wants to lead you into situations where you can be showing His love to the world around you.
